Hey r/canadaguns,
Like many of you, I relied on ArsenalForce to find prices, firearms, and ammunition across Canadian retailers. When it went down, I felt that gap hard… manually checking a dozen stores to find the best deal on ammo or track down a specific rifle is nobody's idea of a good time.
I'm a firearms enthusiast and an engineer, so I decided to build and improve what I wished still existed. After too many sleepless nights, MapleGun.ca is live.
What it does:
MapleGun lets you search every firearm, ammo box, and piece of gear for sale in Canada instantaneously. No more opening 50 tabs to find the best prices. Filter by what actually matters: in stock, price, caliber, deals...
What's coming next:
Price history so you can see if that "sale" is actually a deal ;)
Watchlists with alerts when something you want drops in price
If you want to add any new retail, reach out!
I built this for myself first, but I want it to work for the community. If something feels off, a feature is missing, or you have ideas to make it more useful, I genuinely want to hear them.
Keeping it alive:
ArsenalForce going down was a reminder that projects like this cost real money to keep running. I don't want MapleGun to disappear the same way. I've set up a Patreon so folks who find it useful can chip in a few bucks a month to help cover hosting and keep the site free for everyone.
Give it a try at maplegun.ca and let me know what you think. Feedback, suggestions, bug reports - all welcome!

My First Gun, FN 502 Tactical. Never shot a firearm in my life, but this is my first gun for training purposes, just imported from the USA (Arizona) via IRG. The extended magazines are pinned to 10. It came very oily so had to wipe it thoroughly with paper towels. The enclosed reflex micro red dot (probably used the wrong screws) and tactical light are add-ons from Amazon. I got my RPAL just for this.

Today marks my 3rd anniversary of becoming a gun owner, so I wanted to share the collection I have built so far. I applied for my RPAL the moment I turned 18, but I never had the chance to own AR15s after the 2020 ban or pistols after the 2022 freeze. Since then, I have tried to get the guns I wanted while financially supporting myself through university by working summers and weekends. I know some people will have opinions on the choices I made when I was younger, but these were deliberate decisions and I do not regret them.
I am posting this from a feeder account and have taken the privacy precautions I am comfortable with, so no need to worry about that.
A lot of these rifles represent a version of Canadian gun ownership that newer shooters may never get to experience. Many of them are now caught by the ban and only remain in private hands because of the amnesty. Looking at this collection honestly makes me think about how much has already been taken away from ordinary, licensed, law abiding civilians.
I also noticed that after the bans, most people stopped posting their prohibs, which honestly sucks. I get why, but I think that silence has done a lot to kill morale. I am leaving this post up because I want it to do the opposite. I want it to remind people that this part of Canadian gun culture did exist, and that there are still people here who care enough to stand behind it.
This post is not just about showing off steel and wood. It is also a reminder. If we want to preserve this hobby, we need to stay politically engaged. Vote. Write to your MP. Talk to people outside the gun community. Bring new shooters into the sport and show them what responsible firearms ownership actually looks like in Canada.
The more normal, visible, and welcoming this community is, the harder it becomes to erase us. A healthy firearms culture does not survive by accident. It survives when people care enough to defend it.
Anyway, thanks for looking. I am proud of how far the collection has come in just 3 years, even if it is bittersweet knowing that a lot of this is now part of a shrinking window of what Canadian civilians were once allowed to own.

Super excited that my first exempted pistol has finally arrived after ordering it beginning of June.
Shoutout to BCTSA, IRUNGUNS, and funny enough, the Federal Firearms office in Miramichi NB, for helping make the process as seamless as can be (in our current firearms climate).
Feel free to ask any questions on the process and I’ll do my best to reply/DM. :)
Edit: everyone that’s requested a DM, I will absolutely get to all of you later tonight or tomorrow! :)

I recently went through the exemption process and finally was able to pick up my handguns yesterday.
Brought them home and cleaned them up. I still need to break down the High Standard and do a deep clean, I lent my tools to my father and needed a rubber mallet.
I know it isn't much for us, but if a large number of new shooters get their exemptions and pistols I wonder if we can lobby for center fire to be used in more sports shooting events and get exempted that way... Instead of just being grandfathered in.
Smith & Wesson 617 - 6 inch barrel
High Standard Supermatic - Citation
Ruger MK II - Target
The first two pictures are the before and after it was cleaned.
I'm left handed so I'll be ordering a custom grip for the High Standard. Wondering if my aunt can just bring it over from the states since it's just all wood?

Still waiting on a FDE stock and a vortex defender to replace the shitty red dot
Happy I pulled the trigger on this, guns extremely compact as it should have been when it first came out.
I’ve owned 3 so far and this one is by far my favourite

Thanks for all the help everyone, after several question posts, I got it.
I was on the hunt for cleaner examples, but certain Gunpost members were really hosing people. Did I still buy it for inflated prices? Yes. Are there better condition ones out there? Yes. But at least I got to check it out in person. And I now own an SKS.
All matching 1963 Chinese. I'll get a tickler soon if the prices don't go even more insane, but I've wanted an SKS since I shot one at a friend's house 15 years ago, and as massive as my list of wants is, I just couldn't move on until I had one.
Also, Cosmoline is no joke. I looked at it wrong and now my next 3 generations of offspring are covered in it. I'll take cleaning tips as it's far worse than expected.

Happy Canada Day with a Colt Canada Flat-Top, Heavy-Barrel Carbine. Identical (less full-auto) to the service carbine that I carried overseas in 2008....

New (to me) is this OIC 12(5) HK-93 5.56mm/.223 cal Sporting/Utility Rifle, purchased through Switzer's April 2026 Auction. It accepts proprietary 25, 30 and 40-round 5.56mm magazines, the latter being aluminum manufacture for light weight. Note the original South African ARMSON-brand Occluded-Eye Gunsight (OEG) in the 2nd photo, which was effectively the world's first mass-produced "red dot" sight in which one eye sees the dot on a black background and the other eye sees the target and surrounding terrain, over which the red dot appears. It takes some practice, but works quite well with some basic familiarity.

Software engineer here with ~15 years experience. I've always wanted an offline/local only version of an app to track my disgusting habit and decided to go ahead and work with AI to create something on the weekend.
Is this something people would use if I published it?
My whole shtick is free, so I'd never charge for something like this since it's running all on your own machine.
