We’re now in the final stretch of the declaration period, hold strong folks!

The mobile collection units do not exist and represent a massive liability for demented chipmunk. Off duty and retired cops simply will not take this risk on while guaranteed to not be paid benefits should anything happen.

5,000 people attended the CCFR Quebec rally and the QC public safety minister is now distancing himself.

Every police force in about 90% of the country has now refused to participate making the logistics of this program near impossible.

BC already issued a memo to demented chipmunk saying we want to do this but we won’t be ready for October.

We’re winning this! Stay strong everyone!

I agree, I think we are getting very close. I don't think the feds anticipated NDP strongholds like BC and Manitoba not going along with this - and now with QC trying to distance themselves I can see things moving (very slowly) in our direction.

This program's outcome has already been decided. It will be a "huge success".

They have missed so many off ramps and still decided to continue with this nonsense. I think they are going to press on to save face.

The best case scenario for us would be they collect a few dozen guns, make a big press conference to showcase the confiscated GSG 16 that they are about to send to Ukraine and declare mission accomplished, great success.

We all become "criminals" on technicality but the laws will likely be unenforced or unenforceable, practically status quo, "don't ask, don't tell" kind of situation.

We all become "criminals" on technicality but the laws will likely be unenforced or unenforceable, practically status quo, "don't ask, don't tell" kind of situation.

This never happened with the LGR, amnesty was extended endlessly until it ended. That's what I expect here.

Would be kinda funny if they decided to grandfather after collecting what was declared though

16

u/rastamasta45 Mar 03 '26

That also happened with the 1994 bans, initially it was turn in without compensation and they scared people with prison. Some did and the they grandfathered all the holdouts. So the weak kneed pansies lost their property with no compensations and a sweet sweet 12.x license. Government loves to screw over those that comply.

I agree but we have also said this a billion times of "we've almost won this!" Remember when it was C-whatever the fuck a few years ago, we won that and then they just changed the rules of the game by OIC-ing it all, and I can probably think of another dozen cope "almost there to victory!" Moments on this sub that lead to more issues.

Not trying to ruin the moment and I really do hope we win but... look into the history.  They have more ways to make ourselves miserable.

50

u/rastamasta45 Mar 02 '26

If we weren’t winning it wouldn’t have taken them 6 years to build a website.

We’re entering the enforcement phase and 90% of all police forces have said no. This is what we needed.

Ottawa Police confirm they are not taking part in the gun buyback. Quite the message when the liberal Heartland police say f u.

I love they had to add “we believe in evidence based policy making”

Good dig at the demented chipmunk, thank you OPS

More than 2,500 firearms have been outlawed in Canada since 2020

like I guess either way it's technically correct but it should be "2500 types of firearms" in that sentence.

16

u/Lumindan Mar 02 '26

One more on the list

The better question is who's still supporting it at this point?

16

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Mar 02 '26

Imaginary mobile unit, composed of the finest reserve officers who likely have a prohibit of their own.

Anybody else fucking hate most boomers in this country? Their geriatric asses ruined our nation for, what? To feel good about themselves? Not just about guns but everything. They complain they arent getting enough money from the government and then shoot down any kind of job creation, demand more immigrants for wage slavery and wage suppression, and everything else. What are we to do besides waiting for them to, know, not be here anymore? Do we actually try a youth party or something ?fight them at their own game?

40

u/rastamasta45 Mar 03 '26

Boomers sold out all generations after them for the best life. Now they reap the riches and we pay for it, our children will pay for it and our grandchildren will pay for it. It’s actually wild.

24

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Mar 03 '26

Remember the “occupy wall street” protests and how liberals and leftist all hated investing bankers? I don’t understand how the young liberals voted for Carney.

29

u/ultragigasimp Mar 03 '26

I’m in university and know a lot of obviously liberal students. Most of them go off the assumption that “Peepee” is going to ban women, LGBTQ+, abortions, and minorities. Anyone who leans right is “brainwashed” in their eyes. I have no idea why these seemingly smart people are so easy to trick

26

u/Lumindan Mar 04 '26

What you’re describing isn’t that surprising when you zoom out and look at how powerful narrative control has become (which is funny because the majority of talking points used against the conservatives aren't even true lol).

