Misc Drawing up plans for a DIY target stand, any suggestions?

Trying to figure out the best way to go about building a target stand for hanging targets and something to staple cardboard/targets to. This is what I came up with.

The idea is, the legs can slide into the feet, and the single 2x4’s can slide into the legs for easy disassembly. Can easily fit in the back of my SUV, and carried out by two people. Distance will be anywhere from 100-1500 yards on crown land.

Anything you guys think I’m missing? I’ve never really built anything with wood like this before lol

Misc What’s an appropriate age to give a child a BB/pellet gun?

When I was 8 years old or so, my father took me to Canadian Tire and bought me a Ruger Explorer to learn to shoot. That’s one of the few good childhood memories I share with him. I’m just shy of my 22nd birthday and I still have it.

Today is my nieces 4th birthday, and it got me thinking, what is an appropriate age to buy a kid a BB/pellet gun? I know it greatly matters how mature a kid is, but I was mainly curious as to roughly what age a child truly understands how to act appropriately with a gun, even if it’s “just” a Red Ryder or something.

What are your thoughts?

Since we're getting some more goodies into the Canadian market, how likely do y'all think it would be to get something like this here?

For years I've been talking with my buddies how we need a 17 HMR semi auto rifle like this. First time I've really found one that fit my dreams 😅

Misc Any retailers taking pre-orders of OIC prohibited models, in anticipation of a positive court case in November?

I'm hoping the court case goes our way later this year, and if it does... There's going to be a sudden rush & huge backlog of orders getting placed.

I'd literally give my left testicle for a Ruger 9mm carbine, and would be happy to prepay or pay a deposit, to be able to pick it up immediately if (when... hopefully) the OIC's are struck down.

I haven't seen anything like this online - any of you fine people heard of any retailers doing this?

Misc I have a problem with Canadian Caliber

I have noticed in their reviews they don't say anything negative about the guns they are "reviewing". All they have is saying positive things about the gun and appear to be shilling out.

What made me post this here is they are deleting all YouTube comments that have any criticisms associated with their flawed review style.

In a industry so small we need people that actually reviews products and not shill. We can't just have people talking complete positive and ignoring any problems.

I have a alcor 223 but I have had problems with it. It baffles me a review channel can go about ignoring everything and deleting comments just to prop up a product.

Deleting comments was a tipping point for me. Even if they weren't deleting comments and this was all a YouTube glitch, they still need to start reviewing effectively.

Do better Canadian Caliber

Misc Am I the only one that hates the feel and aesthetic of pistol grips on shotguns?

I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I genuinely can’t stand pistol grips on 99% of shotguns. Every time I see one, especially on pump shotguns, it just feels wrong aesthetically and looks awkward to hold.

There’s something about a traditional stock that just fits the look and feel of a shotgun better. Pistol grips always make them look overly “tactical” in a way that feels forced, like they’re trying too hard to be an action movie prop instead of an actual practical firearm.

For me they feel clunky, less natural to shoulder, and way less comfortable when firing heavier loads. A classic stock just feels smoother and more intuitive.

Obviously on automatic shotguns they look cool and are probably better to use, but we don;t have those here so I don't count those.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Misc Sanity check on firearm shipping from a Canadian gun shop

I need to figure out if I'm over reacting...

How many business days should there be between the "we have your order and we're processing it" note...and them actually shipping the new NR rifle you bought from a business in Canada?

What number is acceptable to you, and how many days before you start to get miffed?

UPDATE: I appreciate everyone's feedback. It is a legit Canadian business I've ordered from before, and I had already tried email and calling on day 4 but got the "call us during business hours" msg during business hours. AND - as I write this, they finally sent a tracking number on day 5.

I've been looking for some Monstrum optics (i know i know, I'm cheap) for my rf224. But barely see them on Canadian websites. This Canadian safety course has some listings, but I don't know if it is a trustworthy seller.

Post image

Just like the title says. This 9mm looks amazing and reviews say it’s great. Why hasn’t this been marketed in Canada yet?? 9mm is the best plinking/pest control calibre and this rifle seems perfect for that. This looks like a great replacement for anyone who had a semi PCC.

Misc I screwed up

My original gun build plan was a tikka ctr truetimber 6.5 creed 24'' from cabelas and a cadex field competition chassis. I bought the chassis as a special order yesterday only to find out that the tikka ctr truetimber is soldout in the country.

Now I can only get the 20'' ctr which is 100fps less than the 24'' and I am mad at myself. Does anyone know where I can get a tikka ctr 6.5creed in 24 inch barrel?

Misc Bear Creek Arsenal BC-8

I was wandering around youtube when I came across a SmallArmsSolutions review for this particular platform. Somewhat interestingly, it seems mostly C-21 compliant? It has a proprietary 5 round magazine and seems to be extended to work with their proprietary BC-8 uppers, so it's not AR-10 compatible. Thoughts on whether or not this would actually be legal to import into Canada? I suspect it might be caught on being an "AR Variant" but it'd be interesting to hear all of your thoughts.

If anyone is looking for full time work right now and lives in Halton/Peel region in Ontario. The Georgetown Canadian Tire is hiring for a new pro-shop associate who has experience with firearms/hunting. They want people to apply in person for this position though. I took a photo of the wanted ad at the store when I was there recently.

Picked this Henry Homesteader up on sale the other weekend. And now that the heat wave is gone, the plan is to hit the pits this weekend and let it rip.

Took the green dot off the derya and threw it on here for some 100 yard shenanigans.

Looking forward to trying out a few different packs of ammo. Got some different grain pmc rounds and some federal and blazer.

Misc Question about 308 prices

I used to shoot quite a lot just around the beginning of the dark times. Around then and before in the 2010s i remember 308 being a cheap full rifle size cartridge. As I came back into the hobby the start of this year I noticed 308 has gone way up in price and especially after seeing a box of 30-06 going for the same rate in cabelas yesterday I’m just left wondering what’s happened? I’ve heard the global wars are to be responsible but then why hasn’t .223, 7.62x54 or 39 seen the same increases?
