Misc Sanity check on firearm shipping from a Canadian gun shop

I need to figure out if I'm over reacting...

How many business days should there be between the "we have your order and we're processing it" note...and them actually shipping the new NR rifle you bought from a business in Canada?

What number is acceptable to you, and how many days before you start to get miffed?

UPDATE: I appreciate everyone's feedback. It is a legit Canadian business I've ordered from before, and I had already tried email and calling on day 4 but got the "call us during business hours" msg during business hours. AND - as I write this, they finally sent a tracking number on day 5.

Lol I love their ammo prices and shipping costs... but takes nearly a week and a half for it to arrive and I live only 5 hours away

Same with RDSC i live an hour an a half north of them and it takes them longer to send it then it does traveling

1

u/717Luxx May 08 '26

well that seems reasonable... small businesses aren't Amazon, and shouldn't be held to that standard either.

u/DougMacRay617 May 08 '26

Its reasonable for them to take a week to ship an item? Lmao. They aren't that busy

1

u/717Luxx May 08 '26

i live an hour an a half north of them

it takes them longer to send it then it does traveling

a week to dispatch an order might be frustrating. taking longer than 3 hours to get it to you, or even dispatch the the order, isn't.

1

u/DougMacRay617 May 08 '26

Who said anything about 3 hours? Im just saying its takes them an unreasonable amount of time to send it. Once sent it usually arrives next day.

1

u/717Luxx May 08 '26

wtf are you saying in that comment then?

it takes longer for them to send it then (sic) it takes to travel.

longer than it takes you to travel there? yeah I'd fuckin think so. what else would you possibly be saying.

He's saying it takes longer for them to get it ready to ship out than it does transit time in the mail

Which is exactly my experiences with them. idk if they only ship once a week or what but I order something on the weekend and I get a ship notification on Thursday lol

1

u/Eglitarian May 07 '26

Who do they use for shipping?

1

u/CurlyWurly61 May 07 '26

UPS $20 flat

u/Possible_Jellyfish69 May 15 '26

Usually takes 2 weeks for me, and I live 30 min away lol

u/SierraRomeoJuliet May 07 '26

Im an hour away and it also takes a week and a half 😅 that tells you how much I refuse to go to the GTA lol

Tenda - take money - order from North Sylva - ship it out Friday if they make the delivery on time - profit

3

u/King-Conn May 07 '26

I've had good luck with Tenda. About a week to get ammo to NB from them.

I mean every company is different. Some are quick some take a week. For starters maybe let people know from which site

7

u/Wiggum13 May 07 '26

I’ve waited everywhere from 4 days to 4 months. Every company is different. If you want an update, call them. I find most companies get stuff out as fast as possible unless their online stock was wrong. Or some addresses get kinda funky when it comes to shipping.

It took a week for RDSC to ship my order. Two days when I ordered from Canada's Gun Store. 2 days from Al Flaherty.

Depends if they're a big shop or if they have a small staff, if they recently had a big sale, etc. Usually I'd want to hear something in a few days.

I impulse ordered a part from CSC the other day in the morning when I woke up around 8, and by 1pm they had called me to confirm some details and had it shipped by the end of the day. Was pretty crazy tbh didn't even get a couple days of processing to think my impulse purchase through 🤣

2

u/epnk420 May 08 '26

Yeah I did the same thing like a month ago they don’t even give you time to think before it’s shipped lol they’re great

u/Fit_Fuel_6515 May 07 '26

Let us know how much time you've been waiting, and what you ordered, to where it's being shipped, so we can estimate what is taking so long

In my recent online shopping, I have had firearms shipping within Alberta in as short as three business days, purchase time online to landing at my home.

I have also had one Ontario purchase that took 10 business days to reach me in Alberta.

How many business days should there be between the "we have your order and we're processing it" note...and them actually shipping the new NR rifle you bought from a business in Canada?

