First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Ugh, I don’t like that they’re approaching 50% of the 135k they plan to buyback. A lot of god damn cowards in this country

The ban isnt going away liberals will soon have a majority and will ensure this country votes liberal for another 10 years. The people that declared are realists and dont want to wonder when the rcmp come knocking

The realist see the list of police forces not participating and see they have no way to enforce this, majority or not.

The rcmp can do it and we both know liberals have no problem spending money. They won't spend it on proper compensation but they will spend it to make sure they get more guns. They will hire more rcmp or pay a private company and have rcmp do security.

I'll use the money i get and buy more guns. I'll never give them all up

The RCMP leadership were literally talking about cutting sick days and mental health leave because of how few officers they have left patrolling.

They can’t just make a police force magically get more officers. All police are critically short right now.

You would literally have to remove officers from small towns full time to administer this program and collect the guns.

Its the liberal government.  You should know they would 100% do that . They don't give a shit about proper law enforcement. They would happily let a town go without law enforcement to do this illegal gun grab. 

Although funnily enough if they did pull rcmp out of a town for this im certain crime would drop since people could enforce it on their own and .... have more permanent solutions instead of catch and release.

Well first off, you’re not going to get any money. Second, the RCMP can barely do their job right now, making millions of Canadians criminals only adds onto that. I have a hard time believing you’ll all of a sudden grow a pair next time they come for your guns if you can’t do it this time.

The problem with saying "I'll never give them all up", is you just gave some up. What happens when your bolt gun is declared to be a "high powdered sniper rifle" next?

Giving up what they know i have and what they don't know i have is 2 different things.

Im trying to live my life in this shit country i dont want to worry about a knock at the door. For something i cant even use.

You guys can act tough now. I bet majority will do the same when they know little PP isnt going to do anything becuase hes just as bad as carney.

You didn’t have to turn anything in. The amnesty is till Oct 31 and if you’re that scared of something happening to you you can just deactivate at the last minute. You taking part in their confiscation scheme just helps to legitimize this bullshit and will help them to justify doing it again in the future. You sold us all out for the possible chance of some pocket change

I dont give a shit about the money I did it because of the possibility of going to jail or years of having to goto court dealing with this mess.

You live your life, ill live mine. Keeping a few guns that I cant use that can put me in jail might aswell not be in my possession.

You have no idea what happens after oct31st. Everyone here talks shit about the rcmp but to me its better safe than sorry.

I might have to mute this subreddit it seems to be filled with the same one sided mindset the rest of reddit is full of.

wtf are you talking about? As I said, you don’t have to turn anything in, deactivating it keeps you in compliance. Do you have no reading comprehension skills?
