Good example Quebec Looking at you Eby and BC

55

u/Top_Importance6216 Feb 28 '26

eby and his voters are all brainwashed lobotomites.

as a bc resident; dont hold out hope for us, these people refuse to be educated.

21

u/Liam_M Feb 28 '26

False I’m an Eby voter and I oppose the buyback and all of C21 and the resulting OICs. I know a lot of others as well, as the saying goes you go far enough left you get your guns back. If we had a protest here I’d be there right along side the rest of you

still crazy how every single british columbian is grouped in with the lower mainland, almost every person I've met boots on the ground outside the internet from our province is against c21 and the OIC'S like yourself. i'm one of them too.

in the past when i've travelled to the lower mainland for metal and punk shows no one even cared that I shoot guns for fun, no one lost their marbles or anything either. 9 times out of 10 they would either say "oh that's nice" or "tell me a bit about it! I never heard much about shooting or our guns laws" so of course I would happily tell them and explain how going out the range is a lot like going to a show, you do your thing, chat a bit about shooting and guns (like talking bands and music in between sets) do your thing some more and head home.

all those cool experiences was by just being a normal person who slipped it into the conversation of what I like to do as hobbies up north. I didn't throw out any insults or any other nonsense.

2

u/Liam_M Mar 01 '26

I live in the lower mainland, the majority here I talk to outside the range don’t support OIC’s/C21. At least part of the problem is people who don’t get exposed to firearms hear “firearm issue, government doing a thing about guns” and they lack the understanding of how vetted we already are or what the new rules really entail, and because they lack that understanding or impact on their lives it sounds good to them and they support it, because in their view it’s “tough on crime” now we all know that’s nonsense because we’re invested and educated on the matter. The solution is getting more people responsibly shooting, the closer we can get to everyone knowing someone who shoots the more these people will realize it’s not a hobby full of people itching to be the next mass shooter

But if you vote far enough left they get banned.

The “left” parties in this country aren’t the good kinda left that accepts firearm ownership.

4

u/Liam_M Mar 01 '26

not yet but Left leaning gun ownership is growing, likely the fastest growing demographic of gun owners in Canada right now

1

u/Dream_of_Iron_Sheep Mar 28 '26

That's because our "leftist" parties are centrists/liberals. We desperately need a true workers' party.

2

u/black_covfefe_please Mar 02 '26

Do you oppose bill C-2? C-8? C-9?

2

u/Liam_M Mar 02 '26

I’ve been warned to stay more closely on topic so let me know specifically the firearms related provisions in those pieces of legislation you’re concerned with and I’ll give you an answer

2

u/black_covfefe_please Mar 02 '26

Fair enough. I was off topic with that question.

3

u/mywaaaaife Feb 28 '26

Gross.

6

u/Liam_M Mar 01 '26

And this is why this shit happens to you all, way to win friends on the other side politically who share your concerns on THIS issue. God forbid I agree with you on firearms issues but disagree on others. Talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater

6

u/mywaaaaife Mar 01 '26

How can you look around at what’s happening to our province and country and then decide you want to vote for more of it? I don’t want the friendship of the people who wished for my death just a few years ago.

Spare me, tolerant left.

2

u/Liam_M Mar 01 '26

And this is why so many of you are your own worst enemy “If you won’t work with imperfect allies, you guarantee permanent opposition.”

2

u/Top_Importance6216 Mar 01 '26

its hilarious you think you're an ally for agreeing on one thing

-1

u/Liam_M Mar 01 '26

Your idea of funny is strange. I’m not an Ally. Our interests are aligned on that one thing. I never claimed anything more than that, let alone allyship of any type. Do you LIKE the policy whiplash of shit getting banned and regulated, then unbanned back and forth? I mean maybe you like re-buying stuff I don’t know you. I know I don’t like it

0

u/Top_Importance6216 Mar 01 '26

correct.

you used the term not us.

keep justifying your braindead voting tho

2

u/Top_Importance6216 Mar 01 '26

and yet you voted for eby?

