Wish I took more pictures of the process, but basically I cut off the folding stock apparatus, drilled a hole in the very back portion of the stock and ran a threaded rod through which was epoxied in place, to which I affixed the core of the wooden buttstock (further epoxied in place). 1 piece of laminate on each side of the hardwood stock core glued in place then shaped, metal buttstock plate cut out of some 16 gauge mild steel which was cold blued then screwed onto the buttstock, and rubber recoil pad epoxied in place and cut to size. Voids left from chopping off the folding stock were filled with jb weld steelstick. Handguard was put in place by sanding down the foregrip area on the ati stock, then a couple layers of veneer were expoxied over that area to give the actual handguard something to stick to which was then adhered with expoxy (the bottom bit) and wood glue (the sides, once again using a hardwood core on the bottom and laminate on the sides). Then stain and topcoat yadda yadda
It was worse before, I had originally made it with a Draco style handguard but that shit was heavy asf so I hogged it down with a jigsaw and chiseled in a bayonet groove
Oh also on top of not letting you field stripping you also can’t mount a full length rail as it blocks off most the area around the rear takedown lever. Stock was made just for shits and giggles and also to develop my laminate woodworking skills a little bit and see if they work well
I have a full rail on mine, pull the pin and fold it up. The rest is the same. Hell I’m pretty sure Magwedge even makes one that still accepts stripper clips if that’s your flavour.
Yeah forsure, I’m not sure on the kodiak rail, I got a Magwedge Gen4, had to file out the stock a bit where it contacts. Then the factory pin you dremel off the retainer that keeps it from coming out and replace it with the quick pin or a bolt(I put the pin in so I could still take it out quickly)
Lol my rail is the pre cease and desist crusader arms clone rail. I’m pretty sure it’s a clone of the very first magwedge wail but I could be wrong. I use the ez pin but I’m on my second one (first one wore out and the retaining bearing and spring disappeared on me)
I had to look this up and go 10 years back on CGN…sure enough crusader copied magwedge…too funny. But I’ll count myself lucky that after 2 years my quick pin hasn’t blown up.
As someone who used to own an archangel stock the plastic is definitely better than the ati stock and itd be a hell of a lot easier to chop off and replace a non folding stock than this one
