Gun and gear reviews Is there a good .410 revolver shotgun?
I've been watching many reviews, mostly of bullpups, but a lot seem to complain about cylinder gap blasting debris into the forearm and face... For reasons I can't explain I still want one, is there a good one on the market?

Been happy with RS-410... I even shot 45 with it, if you do, dont forget to take out the choke.

rs-410 is not meant to shoot 45 though, be safe.

My SR-410 got me a few birds. It's great for small game in small trails. I removed the blast shields so I don't get powder in the face. It's super loud though compared to a break action 410

Whatever you do, don't get THAT one
But IMO, get one that is at least 50+ years old to ensure it's good quality

Yeah, I'm looking to sell of some of my worse guns and buy something interesting/fun to plink with. Definitely not something to rely on to hunt or defend.

Look let me tell you. I have one. It's ridiculous. It's not that practical. The ammo is expensive
It's seriously one of my most fun guns. I love it so much.
I have the original sulan sr410. Complete with wrong sized cylinders that 410 shells get stuck in. Now I have a new cylinder from warranty so hopefully that problems fixed.
But let me tell you how to enjoy your, if you get one.
If it's got blast shields, your arms will be OK. Sometimes I feel a bit of heat but it doesn't hurt or affect me.
If yours has blast shields, consider taking the one on the right off. Seems counterintuitive, but with the right shield off, the gas seems to blow out that way, and away from your hands and face. Seriously, make sure you get one with blast shields.
Get one with a full sized stock so the gun is further away from your face. Seriously, revolvers get held out far away from you, so get a nice long full stock. I got a short little mini stock and it kinda aucked. Added a leather stock extension and now it's better.
Last piece of advice! If you can get one with a Rail and those Flip up sights, or you can mount a red dot on it, do it! The problem with using a bead sight, or low iron sights, is that you put your face close to the gun, and thus get more gas in the face. Those flip up AR 15 sites are going to have you not as close, and a red dot is even better as you can really keep it a bit further from your face. I just put a cheap red dot on mine and wow it's so much better being a bit further back.
So that's all my tips! Honestly, this is such a fun gun. From shooting slugs at targets to blasting clays with birdshot, it's an absolute hoot at the range.
As far as practical use???
I've had redditers suggest that this could in fact be a terribly fun little Grouse gun. It could also be a great little side arm for if bow hunting, or for hiking.
410 perhaps isn't the most powerful round out there. And there are better options for sure, but it is better than nothing. A 410 slug is getting close to 357 power, and a buckshot round gives you options for up close protection. Is it a good bear gun? Likely not, but it goes bang and it's better than a stick. For an alternative to a Mares leg for out in the bush, it works great

All sounds reasonable, thanks. Not really looking for a bear defense or serious hunting gun, they just looked like they might be a fun oddity to have around at the cottage, etc.

Then it seriously fits your bill. It's fun, it's an oddity. The compactness is a bonus, and if you are a fan of Star Wars, it's the damn closest thing to an EE3 Blaster used by Boba fett

If you were to pick one, I'd suggest if possible at least getting one with a steel receiver, I'd consider those the "best" for longetivity (relatively speaking, few Turkish shotguns are known to be excellent in this area) . When it comes to cylinder gap blast, there isn't a model that completely solves it no, most have guards, on the Lazer Arms I had for a short while I actually found the guard directed the blast into my face, taking the guards off let it at least blow out the sides, wasn't nearly as bad on the arms as I thought it would be.
It was fun, but yeah, wouldn't expect it to be the crown jewel of a collection. If you're not particulat about it being a .410 shotgun and with a bit different handling characteristics, Heritage's Rough Rider Rancher carbine is pretty fun, mine functioned pretty well and was quite accurate too.

Given the mostly negative opinions here, I'll probably just sell a few and get a 590A1 instead. Sounds like the revolver shotgun concept is uncomfortable.

I bought one, but I haven't taken it out yet. My plan is to try a chamfer cutter on it to see if that improves it or not.

Not exactly what you're asking about, but I recently took a new to me Federation arms .410 lever action out to the range to sight it in and am surprisingly happy with it. Only failed to fire once and it was 100% my fault as I didn't have the lever action fully closed. New? Only the Turkish ones that I can think of. You can ignore the haters. With turkish shotguns, you get what you pay for. If its just for fun (ie not trusting your life to it), then by all means go for it my fellow mammalian.

If you’re trusting your life to a .410 I believe your life has taken you by a path where a Revolver shotgun failing is the least of your worries

No one in this sub is going to come out swinging in defence of the turkish clone revolver shotgun. What do you want it for, maybe is the question? If purely for a range toy , and to own a “revolver” then yes absolutely, they’re all worth your time. If for any practical purpose of any kind whatsoever ? Then likely no