I stand vindicated.

1

u/Liam_M Mar 01 '26

Must be nice that the only concern you have is firearms. I have other considerations I have to consider as well. Yea if I was only concerned with firearms laws yup he’d do nothing for me, unfortunately I have bigger fish to fry than my shooting hobby when I’m voting

Eby is never going to win the next election so he’s not gonna give two cents about this

5

u/jay370gt Mar 01 '26

Eby is too busy giving people’s land away.

85

u/catchinNkeepinf1sh Feb 28 '26

We are finally uniting against stupid, money wasting rules they try to backhand implement.

77

u/613mitch Feb 28 '26

Seems like a good turnout. Proud of everyone who was able to make it.

30

u/Icy-Veterinarian8662 Feb 28 '26

Just got back, there was something over 1000 people easily I'd say. There was a dude who had a goat too lol

24

u/Maleficent_Ad_2259 Feb 28 '26

I gave a chips to the goat.

8

u/Thunderbolt747 on Mar 01 '26

I can tell you're quebeqois just by the venacular "a chips"

Love you guys, good job on the protest.

9

u/Maleficent_Ad_2259 Mar 01 '26

One day ill perfectly blend in

Oui Oui, tabarnak de câlice! 🗣🔊🔊🇲🇶⚜️

54

u/Hot_Cheesecake_905 Feb 28 '26

That is a respectable turnout, given that Canadian gun owners are usually silent.

3

u/YetAnotherWTFMoment Mar 04 '26

that's because the federal government would totally use every means at their disposal to identify protest march attendees and take their gear away citing public safety.

39

u/SpanishSyrup Feb 28 '26

great to see!

26

u/PrestigiousStatus711 Feb 28 '26

Good work to everyone involved from organizing to attending. Keep on fighting

48

u/PageAggravating4460 Feb 28 '26

Should organize something like this in the lower mainland to show BC is against C-21!

8

u/NikthePieEater Feb 28 '26

Where are we meeting?

2

u/nortontwo Mar 01 '26

It starts with a fella like you getting it going, you should!

23

u/Maleficent_Ad_2259 Feb 28 '26

Grande allée street was packed with passenger buses. Quite a few people made a few hours trip to get there.

19

u/Apprehensive_Help838 Feb 28 '26

remember that time Trudeau said a gun ban would never happen in Canada?

13

u/DonAzuld Mar 01 '26

Pepperidge farm remembers.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '26

turdeau was a massive lying scumbag, he should be in prison.

2

u/gamercast1337 Mar 05 '26

Okay but really even ignoring guns, the fact he ISNT in jail for everything else he did is actually insane.

1

u/frostedflokey Mar 06 '26

Trudeau in and around 2015 make declarations that the UN had assigned him the job of disarming his pathetic nation. He was "promised" a seat on the UN security committee if he instigated this plan. Im sure that little traitor will show his face again,, once Mr. Carney finishes his trips around the globe, selling portions of our land to much better run nations. Canada has and always will be the nation of compliant voters who go along to get along. Case in point. We have from rough estimates ,well over 1 million firearms owners. Thats an army. We could with the right frames of mind, put these SOVIET style laws into the fire where they belong and have our government afraid of us instead of the other way around..

15

u/CarpetSoft2741 Feb 28 '26

alberta boy here i kinda figured quebec and ontario have alot of gun owners thank you eastern boyz for fighting back! it felt like alberta was getting picked on and no one cared !

11

u/swiend Mar 01 '26

I was there with my son. We drove up from Montreal. Our first rally ever, it was pretty impressive. Many like minded people for a good cause. I got to see Tracy Wilson as well!👍

34

u/_axeman_ Feb 28 '26

CBC will say only 10 people showed up

36

u/Maleficent_Ad_2259 Feb 28 '26

10 right wing extremists. If they ever mention it.

41

u/nschwart91 Feb 28 '26

I wish people would leave the Texan and American Revolutionary flags at home. Doesn't quite send the right message.