Mainstream outlets like that get state funding don’t just report politics anymore, they frame it. When the same framing is repeated across television, online headlines, campus discussions, and then amplified through algorithms on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, it becomes the “default reality” for a lot of young people, which is unfortunate.

Politics today isn’t about policy nuance; it’s team sports. Red team vs blue team. If you’re on Team Liberal, then the opposing side isn’t just wrong! They’re evil, regressive, anti-women, anti-LGBTQ, anti-minority. That framing sticks because it’s emotional, not analytical. And once politics becomes moralized like that, dissent equals heresy. Say what you will about the Liberals but they have a stupidly good campaign machine and they've managed to weaponize feelings which is incredible to be frank.

The Liberal Party of Canada has been particularly effective at branding. They’ve tied themselves to identity politics and social virtue in a way that makes opposing them feel like opposing equality itself. On university campuses where social belonging matters a lot that branding is powerful. When professors, student unions, and media all lean the same direction, it reinforces the perception that there’s only one “educated” view, hell we even see it on Reddit, even folks on this sub shy from discussing firearms in real life because it's considered a 'no no' topic even though it shouldn't be.

Hell, let's take a look at a VERY relevant point, the firearms confiscation / buyback. Owners know how fucked it is, but the average joe hears about how Carney is 'getting assault style weapons off the streets' and they think "yeah thats cool". A funny thing I hear all the time is "why are gun owners all so politically charged?" and the answer is always "because we fucking have to be otherwise we get cooked".

It’s not that students / most common folks are unintelligent either. It’s that they’re immersed in an environment where one narrative is socially rewarded and the other is socially punished. That’s a powerful incentive structure. Add in algorithm-driven media bubbles, and you get people who genuinely believe catastrophic things about the other side without ever engaging with primary sources or policy details. Look how many people, even people in this very sub parroting the usual "PP BAD" points but they suddenly shrink away when asked which part of the conservative platform they dislike.

When politics becomes identity plus media echo chambers, you don’t need people to think critically, you just need them to stay loyal to the team and that isn't going to change any time soon. The one redeeming factor is that eventually the tide always turns once quality of life dips low enough, history shows that the pendulum always swings, eventually.

I can’t think of any other group who claims to love their kids and grandkids so much but are willing to burn any chance they have of a future in the name of what cbc tells them to do. The arrogant “ we’re morally superior “ attitude they carry is beyond my ability to deal with anymore. I immediately write them off as retarded and can’t take anything they say seriously anymore. ( once I find out what kind of boomer they are )

23

u/Mrdingus6969 Mar 03 '26

They are literally the first generation ever that is doing better than their kids and even worse is most don't even care.

Every human generation has wanted their kids to do better than them but they are the opposite, it is putrid.

I am thankful my parents are not one of these boomers.

22

u/Beneficial-Ride-4475 Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

Is that a surprise though? There is a reason for it.

But first, some context!

The 1950s & '60s saw a boom in economic growth and prosperity previously unseen in North America. Motor vehicles became available to everyone, single family homes in ridiculously large (and notably insolvent) suburbs became the norm, refrigeration became more accessible (keep this particular point in mind), etc.

Now those things had their own drawbacks (especially housing), but a cultural shift also occurred.

Being in the land of plenty ment that waste sky rocketed, a lack of appreciation for what you had ment you simply threw away what was "old" for what was new became a prevalent social trait. If it wasn't new, you could say you were successful. If you couldn't display your success, you couldn't flex on your neighbour. Your neighbour, who had gone from community member, to being your social competition effectively overnight. The term "Keeping up with the Joneses" really saw the light of day here.

North America had become culture of excess and the showey display of one's wealth.

Good, if not the best examples of this shift towards excess in all things, actually come from cookbooks. Even in the late 40s, cookbooks still displayed recipes that were within one's means. They were modest, and simple. By the mid 1950s though, all restraint and reasoning had disappeared from cookbooks. This is, funnily enough, typified by the obscenely common appearance of gelatin, and the meteoric rise of truly monstrous abominations like the Spaghetti'O Jello Ring, or the daft Tomato Aspic were birthed into existence.

(If one wishes to curse their eyes and obtain the knowledge of true evil:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ShittyGifRecipes/comments/qyk4m7/spaghettio_jello_ring/

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/rEL9HpF__k8)

Now why was this? Simple, gelatin requires refrigeration. By serving a jello dish, you could flex on your neighbours.

