Misc Getting the new rifle ready for the weekend.
Picked this Henry Homesteader up on sale the other weekend. And now that the heat wave is gone, the plan is to hit the pits this weekend and let it rip.
Took the green dot off the derya and threw it on here for some 100 yard shenanigans.
Looking forward to trying out a few different packs of ammo. Got some different grain pmc rounds and some federal and blazer.

Pro tip
I assume you have stripped it and cleaned it ?
Use gun grease/choke tube grease on the action bars so they are nice and lubes, it will last longer than oil
They are a weak point on the rifle
I have gone thru 2 of them already (7500 plus rounds)
Every time henry sends me a new set within 2 weeks along with a hat, coffee cup and key chain !
Amazing company to deal with

Appreciate the tip on the rails, after tomorrow ill make sure to put some grease on em. Is there any specific spots youd recommend?

I lube them up with grease everywhere front and back before putting it back together just thin to medium layer, I wear disposable gloves for the process

Hmm maybe ill pop them out real quick before leaving and do that. When you warrantied them, did you reach out to Henry directly?

Yes I deal with Henry direct , they are aware of the issue and currently working on making them out of different material
I dealt with Henry direct in Rice Lake Wisconsin, these guys at Henry treat you like family and provide top tier communication
I had international tracking number the next day and they sent them air mail to me directly to Canada both times
I will do anything to avoid dealing with that miserable drunk John @ Gretch

Not to say it will ever happen with the action bars but I might
There are about 5 other fellows on CGN that this has happened too
Still worth it
The homesteader is phenomenal rifle

Solid! I picked one up finally a couple weeks ago. Very solid and quite accurate the little bit I’ve shot it.

This thing ran like an absolute dream today. 400 rds of varying brands and not a single light strike, FTE, or jam.
Its an absolute nail gun at 100 yards with a red dot. So I can only imagine how accurate these things would be with an lpvo or some sort of magnification.
Wife liked it so much. She's thinking about getting her own.
Overall, extremely happy with the first impression, will update again every 2000rds or so, if I can remember 🫡
Forgot to add: only issue seems to be one of my 10/32 extended glock magazines seems to cause a bit of binding when initially releasing the bolt. Only seems to happen 10/10 rds so im thinking its something to do with the pin being a bit tight.

If the mag adapter is anything like the ruger's, be careful of forceful insertion of the mag, or shooting the extended mags while seated and them acting as a monopod, creates issues.

Yesh the extended mag just for fun. Normal sized 10/17s are the way to go if seated for sure.
Adapter ran great on everything other than the big stick haha, seemed like the bolt release was a bit sticky with the long one. Sometimes have to jiggle the bolt a bit to get it to release on them. The others ran smooth as butter though

I hope it doesn't get banned bro, I was chapped when I upgraded essentially the same rifle and bought tonnes of 9mm for it all to be useless.

Super fun little guns, by the way Neumann Metalworks (Canadian company) just put out an aluminum Mlok handguard for them. Midwest industries was the only other metal option and they have been discontinued sadly. There are other 3d printed options too but the aluminum handguard seems much better vs 3D printed. I just ordered the handguard and picatinny stock/pistol grip adapter, pretty reasonably priced too, it worked out to $170 with shipping and tax. Just a thought if you wanna go for a traditional tacticool setup. The rifle is very nice as it is too, I just got a bit tired of the wood after a year or so.
Mine has been incredibly reliable and Henry has been fantastic. No issues with action bars breaking but I did loose my front site, and asked for some mag well replacement pins and they mailed it all to me with no charge from the USA.
I love that Henry is like the one gun company willing to take their customers word for it and just mail you the parts to fix it yourself, rather than most companies wanting you to send your rifle in for simple warranty work.