22

u/Icy-Veterinarian8662 Feb 28 '26

Playing too soft to find "the right message" is what landed us in a position where people are too afraid to make a show of their opinions. The overton window is shifting. Slowly, but cyclically as always.

6

u/conanap Feb 28 '26

That’s not finding the right message; they’re straight up the wrong message. We’re not American, we don’t want to be American, and America is not remotely close to what we should strive for.

That said, I feel like a significant portion of this sub just wants us to be American, so y’all would probably disagree.

7

u/Cre_AK47 Name Prohibited by OIC Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

That said, I feel like a significant portion of this sub just wants us to be American, so y’all would probably disagree.

I'm sure if the Laurentian Elites would have changed their tone on a few issues, the desire to be American would be significantly less. It's really that simple. Stop banning our guns for zero reason.

Hell, if we had a Visa-free EU style economic pack where Canadians and Americans can live, work or study wherever they want between the two countries, then the desire to be of another nationality would disappear overnight, because the gun loving Quebecer can just live in the French speaking part of Maine and enjoy the pro gun rights guaranted in the state, while still working in Quebec, and able to continue voting in Canadian elections only.

1

u/conanap Mar 01 '26

Is gun ownership the only reason you want to be American? (There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s a gun sub after all)

FWIW, a lot of Canadians don’t want to be American for a variety of reasons - hypercapitalism, poor public education, political and societal polarization, etc. Fundamentally, we are similar but also very different.

There’s nothing right or wrong about preferring the US and its economic / political systems compared to Canada’s, but this rally was about legal gun owners keeping our legally acquired guns, not about how our political and governmental systems differ from the US. With US trust and perception at an all time low for a significant portion of Canadians, I hope it’s easy to see why a Texan / US flag in this crowd would just turn a lot of people off.

Personally not the only reason, but a big one. What really grinds my gears the most is that our rights are basically government granted privileges that can be revoked AT ANY TIME, whether it's the judiciary calming government boot stomping is rightly acceptable under section 1 of the charter (by pulling random rationale's out of their ass), or in in the rare times provincial/federal judges pushes back on government overreach, the gov can just ram and invoke Section 33 to nullify any rights between Sections 2 and 7-15... It's literally an honour system that takes ONE PERSON to abuse. Just look at what Quebec is doing to Muslims for example... Not to mention, we literally have no tangible property rights what so ever. Sure it's mentioned in the "Bill of Rights", but that's just a Federal Law/Act of Parliament that can be repealed/ignored at any time and for any reason because it literally has a back door for the gov at the end:

"1 (a): The right of the individual to life, liberty, security of the person and enjoyment of property, and the right not to be deprived thereof except by due process of law"

Basically those rights go away if the acting government legislates a ban on whatever they want, and for guns thanks to Pierre Eliot Trudeau, the Governor General/Privy Council can also sign an OIC that would make that property illegal, which in turn makes that provision of that section of the Bill of Rights, void and useless anyways. The Bill of Rights doesn't apply to Provincial governments either. That's how the Oka Crisis unfolded (As municipalities are creatures of the province. Constitutionally, municipalities don't exist as an order of government)

Personally I agree the revolutionary/Texas flags are out of place for a Canadian gun rally, but I can understand why they brought them.

1

u/conanap Mar 02 '26

Oh yeah, the nonwithstanding clause really grinds my gears too. Unfortunately, we’re in an era where provinces seem to refuse to cooperate, so that’s unlikely to change - ever.

1

u/Icy-Veterinarian8662 Mar 01 '26

Keep in mind, it's okay to envy some things that Americans have without wanting to be american.

