First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Less than a year and a half ago we all though a PP minority was the worst case scenario and many thought the Liberals would be out for the next decade no matter their leader. Now we'll have a Liberal Majority in a few weeks. My guess is Carney will get a second majority in 2029.

True but fate is a double edged sword, just as easily this could all blow up on the liberals. Toasting champagne after sneaking a majority through the backdoor is gonna be distasteful to huge swaths of Canada. And remember people can cross the floor the other way also if they see the wind blowing a different direction. 

Your assumption about the '29 election assumes this country even exists in it's current configuration by then, which becomes a bigger if by the day. The liberals greasing out a majority instead of doing what is probably the smart thing and calling an election to get it legit may be overplaying their hand. Also tells you how confident they are that an ACTUAL majority of Canadians would support them at the polls (not very confident clearly)

At least now the hardcore NDP voters can start sharing some of our outrage. Just watch, the hardcore lefties will be angry with the NDP MP for crossing to the LPC I bet, and now they can't scream at us "you voted for the person!!!". From what I've heard, a lot of NDP voters don't like Carney because he has shifted slightly to the center (at least outwardly, the same nutty leftist shit is still going on, just behind closed doors now).

Honestly? Im getting fucking tired of people like you who can't read the writing on the wall. Its clear this is going towards a dictatorship and the canadian population is completely okay with it. No liberal, boomer or immigrant will complain about it since they will get more free stuff (funded by our tax and printing!) While we all suffer more and more. It isnt going yo suddenly wake people up.

I don't think it's toxic positivity to suggest that Canada won't exist as is for the 2029 election, but that is just me, I'm from Alberta so we have an obvious strategy to deal with the liberals shenanigans. Permanently. Regardless getting a majority via floor crossings is not anything approaching a mandate (though I'm sure the CBC will use the word mandate every 5 seconds to try and convince people otherwise), and is not even particularly popular among liberals, go take a look at the cesspool that is the main Canada reddit, not even popular there shockingly, the best people can muster is an old tired "We have unite because of Trump and reasons". It will essentially be a 3 year liberal dictatorship where they will do whatever they want, and, Lord willing, screw Alberta and Quebec specifically so we can hopefully get enough people onboard to blow up the whole failed "Canada" project once and for all.

I'm curious if for when the USA gets a new president in 2028 if that will ease some of the anti Americanism voting which influenced the last election.
