After the shooting at the Toronto festival, multiple media outlets have reported that the Toronto Police Chief has called for “gun control” and “tougher gun laws” in response to what happened.

However, the reports are highly misleading and inaccurate.

He actually called for tougher sentencing for those who commit firearms offences, especially in crowds.

He said: “We need some reforms that address that and recognize that if you pull out a gun in a public space, in a public square or the Eaton Centre or any other public gathering and fire it indiscriminately, that should be treated with the utmost seriousness in the law.”

This is just one of many examples that prove how biased the media is. Everyone knows that “gun control” refers to laws restricting the acquisition, transfer and possession of firearms, not tougher sentences for things that are already illegal, everywhere.

Make no mistake, the media is not on our side.

It's obvious by the recent numbers/media event where Provost had a meltdown that most people, even those with firearms that were already registered and are now prohibited, are not participating in this clown show.

With that, I just wanted to say that you guys/gals are the real deal.

So — I’ve been feeling pretty patriotic lately, and also pretty pissed off.

I’m just a regular guy. I work full time, take care of my family, and I’ve always followed the rules. Got licensed, did everything the right way, stayed on the right side of the law.

Now I’m sure a lot of you have seen the emails from the RCMP too. There’s a deadline coming up on October 30th, and after that, if you own one of the guns on their list and don’t comply, you’re going to get treated like a criminal for owning something you legally bought and were allowed to have.

That doesn’t sit right with me at all.

We the people who’ve done everything right are the ones being targeted, while the actual problems aren’t being dealt with. We get lumped in with things we have nothing to do with, and somehow we’re the ones paying for it.

I’m not here to argue with anyone — I just needed to say it. This whole situation is wrong, and it’s getting harder to just stay quiet about it.

I know a lot of people are frustrated but brushing it off or staying quiet thinking everything will get better. At some point that stops being an option.

we need something like the freedom convoy but twice as big. this is a massive issue that we can't be passive and dismissive about, I'm not talking about violence but grow a spine and stand up for our God given rights.

I'm not even sure about how to grow the momentum needed for something like that which brings me to why I'm here, I want your help, ideas, and support. together I know we can make a change, and where better to start then here.

Mounties say a former Manitoba member of Parliament is facing several gun offences after 439 firearms were seized from a home in Dauphin, Man.

Inky Mark, 78, faces a dozen charges, including firearms trafficking.

Police say they began investigating in March after another man from Dauphin, who is 73, was charged with firearms offences in the U.S.

Search warrants were executed last week at the Manitoba home, where officers also seized an antique cannon and $300,000 in cash.

Mark was elected under the Reform Party in Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette in 1997 and didn't seek re-election as a Conservative MP in 2010.

He has been released from custody.

Agreed, meanwhile, we also need car control, social media control, real estate housing control, and so on and so forth. Since lack of multi facet approach has caused substantial deaths through the years due to ineffective enforcement and loopholes in the system.

In fact, let's start with tighter knife control first because there were

2014 Calgary stabbing

2020 Quebec city stabbing

2021 North Vancouver stabbing

Last year 2025 Hollow Water First Nation stabbing.

And then the Burnaby RCMP Constable fatally stabbed in the line of duty in Oct 2022.

A multi faceted approach indeed.

The gun grab is falling apart so now they are trying to change the narrative.

The bill makes important changes to Section 34 of the Criminal Code so that force is presumed to be justified if used against an illegal intruder. Conservatives first announced the ‘Stand on Guard’ principle back in August, asking the government to introduce legislation in the fall session.

So obviously here in Canada our government sees private firearm ownership as a privilege rather than a right. My question is, how you guys feel? Do you think gun ownership is a right or a privilege?

When you look at other things people view as rights, such as abortion, freedom of expression and freedom of religion etc. These are all viewed by most as inherently “good rights”, but in many countries these rights are restricted. I think, along with many others, that it is justified to ignore unjust laws that restrict human rights.

