Just messing around with some mag extensions to speed up reloads. The small mag extension is ok but still a bit annoying to reload quickly. The coupler works well but I'm not the biggest fan of the flip reload. I designed "big black" so I can get a good grip around the shaft for easier back and forth in the mag well. This is just an initial prototype for sizing and attaching to mag.

I had to get the first gun I received replaced under warranty, it would not cycle. This one did work, mostly. It has some compromises in order to give it the M3 look and functionality. At the now cheaper price, it at least has a place as a range toy.

A bit more info on the glock lever action. Price is a bit high, but if this ends up being properly modular and allows multiple calibers, it could be sweet! Excited for it to exist as an option, at very least. Looks like releasing before the end of 2026, and Interestingly is being tested at some Canadian gun range? Wish they would let us know which one so we could try it out!

Though James from TFB looks to have no interest in this gun, and almost feels like he can't wait to carry on the the next booth. Just an observation.

Looking for an honest review / feedback. Can’t trust Canadian caliber or go tendas video review. Need a cheap plinker to scratch that tacticool itch or am I just better off with Ruger 1022 with a aftermarket stock.

So we recieved a pair of these a little while back, one in 3030 and one in 45-70 and when they were anounced at Shot this year I was super interested in the 30-30 but a little skeptical of a carbon barrelled 45-70 for recoil related reasons. But i was pleasantly surprised at how well weighted the rifle was. Not only was the action as smooth as you'd expect from a Henry, but it was also incredibly well balanced and had a nice bit of weight to it too. I dont think they'll unseat the Marlin Dark Series as king of the out of the box tacticool lever, but the carbon wrapped barrel and tactical foregrip certainly pair nicer than I thought they would.

Are there any cut rifling barrel manufacturers in Canada? If so, who? Anyone used their products?

Was at the range with it today, not 1 single bad thing to say about it. First 20 shots were sighting it in. Put about 250-300 rounds of 223 through it. And a new friend put 60-100 rounds of 556. Not 1 FTF or FTE. There was 2 light strikes and 2-3 times with a full mag the bolt didn’t close all the way. Obviously not running the crypto mags so from what I heard about the mags making this a bad firearm I agree. Swap those out and you’re good to go. Only time will tell how it holds up. Also not me in the photo.

I used FTF as in Failure to Feed. Sorry it I wasn’t 100% correct in that. Iv only been a hobbiest for about 2 years now.

There was 2 light strikes in the first 40 rounds. Could have been an ammo issue as it was cheap, could have been the firearm. I’m just a guy giving insight to a firearm that’s very controversial. No I’m not an expert I’m just a guy who wants to enjoy range days.

Just wanted to throw out a quick review on the metal handguard and grip adapter that Neumann Metalworks just put out. Super reasonably priced, came to I think $170 all in with express shipping included. I am putting a picatinny stock on it but just figured I'd snap some photos of it now, as the stock itself arrives in another day or two.

Super solid feel, easy install, and very cheap for what you get. The handguard and grip were combined, half the price of the Midwest Industries handguard alone, which has also been discontinued I believe.

Did not receive any sort of incentive from NM to write this, just doing so because he was great to interact with, has install tutorials too on his site to make it super easy, and was a great price for all aluminum furniture for it. Super nice to have a modern ergonomic PCC setup again.

Photo doesn't have the picatinny stock installed yet as Im still waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Mag in the photo is of course empty, just stuck it in the rifle to complete the look for the photo to show off the furniture.

Very solid kit, good fitment, I love it. It is just a bit over 27" OAL even without the picatinny stock installed, so i believe it is technically legal to use even with just the pistol grip as it is over 26" OAL, someone correct me though if I am remembering wrong or misinterpreting something (I dont intend to use it anyway until I have the remainder of the stock installed).

The other day I picked up a Zastava LK M85 Mini Mauser in 7.62x39. If you saw my previous post about my first thoughts, you'd know I had some apprehensions about the quality of this rifle. Today I put it to the test. Here are the results...

Saturday! We started the day with absolutely zero rain and minimal wind, so I decided that this morning would be a good day to go shooting. I packed up my rifle, a whole pile of ammo, targets, and headed over to my favorite gravel pit.

