Edit: okay holy shit rip Mr Kotanko. Basically the Toronto police department executed a search warrant against him for whatever reason, entered his shop with guns drawn and gunned him down on the spot.

Mr Kotanko was accused of illegally supplying two 1911s to criminals which were found registered to him at two different crime scenes. My guess is that they were stolen. They also claimed he pointed a gun at them, which also could very well be completely made up, but either way real genius move to conduct a violent armed raid against a gunsmith. Fucking idiots. The whole situation seems incredibly gross and dubious and is a clear example of the police covering their own asses about a clear cut case of police brutality. Even if Mr Kotanko was guilty of what he was accused of this is still an atrocious example of police brutality.

Iā€™m not even joking the fucking CBC tried to justify this murder due to the sign Mr Kotanko had on his shop that said ā€œdue to the rising costs of ammo donā€™t expect a warning shotā€.

I am shocked I didnā€™t know about this earlier. You cannot hate the government and their jackboot thugs nearly enough.

Coles note, Toronto police went to Norfolk because someone had a gun that used to belong to him that was used in a crime. They raided his shop while he was with a customer. Cops said he reached for a gun they shot him dead with zero consequences. Itā€™s super sketchy because the only informed OPP minutes before the raid. He was highly respected in the community and often did work for the OPP

Yeah I saw this too. This is genuinely insane man Iā€™m shocked I didnā€™t know about this. I noticed his family and the customer filed a lawsuit. I truly hope those bastards who shot him get some justice. Or at the very least I hope they cannot sleep well for the rest of their lives knowing what theyā€™ve done

Nah itā€™s worse than that. They confiscated his log books with all records of whoever he sold his firearms to. The speculation is he sold these pistols to someone who has connection to TPS (I watched a documentary alleging it was a TPS officers son - though this part is hard to prove without the logbook). The person with connections to TPS trafficked the guns and the raid/shooting/confiscation is part of the coverup protecting TPS from their involvement.

Again, all speculation until we have access to the logbook.

The police sat outside his home while he was away getting groceries with his wife, waited for him to arrive home, watched him meet with his customer and go into his gunshop together. Rather than pull him over in the driveway, or wait until he was done and in the house they chose to confront him in his gunshop, with a customer inside, and were totally shocked he was holding a gun when they entered. It's like going into a McDonald's and being totally surprised someone is holding a hamburger. When you hire clowns for officers a circus is the only possible outcome.

The odd thing is, unless someone is looking for a pension or job security i feel like anyone properly qualified for this position is probably already doing so privately.

The other issue is down the road i see this being a bigger issue. Between the handgun freeze and AR platforms being banned how is this role going to get filled in the future? i.e. unless the laws change, who's getting hands on experience with a lot of the firearms they'd have to be working on for LE.

These are the spots CAF weapons techs fight for as an exit strategy from the CAF. Lots of times supporters from CANSOF will apply to have a slower tempo day to day.

Average salary of canuckistan is around 68k. Thats okay.

100k though, is pretty good. If I had that kinda moolah, I'd be investing as much as possible to make up for my younger mistakes.

It seems like STEM degrees are worth less than the paper they are printed on these days.

I make $6343/month, net income, and every year my wages are increased/indexed according to the the Consumer Price Index. No STEM degree

I now fly a desk and push pencils and make 4k/mo net by doing something completely unrelated to my degree. Last time I worked in a related field I made 2500/mo net if not less, with no pay increase.
