“X amount of time with PAL” is our equivalent of “just bought a house at 24!”

Then theres me, who unironically bought a house at 24 AND has an ass load of guns
(It was a massive mistake and had to have my brother move in to pay me rent to even make it remotely affordable to do and even now between the bills, mortgage, and cost of groceries I struggle, it may have been a massive mistake with the only money I'll ever really have. However, plus side, I have a designated gun room)

I’ll raise you bought a house at 20 and has an ass load of guns
(I can’t afford to pay the power bill and live off roadkill, eggs and potatoes. No room for a gun room so I get a wall rack. On the plus side, lots of room for chickens for more eggs)

Look at Warren Buffet here lording his free roadkill over us proles!

u/Muted-Garden6723 Mar 15 '26
Found a bobcat the other night and had the cops pull up on me because they thought I was broken down, the look of shock on the cops face when she saw me gutting a cat on the truck bed was priceless.

Fair enough chief, I love how affordable canada can be for the hard working man!
(I make too much to qualify for any government benifits for affordability since I'm a single male in my mid 20's. If I hadn't filled my freezer with the maximum allowable limit of upland game and migratory bird as well as an ass load of venison I'd be pert near bankrupt, I'm just grateful that Ab only has a 5% GST and no form of PST/HST)

u/Muted-Garden6723 Mar 15 '26
I’m in NS, so we have the highest taxes in the country AND some of the highest grocery prices
I’d be absolutely fucked if I didn’t raise chickens and pigs for meat and hunt
2
u/GodsGiftToWrenching Mar 15 '26
That is actually brutal brother, my condolences
Solid on ya for raising chickens and pigs though, I'm in a small city which specifically banned chickens within city limits

I need a parody rap music video featuring all legal firearms like Canadian Tire money, 22LRs, and cope ARs

I know it's stupid, but I want to buy one more. Just in case they do get banned. There's no way they'll try to confiscate all of them. They might grandfather them. Idk.. I know $1000 should buy me a 4 pack, but this is where the OICs have brought us..

u/yourunclegord Mar 15 '26
Is the alternative you should have bought this when it was cheap like commentor did?

u/Longjumping_Rain_483 Mar 15 '26
Can't wait to save enough for an SKS, I hope you don't buy them all in the meantime 😂
2
u/Glockinmytacklebox Mar 15 '26
Can’t promise anything, yea it’s sad seeing how much they are now, all thanks to shitty laws
1
u/scottsuplol Mar 15 '26
Hopefully you get it soon. I was shocked saw one at the gun show today they wanted 800 for a mismatched Chinese one in fair condition

u/IntrepidKitchen5322 Mar 15 '26
I'm still angry we can't get BX-25s anymore and if they are kicking around they're pinned to 10.
1
u/gspotcowboy Mar 15 '26
They're still available and legal to buy, I get mine from irunguns' Canadian store. Bonus is they pin them the right way, on the seam of the mag. Makes for easier uh cleaning 😇
1
u/IntrepidKitchen5322 Mar 16 '26
It just seems like a lot of extra bulk for 10rds. I don't buy 30rd centerfire magazines that are pinned for the same reason.

I swear y'all pushing me to get a SKS..😉
What are the street prices going for nowadays up north?
3
u/Glockinmytacklebox Mar 15 '26
Prices are insane now. Hovering around 1000$. I was lucky to get these a while back under $500

When will they get cheaper ? I'd like to get one but not at those prices.
Doesn't seem people really have a choice if they want one have to pay the price ..
1
u/SirKickBan Mar 15 '26
Minimum five years, but realistically? Prices don't go down. This is probably the cheapest they'll ever be again, up here.
2
u/GlizzyGuru Mar 15 '26
Yeah thats my point no other choice really if you want one need to pay the price.
2
u/Ronin_Black_NJ Mar 15 '26
Like I said before; I remember when these things were like 300-500$ USD and you'd get a BUNCH of goodies like muzzle devices or bayonet..with it, including stripper clips.
This was the trend of ditch the wood stock and slap on a TapCo "Black Scary Assault Stock" days, so I'm seriously reminiscent here..
3
u/Glockinmytacklebox Mar 15 '26
I still have my tapco stock!! Sealed up and haven’t opened it even yet lol

If you went to bass pro, why is there canadian tire money on the bed?
They dont accept or issue canadian tire money and Canadian Tire doesnt give out paper money anymore...

I keep my mags loaded, so yes it would be.
2
u/Red_Shrinp556 Mar 15 '26
You’re not allowed to insert a loaded magazine into a gun in your own home?
3
u/looloopklopm Mar 15 '26
Correct because that makes it a loaded firearm. Pal covers this stuff.
1
u/Red_Shrinp556 Mar 15 '26
Huh, strange
1
u/looloopklopm Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26
Could be cuz I'm in the city and thats just what I do. Rural you might be able to justify it as being "in use" for predator protection or something.
I have literally no way to "use" my guns unless I'm at the range, so I don't risk an improper storage charge by loading guns at home
1
u/Red_Shrinp556 Mar 15 '26
I’m a yank so I wouldn’t really know lol. A couple states require them to be locked away when not under your control but I don’t know of any that forbid you from even putting a loaded magazine into a gun. Canadian gun laws are interesting to learn about.
2
u/looloopklopm Mar 15 '26
Canadian gun laws are a shit show lol. Check out Ian Runkle on YouTube if you're at all interested in this stuff. Very articulate attorney who talks through legal cases. It's fascinating.
There are some nuances here for something like this like whether or not you took a marked departure from something a regular person would do, was the gun in "use", was it being handled carelessly, etc. Biggest thing is use here though. Firearms have to be stored unloaded and locked when not in use. "use" is the part that makes lawyers the big bucks.
1
u/gspotcowboy Mar 15 '26
I'm paraphrasing but the firearm act and/or criminal code makes it illegal to have a loaded firearm (considered as rounds in an attached mag and/or chamber) anywhere that you can't legally discharge it. So, anywhere outside of a range/crown land or hunting area.
So even for a photo op, a clear loaded mag inserted into a rifle (even with a chamber flag) is a criminal charge. Good luck arguing the loaded rifle on your mattress is at an approved range lol
Growing up in a rural area it was not uncommon to have a loaded but not chambered varmint gun at the back door for predator dispatching purposes. It was a different time 🤷♂️

Wooden?
Live mags don't go in my guns unless I'm at the range. I take out the rounds for all photo opps and test fitting