The ammo I tested the gun with was a mixed bag of S&B and MFS 124 grain FMJ, 120 rounds in total. My choice of optic was a brand new SIG Sauer Buckmasters 3-12x44mm scope paired with Vortex Hunter 1" low mount rings. To make the scope work to its full potential for this field test I had to remove the lever located on the magnification dial; on 12x setting the lever would block the bolt's ability to be fully manipulated. Shortly after my first post about this rifle I decided to lubricate the action as well and work it over hundreds of times to break it in, and it seemed to be much less rough than what it was.

Now for the shooting report...

As with any scope I've sighted in, I started at 25 yards and worked my way back to 150 yards until I found an acceptable level of accuracy. From there, I started burning through rounds.

8"x8" plates, paper targets, bouncing targets, I brought everything out for this test. I found at 150 yards I was getting consistent 1 1/2" to 2" groups on paper with both MFS and S&B ammo, which was much tighter groups than I initially expected. From there, I moved to the steel plates and bouncing targets and could hit them consistently. A few times during shooting I would try to get through as many rounds as possible within a minute or so timeframe, a few times I would take my time with steady shots. No matter how I shot I still managed tight, consistent groups. The barrel did get hot, but not hot enough to burn your hand on I found. No test can be done without attempting to make the barrel hot at least once to see how accuracy holds!

One thing that I'm glad I did before going out is breaking in the action. The morning was made much easier thanks to sitting down for an hour and working the bolt repeatedly! But there is still one problem with the bolt, and that is in its size. The bolt handle itself is quite small, but once you're used to the rifle, it's more so of a quirk you just have to learn to work with rather than a hindrance to operation of the rifle. Speaking of which, with the Magwedge rail and low mount rings, the Buckmasters scope has just enough height to be low enough to the bore, and high enough to allow bolt manipulation. After firing, the bolt does still feel a little stiff though- that isn't attributed to the machining, that would be attributed to the bolt's cock on open design. Nothing that you can't learn to work with. Ejection was all over the place, but I could attribute that to how I was working the bolt at times; some empty shells would barely leave the chamber, others would launch a good 4 feet from the rifle.

As for the trigger, I found it acceptable. Allegedly, the trigger is adjustable to about 3 lbs or so but I left it as is for the test. The trigger does have minimal creep and a crisp break, but I probably could adjust it to have a lighter pull. At one point allegedly Timney made aftermarket triggers that do fit the Mini Mauser, so it might be something I'll have to look into.

Finally, the magazine. Like many old school rifles the magazine is an internal, hinged floor plate design. The 7.62x39 model of the Mini Mauser holds 4 rounds, despite being advertised as having a 5 round capacity. I had no issues with loading the magazine and no issues with feeding. A plus side to this magazine design is there's absolutely no detachable magazine to potentially lose or misplace!

Final thoughts...

Overall, despite my first impressions with Zastava's Mini Mauser I do have to give it a passing grade. As a previous owner of a few different flavours of SKS I was a little apprehensive about an intermediate caliber bolt gun- being so used to the idea of just magdumping at a target I never really considered a bolt gun in the same caliber- to me, bolt guns always seemed right in rimfire or full size/magnum options. Not anymore! I can safely say this is a rifle that'll be a regular shooter for me.

Finally got around to making V2. I made it smaller, long boi is gone 😢. I angled it a bit and it feels a bit better. I also rounded the front more than the back. Base has a faux plate. I modelled it after a mag of a gun I don't talk about.

I'm thinking about v3 maybe having a window with spent casings viewable like that other guy who does the AR mag covers.

A bunch of people also mentioned the tri connector, so I tried it out and am surprised how good it feels.

I'm working on some of the other nonsense people had mentioned. Just takes time as a beginner 3d guy.

The OEM Tikka rubber bolt knob is like $30-$50, so I made my own, the model said it was for a T3X bolt handle but it fits the T1X fine too. Only thing was had to get a longer screw for the handle but feels amazing now. The rubber has a firm consistency like a car tire and a great feel in hand, cycling the bolt is so much easier and it looks great now.

