Misc Is these even Legal to purchase as a PAL owner?

Post image

I saw this L2D Combat Complete Tyton Upper kit on RDSC.ca, and it doesn't have a prohibited tag on it. What's up with this?

The only part that is considered “pistol” in the eyes of the law is the lower receiver. Government is too busy punishing legal gun owners to care about gamgbangers 3D printing lowers.

Yeah. The only regulation on handgun parts kits are a PAL verification and that's a very recent rule. Also handguns aren't Prohibited anyway.

To clarify confusion some people may have. RDSC changed the listings for handguns to say “prohibited” because that was prob quicker than removing all the listings and maybe re making them in the future.

  1. Slides and barrels aren't firearms.
  2. Handguns aren't prohibited. They're restricted with the caveat that the government will no longer issue new registration certificates for handguns except in specific circumstances.

👆

  1. Limits on transfer but no class change.

The only thing that should be prohibited about this is the price

Can't do much about our weak dollar...

conversion rate is rarely the source of the discrepancy

3

u/Lumindan Jun 04 '26

A quick Google search shows the American pricing is significantly better.

2

u/TheAwesomeTree Jun 04 '26

That’s not necessarily about our currency strength

2

u/LeeFrann Jun 05 '26

what I was getting at is that we get gouged more than it's a problem of currency.. man this sub..

Very curious as to why you think it should be marked as prohib

Cause lack of education, and instead of self educating themselves, they proudly place their ignorance in public view, acting like they have some smart position based on false morality.

People don't know what they don't know. Until they do know they don't, they won't know they don't know and so assume with what they know they do.

Said well this phrase was

It do be like that.

16

u/MourningWood1942 Jun 04 '26

It kind of seems like they weren’t sure so they were asking…to educate themselves

The upper here is not considered a firearm. The lower is what makes the firearm and that is prohibited to buy now.

5

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jun 04 '26

and that is prohibited to buy now.

For most individuals, that is. Some people have exemptions that allows transfers of handguns.

Funny they don't care about the barrel. "upper" receiver kits on ar-15s don't include the barrel do they?

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jun 04 '26

Technically they do care about the barrels now after C-21, as barrels and handgun slides became controlled items that requires a PAL.

Not prohibited, just sales frozen

8

u/JurboVolvo Jun 04 '26

I mean it’s not a gun. If you had an existing legal pistol you could still buy all these parts for it.

6

u/mokapotWONTmokapot Jun 04 '26

Yes that’s not a gun those are gun parts

Just to play devil's advocate, there a re a bunch of sites that have oic guns and those sites are obvious scam sites. If a retailer is willing to "sell" illegal firearms they are either trying to scam you or not a good business to deal with. This is not the case here. RDSC is legit and a great company to deal with.

RDSC is fantastic just some stuff is pricey but you get what you pay for

7

u/Fuck_you_all22 Jun 04 '26

Yikes price.

7

u/Daedalus-N7 Jun 04 '26

Eh about standard price with how bad our dollar is. When I bought my l2d complete slide like 5 years ago I paid around $1200 after tax for it. You can always get a mystery meat pot metal barrel and slide from China for cheaper if you want to test your luck...

1

u/Fuck_you_all22 Jun 04 '26

I guess what you pay for

1

u/Daedalus-N7 Jun 05 '26

That sure was a bunch of words

1

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

It’s been that way for long time, same reason I got my glock 19x slide optics cut cerakoted and dragon snout done by blackbox customs in Alberta for way cheaper

6

u/TescoValueSoup Jun 04 '26

Nice try Nathalie

2

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Yes, only the frame isn’t now or registered part unless you have an exemption which is only for 22 far as I know

3

u/Mean-Bug546 Jun 04 '26

You can get Exemptions for .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, 10mm, .38 Special, .44 special, and .45 Colt if you are getting your WATC for Trapping/wilderness protection

1

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Really? As far as I know it’s not easy to get into trapping… I’m in the kootenays bc and even our neighbourhood needs wilderness protection lol

  1. Pistols aren’t prohibited, so it wouldn’t have a prohibited tag on it even it was a pistol.

  2. An upper is not a pistol, it’s just some pieces of metal.

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jun 04 '26

Handgun parts, outside of barrels under 105mm, are not prohibited. You need a PAL to buy barrels and slides post-C21 and that's it.

Handgun frames (or FCUs) are RESTRICTED and not prohibited, it's just that there is a transfer ban in place for most people without an exemption.

Please educate yourself.

Canadian Firearm forums such as this one are literally the place to “educate yourself”…

3

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jun 04 '26

I would not begin my question with a preconceived notion... just saying.

3

u/yolo_swagdaddy Jun 04 '26

That’s literally how questions work? “I thought X, but it’s Y, how come?” Very different than OP posting “why isn’t this marked prohib?!?!” And trying to argue why they think it should be. Should be encouraging questions from people that don’t know everything there is about firearms. Responding to people trying to learn the way you and others do is detrimental to the cause, every gun shop and show is filled with people like that and it drives me up the wall.

1

u/Tactical_Skittles Jun 04 '26

Yes, still treated the same as before the freeze

1

u/saneboy Jun 04 '26

As others have said, it's not a firearm, so it doesn't fall under the pistol transfer ban.

1

u/New-Entrance7841 Jun 07 '26

Firearm=serialed parts=receivers/frames,other items are just items. AR uppers are named being banned so it is a special circumstance.

1

u/BigheadReddit Jun 08 '26

Yes. All that is legal with a PAL