I personally believe that firearm ownership is a fundamental human right because it protects all of our other rights and freedoms from being taken away. So even though legally speaking firearm ownership is a privilege that can be taken away at any time here in Canada, I don’t agree with the way our country and many others treat firearm ownership.

I see how CBC just cherry picked the clips thats the most convenient for them and basically skipped over many context.

Also failed to mention thats the one of the affordable and available rifles left in Canada "after" they prohibited 2500 other firearms.

You don't just banned all the firearms and then calling the last one mass murder weapon.

And how many police officers died in the line of duty because of illegal firearms used by gangs and criminals? Where is the number for that?

I've withdrawn from the ASFCP, and wanted to share my experience about it for anyone else considering doing the same.

Why I registered back in January:

Not looking to make excuses, just giving some context around my situation, and why I made my initial decision:

- I had two non-registered firearms affected, both were due for compensation at more or less the exact pre-tax value I purchased them for.

- I am a Québec resident, and therefore, due to the Register, the government already knew what I had.

- Also being a Québec resident, I knew I was more guaranteed than not, to actually receive the compensation.

- I was planning to use the proceeds from my reimbursement to purchase further available firearms. (I ended up purchasing two for each one banned to 'make up for it'.)

- I had also figured that in the event of a class-action lawsuit, having registered may have been a pre-requisite to claim damages.

- I was planning to paint my rifles pink before turning them in, and covering both of them with '♥ Nathalie' in white ink, to deny them any chance of a photo-opp.

Why I decided to Withdraw:

I originally registered in a panic when it opened up, especially as I could have really used the money. Since then however, over the months that have passed, I've been feeling incredibly guilty and regretful in my decision to take part in this. I was also hugely inspired by hearing the numbers they published, and how many people had held strong in solidarity.

Additionally, and one of the most important factors; the behaviour of Nathalie Provost during the last press conference was absolutely disgraceful. She has absolutely no place in government. That ended up being the last straw for me, especially the part where she started yelling at us to 'do our civic duty'.

So Nathalie, if you're reading this, well done; you pushed me to do my actual civic duty.

How the Withdrawal Process Went:

- I called 1-833-759-4551, selected English, and had to go through a couple robo-navigation options.

- I was first in line, and was connected to an agent within less than 1 minute.

- Upon learning of the reason for my call, the agent asked me what the reason for my withdrawal was, to which I explained it was Nathalie Provost's fault, and was withdrawing as a form of protest.

- Following that, I was simply asked for my PAL #, my name, DoB, and email address.

The agent then went away for a couple minutes, and returned to basically take me through the 'things I should know' which included (to the best of my note-taking abilities):

- My case will be moved to 'inactive', but it will not be purged from the system. However, it will be destroyed after 2 years.

- Previously-submitted information may be accessed for monitoring and tracking.

- Withdrawal doesn't mean I don't have to turn them in.

- They can be de-activated or destroyed outside of the programme.

- If the government comes asking me about my firearms, withdrawal doesn't mean I am exempt from cooperating with them.

- If my firearms are used in criminal activity, they may be traced back to me.

Once I agreed to all of this, he then left for a second very short hold of a couple min, and then returned to inform me that I can expect to receive a phone call from a representative from Public Safety Canada within 10 days to discuss further, and he gave me a case number to use with them.

He then asked me which province I was calling from, and that was the end of the call.

I timed it from start to finish, it only took 13 minutes total.

The agent was absolutely lovely, super professional -- overall really a 10/10 experience on that front.

Conclusion

If you are in a similar position to me, please consider doing so; its not too late! It was a genuinely super easy and painless process.

The prospect of losing the cash hurts, but what hurt more was, over the past months, knowing I didn't do the right thing.

With the absolutely catastrophic participation, and the upcoming Supreme Court Challenge, we have a better chance than ever.

Just saw this video that came up on my YouTube feed. Prior to 1969 I guess it was legal to hunt with a handgun/revolver. In less than 60 years so much has changed in regards to bs firearms restrictions smh.