But enough with the examples.

Now, other than me being a pompous history nerd and wanting to show it off, what purpose does this context serve? What does this have to do with boomers?

Well, what kind of mentality or attitude dose it take to maintain such an excessive and showey lifestyle? If you are going to say "be a proper jerk" I'll have to agree.

The environment a child grows up in, and who they are raised by, and the societal philosophy they are exposed to at an early age. Will effect their development and what kind of humans they become. Children are smarter than we give them credit for and pick up on things pretty quick, even subconsciously. If you grew up in a society that valued excess, showing off, having the newest and best thing, proving yourself to be better than your neighbors. Is it any surprise then that a child would pick up on that, and internalized some of it at least?

I'd wager that the reason many boomers are so entitled, arrogant, or selfish, is specifically because they internalized the behavior of their parents and the 1950s/60s society they grew up in. I'd wager that to them, greed, irrational selfishness, showing off, excess of material goods, and looking down on those of lesser economic status, are "entirely normal" behaviors.

To them we are probably the weird ones.

So I'd say no, it shouldn't be a surprise they behave so poorly.

13

u/thealmightybees Mar 04 '26

Natalie couldn’t get herself out of a wet paper bag, she won’t succeed any further than tactical assault jowls has.

13

u/FunkyFrunkle Mar 04 '26 edited Mar 04 '26

Appointing Natalie Provost to lord over the program does nothing to address the core issues that plague this program.

Her theoretical appointment does not magically materialize all of the necessary logistical and resource assets needed to conduct the buyback.

What is she realistically going to do? Ban more guns? Yeah alright cool, we can’t even entice anyone to collect the ones that are banned right now and banning more is just going to further push the provinces away on this issue to the point where some of them may follow Alberta and Saskatchewan in actively blocking the federal government from doing anything. Not to mention it’ll just increase the scope of the program to the point where there will be too many guns to collect, we’re already there now.

Police forces in the buybacks flagship province are even dropping like flies. Pushing this shit even more will just see Quebec opt out all together and then this program is really dead. Quebec might agree with the program in spirit but even they only have so much tolerance for a program that’s disorganized, expensive and impractical.

The buyback has been through a bakers dozen public safety ministers and not one of them could get this up and running. All she really brings to the table is a tragic story, but even she has to operate within the confines of government bureaucracy.

The time to put her in charge was six years ago, before public opinion started to sour against the program.

Today's threatening email to restricted holders with banned registered firearms shows you that the system is getting nervous. A majority of people even with fully registered prohibs clearly haven't declared. This program is on the verge of becoming and unworkable failure and serious legal headache for the RCMP and Canadian firearms program. What are they gonna do? Cancel tens of thousands of PAL's and then demand local cops go on door knocking raids for them across the country?

That is the definition of a PR nightmare, they will be at risk of police departments actually refusing to enforce firearms law themselves. I don't think they gameplanned mass non compliance even from the registered owners, they just assumed they would all fold and they could have a nice photo op and call it a day. Unfortunately for them many firearms owners are made of sterner stuff. Hold the line!

18

u/Late_Winner6859 Mar 06 '26 edited Mar 06 '26

I’m not even going to open it.

Even ignoring the personal rights and freedoms issue. They expect me to voluntarily sign up into this? A useless BS program, where I’d loose a lot of money, just so they can have a vote-grabbing photo-op? Hard pass!

15

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 06 '26

What was the latest email to R owners? I don't have my restricted, but curious as to what threats they are throwing around now to make the restricteds comply?  Fuck em! I love that 30k out of 2 million guns is all they got. Still too high, but lower than I was expecting (I was expecting at least 100k guns).

Too bad the news is too busy covering Trump to ever actually look closely at Canadian government policy. God forbid one of our mainstream media outlets criticized the Liberal overlords. It's actually mindblowing that they're still pushing ahead after 6 years, and then the Gary tapes, the country being broke, a change in leadership, almost all police forces saying they won't do it, and multiple provinces outright obstructing and blocking the program.... Yet still, they push ahead. Even Quebec is starting to turn against the program. It's nuts.

Have we heard anything on the CCFR’s application to the Supreme Court?

