Gun and gear reviews Backland Hunter Update

Post image

Was at the range with it today, not 1 single bad thing to say about it. First 20 shots were sighting it in. Put about 250-300 rounds of 223 through it. And a new friend put 60-100 rounds of 556. Not 1 FTF or FTE. There was 2 light strikes and 2-3 times with a full mag the bolt didn’t close all the way. Obviously not running the crypto mags so from what I heard about the mags making this a bad firearm I agree. Swap those out and you’re good to go. Only time will tell how it holds up. Also not me in the photo.

I used FTF as in Failure to Feed. Sorry it I wasn’t 100% correct in that. Iv only been a hobbiest for about 2 years now.

There was 2 light strikes in the first 40 rounds. Could have been an ammo issue as it was cheap, could have been the firearm. I’m just a guy giving insight to a firearm that’s very controversial. No I’m not an expert I’m just a guy who wants to enjoy range days.

Light strikes are a FTF. Do you have any insight on why that issue happened?

I was using it as a failure to feed. Sorry not failure to fire, it could have been the rounds themselves. There were cheaper rounds on the shelf.

Did very well today. With the TNA trigger group pin it really holds everything together keeping it more rigid than the stock pin. Other than that, no complaints.

My man you contradict yourself in the first paragraph. Did it run flawlessly or did it have failure to fire? Haha

Social (media) credit goes down now!

I was using it as a failure to feed. Lots of people said they were using jamming issues with the firearm.

Not running the crypto mags.

Thanks for sharing! Does the barrel run really hot after a few rounds like those other two semi Turks on the market?

Its a thin profile barrel.... i imagine rapid fire would heat the barrel.

I did probably 60 shots back to back it definitely got hot.

Now that it’s warm out it’s time to get back out there. I’m also joining Peterborough as well.

Well it's nice to hear the Backshot Hunters aren't the worst out there... yet!

Still not buying one though!

Nice to hear its doing well. I've got the Alcor and it's been running really well. The last two times before today it didn't have a single failure. Today it had one failure to feed, but I can't complain with having that in 250 odd rounds. I do get tired of all the negativity around these guns. Sure, they're not ar15s that run slick and perfect. But we can't get those anymore and comparing these to them isn't fair at this point. People need to stop whining and move on. I'd love for us to be able to get ar15s but until something changes this is what we have, and we may never get them back unfortunately.

I can't wait to see how things go with your backland! I hope it gets an frt!

I mean im glad you enjoy it but every time I see one of these frankengun monstrosities im glad I spent my cope bucks at MRA.

Is the FRT cleared yet ?

3

u/IceWide6245 Mar 30 '26

Did you submit one? Cause its been gone over many times, Crusader said they will NOT be submitting an frt as they have no need to export it anywhere...

Okay Makes sense really wanted to get the backland just been scared from it getting ban but yeah even with an Frt it’ll get ban I had the Crypto previously which did get ban because of the frt

I think that's the issue with the stock because of weird angle on it they'll never get a good weld without a cheek riser.

It's very much a Canadian review when we see 300ish rounds and there's 2 light strikes and someone goes "works good!".

Id only trust a 1000+ burn down review and given we saw the bcg in that thing on another video, im not hopeful given the manufacturer we're talking about.

Compared to my other Turkish guns this thing runs mint. My ad500 has constant feeding issues. It doesn’t even leave the safe anymore. The 2 light strikes were within the first 40 rounds so assuming it just needed some break in. I’m not a die hard gun review critic, I’m just a guy with a hobby. If you don’t like the post than move on. I was with someone who else today who was shooting with me. Sorry for not counting every individual round.

I would hope so for a 2000 dollar rifle, that's pushing into premium tier cost. At that price point it's why I have high expectations for it. The ad500 is a 1000 dollar Turkish rifle held together with dreams and red loctite so that's not saying much.

Yeah and we're just people on the Internet wanting to know more. There's going to obviously be heavy skepticism given the cost of the rifle and history of it's makers.

Sorry for not counting every individual round.

People are giving you a hard time because your post contradicts itself, 100 rounds better not be the make or break. It's the "it runs great" followed by "it has light strikes".

I'm not trying to attack you here, I'm just approaching with a healthy criticism of a cope rifle (and trust me, I want us to have a functional, affordable semi like the days of old. Atrs and Daniel defense are also long gone for us sadly)

I think some of it is the sunk cost fallacy. They gotta support it because they want a Canadian rifle or they've put too much money into it.

I'm always wary of short reviews.
