News / Politics / Activism Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Declaration now at 42,000 according to demented chipmunk in the House of Commons today.

In the grand scheme of things, even 100,000 would be horrendously low.

Plus they're not even collecting yet. That's just people who are declaring and self reporting.

11

u/Cre_AK47 Name Prohibited by OIC Mar 11 '26

That's not too bad. Willing to bet overall, most were previously restricted.

I can absolutely see the fear, but I have restricted and I’m not declaring because I’m not a little bitch bowing down the fat cheek chipmunk.

Imagine calling yourself a man after listening to Gary and Provost, the loser is thanking gun owners after threatening prison. I love when my abuser thanks me for not hitting back after being assaulted.

Careful, bill C9 passed, that might be hate speech! /A now we can all get arrested for prohibs and hate speech! Fantastic.

Ugh, I don’t like that they’re approaching 50% of the 135k they plan to buyback. A lot of god damn cowards in this country

14

u/Lumindan Mar 11 '26

The 135k was already a shifted goal post to begin with.

They could have 0 declared and they'd still run it and spin it.

u/rastamasta45 Mar 11 '26

This is true, number was 153,000 at first, then they lowered it inexplicably to 135,000.

Come the end of the declaration period, they will say it actually was 50,000 all along and we got 99% compliance

11

u/Lumindan Mar 11 '26

Shouldn't be a shocker that Carney is comfortable fudging numbers. The fact that they did a cheeky split to try to cover the deficit (along with some other incredibly bad accounting practices) meant this was already a fight not rooted in numbers (it never was now that I'm writing it out).

I know, but it’s just annoying knowing some clueless person will read the cbc article on this and be impressed the government rounded up 50% of the banned rifles. Being completely unaware of the actual number out there

Some of the Conservative MPs have actually been really good on this subject, and continue bringing it up regularly. I am sure that the CPC will be sure to hassle the Liberals on the topic post amnesty with the numbers.

The ban isnt going away liberals will soon have a majority and will ensure this country votes liberal for another 10 years. The people that declared are realists and dont want to wonder when the rcmp come knocking

14

u/Spirited_Pop2211 Mar 12 '26

The realist see the list of police forces not participating and see they have no way to enforce this, majority or not.

-11

u/stephenhoskins32 Mar 12 '26

The rcmp can do it and we both know liberals have no problem spending money. They won't spend it on proper compensation but they will spend it to make sure they get more guns. They will hire more rcmp or pay a private company and have rcmp do security.

I'll use the money i get and buy more guns. I'll never give them all up

The RCMP leadership were literally talking about cutting sick days and mental health leave because of how few officers they have left patrolling.

They can’t just make a police force magically get more officers. All police are critically short right now.

You would literally have to remove officers from small towns full time to administer this program and collect the guns.

u/gamercast1337 Mar 12 '26

Its the liberal government.  You should know they would 100% do that . They don't give a shit about proper law enforcement. They would happily let a town go without law enforcement to do this illegal gun grab.

Although funnily enough if they did pull rcmp out of a town for this im certain crime would drop since people could enforce it on their own and .... have more permanent solutions instead of catch and release.

u/Spirited_Pop2211 Mar 12 '26

Well first off, you’re not going to get any money. Second, the RCMP can barely do their job right now, making millions of Canadians criminals only adds onto that. I have a hard time believing you’ll all of a sudden grow a pair next time they come for your guns if you can’t do it this time.

u/HappyCan7250 Mar 12 '26

The problem with saying "I'll never give them all up", is you just gave some up. What happens when your bolt gun is declared to be a "high powdered sniper rifle" next?

-2

u/stephenhoskins32 Mar 12 '26

Giving up what they know i have and what they don't know i have is 2 different things.

Im trying to live my life in this shit country i dont want to worry about a knock at the door. For something i cant even use.

You guys can act tough now. I bet majority will do the same when they know little PP isnt going to do anything becuase hes just as bad as carney.

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 12 '26

You didn’t have to turn anything in. The amnesty is till Oct 31 and if you’re that scared of something happening to you you can just deactivate at the last minute. You taking part in their confiscation scheme just helps to legitimize this bullshit and will help them to justify doing it again in the future. You sold us all out for the possible chance of some pocket change

-1

u/stephenhoskins32 Mar 12 '26

I dont give a shit about the money I did it because of the possibility of going to jail or years of having to goto court dealing with this mess.

You live your life, ill live mine. Keeping a few guns that I cant use that can put me in jail might aswell not be in my possession.

You have no idea what happens after oct31st. Everyone here talks shit about the rcmp but to me its better safe than sorry.

I might have to mute this subreddit it seems to be filled with the same one sided mindset the rest of reddit is full of.

u/boozefiend3000 Mar 12 '26

wtf are you talking about? As I said, you don’t have to turn anything in, deactivating it keeps you in compliance. Do you have no reading comprehension skills?

10

u/RydNightwish Mar 11 '26

Kinda inline with guesses. A spike towards the final days. Coupled with a few they are clearly targetting with an email spam campaign. I only got 2 total this year but Ive seen some say they get one every week.

10

u/rastamasta45 Mar 11 '26

I can’t wait when the media will not ask what about the other 110,000 you said in your own numbers was out there (not to mention the millions out there) and the libtards declare victory and say “Canada is now safer” while we get daily shootings and home invasions.

This country is so fucking cooked 🤦🏽

I’ll never fight for a liberal government ever, I regret my previous CAF service too. The unarmed libtards can fight with their upward elbows.

Cowards, suckers and losers. Throwing the entire community under the bus, they really think it’ll stop here. They’ll go after everything. Pathetic.

5

u/Spirited_Pop2211 Mar 11 '26

I’m tryna find where he said that, you got a timestamp and video by any chance? A bit of cope but maybe he added the business numbers and individual numbers to try and boost it up but shiiiiit what do I know

5

u/rastamasta45 Mar 11 '26

Go to Blaine Calkins instagram, his latest post / video

5

u/Spirited_Pop2211 Mar 11 '26

Appreciate it. Like you said cowards, suckers and losers. Non compliance only works if the masses stick together INCLUDING restricteds. I’d rather run the risk than fold on something as stupid as this program.

What was it last week 32k? Nearly 10k a week

8

u/rastamasta45 Mar 12 '26

It was 32,000 as of February 20. So like 3,300 a week

1

u/BigDirrrty Mar 12 '26

Okay, thats not terrible I guess lol

3

u/Lumindan Mar 12 '26

Here's the fun part, how many prohibs do you think exist in Canada?

After 3 waves of OICs and name bans? I think even if the buyback/confiscation hit 100k it'd still be a statistical failure.