37

u/RaHarmakis Mar 02 '26

One thing about it that I have not seen discussed:

I seem to recall that the challenge (or maybe it was another) failed at the lower courts, because the Government said that owners would be paid for their property.

The fact the 'Buy Back Style" Program will only pay out to a very limited number of people, that should in my non lawyer like opinion be pretty good grounds for a further challenge.

11

u/TickleNut1274 Mar 05 '26

CCFR gave an update today saying they've got confirmation that the Supreme Court has received their appeal. A "panel of judges" will look into the case and let the CCFR know if the case will be heard in the SC in about 30-60 days.

Liberals (boomers specifically) when every aspect of the canadian life is getting significantly worse but if you fudge the numbers (a lot) it could be interpreted to be doing still worse than the USA but not as bad as if you did a thought experiment and making USA perform as bad as they possibly could:

17

u/Lumindan Mar 13 '26

straight from statscan so there's no media bias

According to the latest results from the Labour Force Survey in February 2026:

  • Employment declined by 84,000 (-0.4%) and the employment rate fell 0.2 percentage points to 60.6%.
  • The unemployment rate increased 0.2 percentage points to 6.7%.
  • Employment fell among youth aged 15 to 24 years old (-47,000; -1.7%) and men in the core working age of 25 to 54 years old (-41,000; -0.6%). Employment was little changed for core-aged women and people aged 55 years and older.
  • Employment declines were recorded in services-producing industries (-56,000; -0.3%) and goods-producing industries (-28,000; -0.7%). The largest declines were in wholesale and retail trade (-18,000; -0.6%), and 'other services' such as personal and repair services (-14,000; -1.8%).
  • Employment declined in Quebec (-57,000; -1.2%), British Columbia (-20,000; -0.7%), Saskatchewan (-5,500; -0.9%) and Manitoba (-4,000; -0.5%). Employment increased in Newfoundland and Labrador (+2,100; +0.8%) and was little changed in the other provinces.
  • Average hourly wages among employees were up 3.9% (+$1.42 to $37.56) on a year-over-year basis in February, following growth of 3.3% in January (not seasonally adjusted).

Copy pasted the report information from their reddit account as well.

Here's a fun thought process, how much could we bolster our local economy if we could buy handguns and oic banned items tomorrow? How about a 750 million dollar injection into local business?

Best we'll see from the government is more unchecked immigration for easy wage suppression. Those youth employment stats are damning.

31

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 04 '26

Dunno if it’s photoshopped, but there’s a guy on the CCFR private Facebook group trying to declare his type 81 and the governments offering 2 bucks lol

19

u/rastamasta45 Mar 04 '26

To add it probably confirms reports that they’ve already blown the capped budget and dipped (probably blown too) the 250 million compensation fund.

Which begs the question, if the budget is depleted, how do they plan to fund the confiscation? 👀

16

u/Eat_Cantaloupe_ Mar 04 '26

They have neither the logistically ability or the resources to pull this off. I don't own any prohibs but probably just ignore them

10

u/gamercast1337 Mar 04 '26

So I just need to "sell" 1000 type 81s to the government to get the full money back on what one of them would cost?

So I keep wondering how they’re going to collect the guns and Gary the demented chipmunk stayed RCMP reservists are part of the plan.

I didn’t know there are only 480 of them 🤦🏽 if the OPP which is 6,400 uniformed officers for only one province (and not even all of Ontario since we have numerous municipal)

TPS which is only for one city at 7,400 can’t do it and say it impacts resources……HOW THE HELL WILL 480 RESERVISTS COVER THE COUNTRY?!?!?!?

Typical LPC relying on the ignorance of Canadians and our systems “if we say it, we will it”

34

u/WeightedDips95 Mar 12 '26

It's pretty crazy the Liberals' and media's clear contempt for democracy. Carney is clearly strong arming his way to an unelected majority, and all the media mouth pieces are busy convincing us this is normal and evil impotent PP complaining about it is because hes insecure and ineffective as a leader.

Just saw Carney on X posted a video of the latest floor crosser as some joyous innocent occasion with the Office soundtrack in the back, completely surreal. And the dumb idiot dipper was reading some rehearsed script about how being in opposition to the Liberal government is "not constructive" and her constituents thought she was "complainy". According to their own stated logic there shouldn't be any party other than the Liberal party.