A sign that says "2nd amendment for Canada" or the Don't tread on me flag don't mean we want to be American, it means we envy that part of America for ourselves

1

u/conanap Mar 02 '26

For sure, but it’s definitely more indicative of they rose a sign that says “give us rights to own guns” than just an American flag

1

u/frostedflokey Mar 06 '26

We lack leaders who can use the American psyche as a way to motivate fellow Canadians. Most people arent in line with American Imperialism but they sure align with their patriotism. As a Canadian, I have seen us over the years distance ourselves from the American Way and we sure didnt become a better Canadian identity because of it. The American flags are to inspire us to fight and be more patriotic than anything. Canada is sorely in need of a confidence boost. Were great people. The generational ones are. We have been made to feel like and look like shit ever since the Left became the party of everything weak and effeminate.

1

u/conanap Mar 06 '26

Yeah… that’s not what I would get from seeing an American flag lol. Given the current context, all I’d get is that there appears to be Albertan separatist in the mix for that protest. You’re better off using signs with words.

I have seen us over the years distance ourselves from the American Way

As in a hyper-capitalistic oligarchy or a progressively less democratic country? Because we’ve been going towards both of those. The only thing we’ve only really “distanced” ourselves, until recently anyways, in any manner is to tell ourselves “at least we’re not the US” to justify stagnation.

Economic ties have become progressively more tight knit between the two nations, we’ve had political parties consolidate slowly into two parties like the US, and oligarchies have become ever more powerful and richer in Canada, just like the US.

I’m unsure why you think we’ve distanced ourselves from the US way, when for years we’ve been going in that direction, convincing ourselves it’s ok because “at least we’re not US”.

9

u/RydNightwish Feb 28 '26

At the rate the libs and thier voters keep pushing immigration rates and importing the worlds problems. (While making new loopholes) we will be lucky to see non-3rd world flags at any protest before long. Let alone canadian.

-9

u/PrestigiousStatus711 Feb 28 '26

Sends a great message to the people to who want to confiscate our property. Need more people with that kind of attitude if we want to keep our property.

9

u/CountryFine Feb 28 '26

The last thing our community needs right now is more association with the US

11

u/PrestigiousStatus711 Feb 28 '26

Those pesky Americans and their willingness to stand up for themselves and their rights. More of that attitude in our community would be a good thing. Expressing those attitudes peacefully at a protest is even better.

We are going to be associated with the United States either way. Remind yourself what the last two letters of CCFR stand for and which country that will be associated with by anyone who is against firearms ownership.

5

u/CountryFine Feb 28 '26

As a community we can embrace those ideas and attitudes without waving american flags around. The US is on very thin ice with the majority of people we are trying to get on our side, if it appears with are embracing their ideologies it will not help our community in any way.

You are correct people uneducated on the topic will associate firearms with american culture. But the answer to that is not to embrace the association, its to show and teach that as Canadians we have a different culture around firearms. We treat firearms with respect, acknowledging that these are dangerous tools, that not everyone should have access to. We have stricter licensing, storage laws etc.

The 2nd amendment has its benefits for sure, but the idea to treat guns as a god given right and not a privilege that needs to be earned and respected has caused a lot of issues down south, and i dont think its a belief that we should be trying to push in canada.

3

u/BLVCKSCVLE Feb 28 '26

Great to see such a turnout! I wrote to news outlets asking why there isn't any coverage on this. I know I won't get a reply, but hey, worth a try

3

u/RebelTechCoatings Feb 28 '26

Real good to see👊

3

u/3hands4milo Mar 01 '26

Much needed.

3

u/No-Night-48 Mar 01 '26

Thank you to everyone who peacefully protested and represented our rights.

3

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Feb 28 '26

Quebec is the one pushing all this... I hope these people are able to actually make a difference... won't hold my breath though.

17

u/Maleficent_Ad_2259 Feb 28 '26

Poly and the liberal. Nobody is advocating for this.

1

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Mar 01 '26

The ones that are pushing the gun grab sure are noisy.

3

u/beginnerdoge Mar 01 '26

I wish protesting in our country actually made a difference. Government will just ignore it and press on sadly.

Good on you Quebec. (Can't believe I just said that lol)

1

u/thxxx1337 Mar 01 '26

I went to Ottawa March. It's crazy how much the media downplayed it. I hope we do more.