Ran it today another 200 rounds out of 400 total. So far it's been flawless. I tried to post a long-form video but this is not the place for that I guess. I'll try and post a couple of shorter ones.

Accurate at distance. The mag release is a little bit of a pain but once you get used to it you're going to be pretty quick.

The full disclosure I help run a three gun match in Ontario called Canadian Multigun Series - CMS. I'm just hoping I can find a rifle too make it through the season.

Derya TM22 pro 12", man this thing is fun. I ran 1500 rounds through it last weekend, 500 Federal Champion, 500 Aguila Super Extra, and 500 s&b canadian match. Ran great, only issues were the odd f2f, but upon loading the struck round back in it would fire. It was dirty after 1500 rounds but functioning just fine. Shot it out to 180 m with hits on the ipsc plate using a PA 3x prism which was a great combo for this lightweight shorty.

Honestly so impressed it doesn't even feel like a cope. Im surprised these 12" models have not received more publicity, I dont even think there are reviews on youtube.

I've been watching many reviews, mostly of bullpups, but a lot seem to complain about cylinder gap blasting debris into the forearm and face... For reasons I can't explain I still want one, is there a good one on the market?

Just got this TM22 and I wanted to change the butt stock, but then I noticed that I could just remove the cheek rest on the stock butt stock and I think it looks so much better, what do y’all think?

Got a brand new in box Pedersoli 1874 sharps in the mail today from Basspro and well yikes…. What should I do? It’s obviously been very well used. Is this a return angle?

A friend of mine has a couple Crusader Arms Backland Hunter elites so I borrowed one to do some precision testing. I was quite curious to see how it would do seeing as I’ve done the same kinda testing on pretty much every model they’ve released (WS-MCR, Sentinel, Crypto) and was rather impressed by how tight the MCR shot (10rnds of 75gr handloads into 1.5 moa) despite how crude it was. The Sentinel was a bit of a dog with a wandering zero and the Crypto was a hammer (only the receiver was stock and it had a legit match barrel on it).

As far as I’m concerned, any .223/5.56 semi that will keep 10rnds of match ammo sub 2moa is a legit 600yd gun when equipped with a suitable optic (1-8/10, 2-10, etc).

So I mounted a Vortex Razor Gen 2 4.5-27, an MDT Send it and Grndpod and got to it.

I shot a 10rnd group of American Eagle 55gr 5.56, my 55gr Campro plinking load (26.5 BLC-2) and my go to match load (Hornady 75gr BTHP over 23.9gr N150) that shot 1/2moa in my bolt gun, 1 moa in a Crypto and used to shoot 1.5 moa in a Colt 6920.

The 55gr performance was terrible, the AE was approx 4.5 moa and my handloads were approx 6 moa. I dunno that I’ve ever shot a semi that grouped that loose, haha. So despite having zero expectations at this point the 75gr load was outstanding. 10rnds into 1.05 moa. I’m not sure how a rifle can fare so poorly with 55gr ammo and hammer with 75s but it is what it is 🤷🏼‍♂️. I then shot the 75gr ammo at some of my practice targets at 400, 420, 465 and 625 yds and made 1st round hits till the last target (wind was blowing pretty good, needed 2.0 mils of wind to hit)

As an aside I had zero malfs over about 65 rounds which is obviously a tiny sample size but it’s something. The trigger is pretty bad but I guess not much worse than a GI trigger. Unless I’m missing something the safety is kind of a pita. Easy to push off when shouldering the rifle but awkward to re-engage when lowering the rifle. I also can’t reach the mag release without breaking my grip. If you look at the primers on all the ammo you’ll note that they are visibly cratered despite being mild loads (the handloads, that is). I recall the same issue with a WS-MCR that was solved by getting the firing pin hole bushed. Food for thought, I guess.

A sexy beast if you ask me. Modular straight-pull bolty from beretta. Marketed to be short, compact, and allow quick follow-ups for drive hunts. Seems to be marketed towards Europeans but they’re making their way over here. Oh yeah, and they take AR-10 magazine.