And of course Canadians are just okay with all of this

27

u/Lumindan Mar 12 '26

And the funniest part is now that they're feeling more secured, here comes the litany of surveillance and security bills. C2 is back on the table.

Of course because it's their team they don't care.

Credit where it's due. The Liberals have managed to convince the masses that an opposition is a bad thing and that they should run unchecked. Kinda wild tbh.

The Liberals managed to convince most of Canada that the runaway inflation we had been experiencing for at least the last 6 years was due to recent Trump tariffs.

They lie and steal because they know they can get away with it, because they have been for 11 years. Canadians are completely brain-dead and brainwashed.

Just watched that video on Pierres YT account about housing minister in parliament.... did he just fucking try to blame the housing costs and why no one can afford one on the current Iran war?????

and definitely don't look up what the housing minister also owns and is famous for besides being a politician. It's eye opening.

Do liberals do nothing but fucking lie and make shit up? Seriously, if it wasnt for lying would the liberals have any talking points??

If no one holds them accountable and thier base eats it up, why would they stop? Emotional arguments resonate with them and their base.

Edit: 2 minutes of full on gas lighting for those who havent seen it

13

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 13 '26

It's actually just disgusting how much they lie. Not to mention all the promises they made before the election, all of which have turned out to be complete bullshit.  "We're gonna build half a million affordable home!" Guess how many that "build Canada homes" program has built? Fucking 9.  And only in Nunavut. And they won't be ready till 2027 iirc. "I'm the man to deal with Trump!" Oh yeah, where's that deal? Are we even gonna have USMCA renewed? "We're going to build at rates never seen before!".... Okay so what big projects have YOU started Carney? Even the big LNG project in BC was approved by HARPER!! The Liberals have been in for 11 years now and it's just getting underway? And Carney is trying to take credit for a project approved 11 years ago under the CPC as if he has anything at all to do with it?

Nothing is being done, nothing is being built. We're just continuing to get fucked by high taxes and a stagnant economy.

"We gave Canadians a 1% tax break!!!" Yeah, and then raised EI and CPP contributions so no net extra cash in our pockets, but they got to run a tax cut headline. Fucking pricks.

17

u/gamercast1337 Mar 13 '26

I think this will make the divide between boomers and the youth split even more, with us youngin's being unable to afford a fucking apartment let alone a house for our entire adult lives so far. being told its the war that started 2 weeks ago fault, and the boomers believing it because TV says so. Hell boomers on P.Ps Facebook page are arguing saying shit lik "uuhh errrr it costs fuel to move building supplies and uh oil in concrete snd uh global costs go up and uh gas go up so bad but not comparable to carbon tax because uhhh PP GET YOUR CLEARANCE!!"

sorry for the schizo at the end I just fucking hate boomers so much its unreal.

12

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 13 '26 edited Mar 13 '26

Honestly like 90% of the time I see vile hatred being spewed on the internet nowadays, it's like 60-70 year old white men, acting like children screaming about maple MAGA. It's pretty nuts how immature that generation acts. No discussions of facts, just straight up hatred for anyone right of center and screaming fascist. The amount of times I've seen a 70 year old white guy calling Polievre a fascist is nuts. It's astounding how brainwashed some of them are. I don't know how anyone can look around at the country and think it's doing well.

It also drives me nuts when I see Melanie Joly or Carney get up in parliament and start screaming about "the greatest economy in the G7!" Yeah, okay Liberals, keep preaching from your 300k salaried ivory tower in Ottawa how great the economy is doing.

With Quebec now distancing themselves from this “buyback” has anyone heard anything more about BC’s stance in all this? Or is my province just the national embarrassment.

25

u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Mar 02 '26

The official stand of BC is that it wont order police to participate but also will not block. Police simply don’t have the resources. Will be interesting how many firearms end up being declared in BC. Last count had it at over 7k. Spineless people declaring.

13

u/Diligent_Studio6763 Mar 03 '26

I wonder how much of that 7k is just businesses trying to recoup at least some of their losses.

15

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 03 '26

Apparently these numbers are not including businesses, but the government has been so fucking opaque and vague on it that's it's hard to know for sure, although I believe CCFR did confirm the numbers we've been seeing are just for individuals. Either way, it's a small fraction of the total number in BC. I'd guess we have probably 100k prohibs in BC, maybe more.