It depends on the time of year, but five business days is my limit. Many of these stores are small businesses, so they might only have a one-person shipping department.

During Boxing Day, I think FOC took seven to ten days to get my order ready for pickup. Granted, it was the holidays and they had a sale, but I still felt it took too long. I did not pick up my order until January.

In terms of speed, TSC and Wolverine are quite fast. TSC is consistently 5 business days door-to-door to the GTA. Liangjiang Outdoors provided a tracking number within hours of payment! FOC is quite fast when they are not busy; I received my order last week in 2 business days door-to-door. G4C has recently slowed down to more than 2 business days for pickup, while Tenda takes about 2 business days for pick up. SBI took several days to ship, and Siwash shipped over the weekend. DLASK was about 2 business business days to ship, but they keep forgetting items!

What's the company? Did you buy off one of the scam sites?

3

u/dgod40 May 07 '26

You mean the ones still selling the tavor for $1599.99? 🤣

u/Bubbafett33 May 07 '26

Legit company - a "sponsoring retailer" on CGN.

2

u/sonichanxiao May 07 '26

Generally after transfer completed, I would expect 3 days, no more than 5.

2

u/dgod40 May 07 '26

The time you've been waiting +1. Lol. Call them and politely ask them.

2

u/thxxx1337 May 07 '26

I ordered from sfrc twice in the last 6 months. My first order took 4 and 6 weeks (shipped in 2 packags) my last order took 3 days

2

u/TacticalCapybara May 07 '26

Bro wasn’t there during handgun approval wait times. I waited about 11 months before mine shipped 😂

0

u/Bubbafett33 May 07 '26

I was specifically talking about the gap between an "order received" acknowledgement for an in-stock NR rifle, and "shipped" (not received, just a tracking number).

I mention "NR rifle" specifically because anything to do with handguns has been a train wreck in Canada for almost a decade.

1

u/TacticalCapybara May 07 '26

I know I’m just laughing about how miserable the handgun experience was.

As others have said it varies greatly by vendor, but it’s not uncommon in my experience for it to take 1-2 weeks for NR stuff even. Some shops do all their online stuff in a big batch once a week so if you miss the cutoff it could easily take a week. As long as it’s a reputable store it’ll ship… eventually.

3

u/BigCyanDinosaur May 07 '26

Crying because it took 5 days for a firearms order to ship is maximum instant gratification brain rot Amazon cumsoomer status.

3

u/Bubbafett33 May 07 '26

Thank you for your feedback.

1

u/groggygirl May 07 '26

Bass Pro took 2 months to ship my 10/22 to a Bass Pro store for pickup...where that exact one was already in stock.

I generally give small businesses a week before I send a query because it's normally one or two people doing 15 different jobs.

1

u/PomegranateAncient25 May 07 '26

If it’s Tenda did you make sure to get the shipping details to the actual shipping department, including photos of your PAL. Apparently as stupid as that sounds it’s an actual thing with Tenda.

1

u/Lagtense May 08 '26

I have waited years, no kidding

1

u/Remarkable_Heart_391 May 08 '26

What a crazy world where people lose their minds waiting a week for an order to ship. It wasn't long ago it would take a week for our order form to be delivered to the business by Canada post

1

u/Hotdog_Broth May 08 '26

Tenda moment

1

u/Deep-Lingonberry1900 May 08 '26

NOTHING is as bad as the service as I got from Canada Safety Source!

1

u/niagaragagarafalls May 10 '26

I had this not too long ago from Tactical Imports.  They get slammed and it takes time to get the orders out.  They aren't Amazon. Then Canada Post gets it and they are notorious for taking their time, giving zero updates and marking the shipment as delayed.  It eventually arrives. Just sit back and wait.

u/Bubbafett33 May 10 '26

I ordered four pieces of the build the same day from four different Canadian gun stores, and they all arrived from across the country before this order even shipped.

Any retailer that takes 5+ days to ship an in-stock item may as well delete their online storefront in 2026.
