Gun and gear reviews Gear questions..

fast helmet, picked this up at a pawnshop today.

They had 3x oneL/XL two med/Lrg.

They were all 329 and 25% off.

259 out the door.

Its tatou brand, quick google search shows its a Recon SF model.

Are these any good, seems to be of decent entry level quality..

Supposedly level IIIa

Tatou is legit, the ballistic rating is real. Decent mid tier bucket for a good price

Those look cool and I get the use but why do people buy them like the only time they would really use them is to larp

I'm not hating I'm just trying to understand they look cool though

Is larp not a good reason to do anything anymore?

Larping is still good enough I just wanted to know if there were any practical uses for it in a every day scenario

I have a ballistic helmet (Fortis Premier) but the only real reason I went ballistic is because a plastic/carbon bump helmet that would fit my huge head was only $50 cheaper. Figured why not.

It's my night vision carrier for when I don't feel like using a skullcrusher. I used it stargazing a week ago lol

I know lot of airsoft types like these style helmets (usually just bumps) because they're designed to be good carriers for night vision, comms, and earpro, as well as decent action camera hosts etc.

My helmet is set up so I can wear my earpro (and by extension comms) under it, if I ever want to use it shooting, as well. Haven't done so yet, only time I ever got to night shoot was when I had my skullcrusher with me instead.

Fair enough sounds like you enjoy using your night vision

This comment comes up every time there is a gear topic. In light of everything going on in the world do you think it’s unreasonable to have some sort of ballistic protection? You buy the guns, why not buy kit and medical too.

Fair enough gear and a kit is not really my thing but you made some good points as to why its good to have

Tell me you don’t have nods without telling me you don’t have nods

1

u/Relevant_Diver_3228 Jun 23 '26

No I do not have nods yet maybe some day

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I guess I use that excuse to buy more guns so 🤷