27

u/Apples_and_Overtones Your feet suck and so do you Mar 08 '26

Byelections are now being called to attempt to get a Liberal majority... I hope that people in those ridings have common sense and do not allow this to happen.

27

u/Unknownuser010203 Mar 08 '26

They'll go liberal. He's gonna get his majority, but I'd rather get it by by-elections than by a snap federal election. I'd rather wait 3 years and a bit for a conservative minority than 4 years from a snap election right now. People really need to suffer to break their voting habits. I don't think we can rely on a new government coming in to help us, sadly. All we can do is not comply and inform people about what's really going down. This program is incredibly unpopular with most Canadians who see it as a waste of money. We need to make sure they know just how much is being wasted and how badly people are being screwed. It's a slow walk to winning, but the roads there waiting.

23

u/EfficientPen8682 Mar 08 '26

you new to this ? Trudeau broke everyone, and the enemy cbc found trump as a distraction which made people vote for these pieces of garbage again. Theyll find another thing.

20

u/Unknownuser010203 Mar 08 '26

Just wait until people feel real hunger. We're not suffering hard enough yet (it's a terrible thing to say)

11

u/gamercast1337 Mar 08 '26

Boomers will STILL not change.

the boomers MUST suffer before things change. But the government does all it can to prevent it . As horrible as it is to say, for actual change to happen things NEED to keep getting worse and more people lose their houses and starve and the quality of life outpaces the propaganda put out. At hey at the rate its going we should be there soon.

u/rastamasta45 Mar 11 '26

They’re literally the scum of the earth, I’m literally reading about a man shot in his own home in Toronto during a home invasion and these grave dancings psychos are at it again with the demand for more bans.

The only silver lining is it’s clearly Canadians are waking up that this is not the solution. Handguns have been banned since 2022 and there’s more shootings than ever before.

13

u/GinnAdvent Mar 11 '26

And if you look at the latest video done by SoapGunBox, the whole issue with Brenda Lucki and RCMP during the NS investigation is that the firearm info was leaked early to start a narrative, and the whole mass casualty report is written in a sense for political purpose anyways.

RCMP will never be a non partial group as long as the Liberal government is holding on it on a leash.

Thursday the Supreme Court decides if they wanna hear the CCFR case. Fingers crossed

22

u/rastamasta45 Mar 13 '26

I’m really really really praying they agree to hear them, but god damn are the judges in Canada so cucked to the LPC. This is more than guns, it’s about property rights.

Allowing the government to just say “anything we deem illegal, we can confiscate and offer scraps, if you refuse you go to jail”

This is criminal and I’m going the Supreme Court recognizes that. Otherwise we’re so cooked, expect the LPC to not only come after all the guns, but our houses, cars or whatever they want to steal without repercussions.

11

u/gamercast1337 Mar 13 '26

Probably wont because its government.

But hey maybe. Whats the specifics of this case? About how the government isnt offering proper compensation or any at all for the guns despite that being considered "fair" in the previous rulling to make the gun grab """""valid"""""?

21

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 13 '26

The previous judge ruled the OIC was allowed because people were going to be compensated, might have a different opinion now that the government basically said no one’s getting paid

14

u/gamercast1337 Mar 13 '26

Well shit I hope the judge does feel the same way we do, because otherwise its a scary thought if it still rules in favor of the government. It means there is legal precedent for them to just take your shit without paying, right?

Your car, house, land, business etc could be at stake here if the judge rules in favor of the government. Which is what they want so lets hope no big deposits from a certain business land in that judges bank account ....

Liberal will likely get the majority they want after the three by elections. I am wondering what will happen to us. They will pass some bills against us? Forced buy back? Anything worse for us?

16

u/Lumindan Mar 10 '26

Even with a majority, how will the execute the program?

The same problems that exist for the program now when they're a pseudo majority still exist for them as a true majority. (Execution, logistics, getting cops to buy into the program, getting owners to buy into the program, the significant man power requirements, administrative issues etc.). You have to remember this is the same government that can't even get a functional payroll system going. They can't even claw back COVID benefits despite people literally self doxxing to the highest degree with those.

It's more likely they'll maintain the wedge issue, throw in some OIC bans when they need media coverage and keep the can rolling down the road.

I am wondering what will happen to us. They will pass some bills against us?

Probably, or just OIC

Forced buy back?

How?

Anything worse for us?

Gun-wise, probably not apart from more bans. Probably a lot worse in terms of privacy and general authoritarianism.

14

u/DoYouGetSarcasm Mar 10 '26

Forced buy back?

They've already said they aren't paying most people who could participate and that it will be illegal to keep them after October and you'll be arrested if caught.

So they've already removed the "buy" part and added the "force" part.

I don't think they'll go door to door, the optics of that are just to bad and there's no votes to be hard for it.

They want to attack the sks but that's an attack on the FN, hard to tell how that will play out.

I feel like if they add new things with more oic bans after the declaration period is over that sets up the idea that you can't be compensated and is bad PR, maybe implies they would need to run another buy back to cover new items.

I will predict the backland Hunter gets prohibed some how. Just to throw some doom and gloom around

Here's to hoping we we end up with under 50k at the end of the month

Let's assume they do hit 50k. Here's a fun fact: according to StatsCan, there are approximately 1000 new firearms imported into Canada for sale every day. Less than two months after the collection date, Canadians will have more guns than they did before the confiscation.

When you're the government, that's what six years and nearly a billion tax dollars buys you.

The ironic thing is they're apparently cutting some funding to the CBC when a big part of their campaign was putting more funds into it.

Yep but as I've said many a time before and why I'm an ABL voter. The Liberal party of Canada has no principles they aren't pragmatic they don't' value anything besides winning. They will backtrack and screw over the common people if it means a slight bump in polls because they don't give a shit about the people of Canada.

So how the fuck are liberals this high in the polls? Are boomers coming out in force this hard? Winemoms in suburbs? Everything has gotten more expensive, we are literally starting to be in the " cutting back on every program " phase of government and they still support? On almost every metric we are worse of than fucking Alabama???

What the actual hell is going on with people? Is this country even for me anymore?

u/Arbakos Mar 06 '26

Guns aside, it feels like the boomers traded my future for their property values.

Man shot during home invasion at affluent neighborhood

This is one thing I tend to warn people about. It doesn't matter if you are quite well off, and own a few cars, a 2nd cottage, and live at a nice location. When things goes sideways, thugs are running around doing home invasion or extortion, knowing our law is on their side, it doesn't matter how high your elbow can go.

But yeah, keep up the gun buy back, and don't spend money on police and community safety is definitely the Liberal ways to go.

I think pretty high. They have 32k guns declared last I heard and we're nearly at the end now. 30k out of probably 2 million. They arent even close to getting all the restricteds declared

u/Perfect_Diamond_1128 Mar 09 '26

Oh wow. And soon people wont even be eligible for compensation right? (march 31 deadline), so even less people will want to give their guns. Maybe they are cooked

is the 2020 ban the start of a trend or an isolated incident? honestly feels like the end goal is complete ban of everything. am i crazy?

It wasn't the start of a trend, it was the continuation of a long trend that only took a pause during the Harper years, and then dramatically accelerated again under Trudeau.

Yes, the goal is the complete ban of everything, and the method is to constantly redefine what is portrayed as a "reasonable" firearm. Campaign on banning only "the most dangerous guns" - and then with every new ban, the window shifts. What was a reasonable gun before is now the new most dangerous gun on the market, and the cycle continues.

You’re not crazy for noticing a pattern. The 2020 prohibition wasn’t really an isolated incident it fits into a longer Liberal policy trajectory on civilian firearms that goes back decades. No seriously, go check the rock quote for it.

The firearms act started back in the 90s and before that the Liberals had already been pushing against legal firearms ownership.

They make it into a political issue to force the other side to support 'pro-gun' people. This way, they can rile up their base. US VS THEM is the strongest tool in a politician's armoury.

It's a long cornerstone for the Liberals, they'll keep hammering it, cutting away at it until there's nothing left, then they move the goal post to the next hot button topic they manufacture.

Their base eats it up either because they're ignorant or they're so team sports locked they just let it fly. Look at all the people in this very sub indicating that 'they aren't single issue voters' or 'i cant support the other guy!'.

No, they'd love to ban everything, and if we let them, they will.
