Feets / Collection / My build Oh yeah, it's all coming together
Still have some wood finishing (clear coat, maybe stain it darker?) to do, and have to put in the MLOK rail inserts. But she's coming along!
Oh yeah and a clamp-on muzzle brake just for fun.

Everyone keeps saying T81 and all that, but honestly is anyone else seeing a Soviet M1 Garand with autism? Like, the Green Goblin voice in my head just keeps saying it.

I say this as a machinist…I really like this, possibly one of the most tasteful chassis for the SKS I have seen.

If it fits the hi cal adapter it’s perfect

u/s0viet_mini 12d ago
Unfortunately not. The stock mag is quite a bit thinner than the hi cal magazine assembly- I would encourage you to accommodate the Hi cal in a different iteration possibly.

u/JaxIsLoud 11d ago
You would just need to make your own front support block thing. I bought a prototype to play with and can confirm with a small amount of enginiuity you can do anything with this chassis

u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 12d ago
Good news is the body is just 2mm sheet steel, easier to remove material than it is so modify your receiver for the adapter haha

u/undernopretextbro 11d ago
I fuck with it, the flat panels , rivets, and a overall length of the gun look good. I feel like it wants a mag for aesthetic balance though.

Beautiful, and I love that you kept the bayonet

u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
Didn't want to take away one of the things that makes the SKS so unique
2
u/Some-Owl8102 12d ago
i was disappointed you weren’t using an ak type optic with that side rail like a posp or pk-a

u/GreenCactus223 12d ago
What is going on here? I need to know.

My upcoming chassis
1
u/GreenCactus223 12d ago
Yes I see but I want to see more. Does your receiver just sit in it? I have some many questions.
2
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
It gets compressed by the front lower handguard and a rear internal plastic piece. The internals are a very close copy of the standard wooden stock.

Which muzzle brake is that?
10
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 12d ago
Mine, just haven't advertised/sold it yet. I'm technically on vacation lol

u/Slowjuke 12d ago
Sick I’ve asked you a few times about them so I’m excited to get one ordered when you release it

Will that be able to accept an MWI alpha m-lok full length handguard?
Adding a step-down for the stock interface is a choice. SKS already have a huge issue with height over bore for modern optics. What's the dealio?
It looks like the pistol grip and butt of the stock are almost inline. Is your hand that high up?

u/88XJman 12d ago
Why isn’t that on your website???
1
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
I'm on vacation haha
And not ready to sell quite this is my person one (and isn't 100 percent done)
1
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears 12d ago
Yeah this is a buy for me. Any updates on approx. MSRP? Is the optic mount and wood furniture included or offered as an add-on?
This will probably beat out the hush holster chassis on my wish list if the price is competitive
2
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
I don't think I can mention exact prices but nothing crazy. Comes with all the wood and the side mount (not rail). Has a rear pic rail mount and is using my folding buffer tube in these images

u/LisaLisaKenAdoresHer 12d ago
How are you fixing the receiver in the chassis? Do you have an internal rail or something? Same pressure fit like the wooden stock?
1
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
Just like the wooden stock, its solid
1
u/LisaLisaKenAdoresHer 11d ago
No doubt, can you show an image of the inside of the chassis?

OK, so you're printing an internal form for the receiver to mate to; gotcha. Plastic trunnions, essentially.

Gimme a polymer furniture option instead of wood and I'm game Mr. Neumann

u/Response-Cheap 11d ago
Dude, will you be selling kits to build this? I always wanted a T81 SR, but they banned it before I bought one.. This thing would sorta scratch that itch I reckon.
2
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
Yes. Comes with all the wood you see and the AK side mount is pre-installed into the "receiver". Has a pic rear, so it's using my folding buffer tube in these pictures. Does not come with the brake

u/Affectionate_Fail547 11d ago
$1500 SKS no thanks
1
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
Nowhere near that expensive haha
I hope it looks like it costs 1500 tho
1
u/Bravo-252 11d ago
Rough idea when to hit the market?
2
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
A few weeks. I'll be on vacation til mid September so I can't do any assembly or finishing until then
1
u/LuckNo2351 11d ago
do you have a parts list?
2
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago
Chassis body, wood, and brake are made by me
Side rail is imported, it's a typical part you can buy on Amazon and stuff
Scope is imported, it's not a model you can buy, they exist for companies to use for ODM. It's very nice but I'm mostly going to import and sell something different, it's a bit long
2
u/LuckNo2351 11d ago
is that a cnc metal chassis?im scouting chassis for more modernized looks. but they are either hard (expensive)to get or too bulky.
3
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 11d ago edited 11d ago
Nah it's a thin sheet steel chassis, just like an actual AK. I start with a laser cut flat of sheet metal that I designed to have multiple bending points. I bend the chassis on these lines and weld the seams. Then finish everything and get it powder coated.
The interals are a hard, tough as nails plastic that compresses the SKS together just like the wood stock.
The wood is all CNC'd hardwood. The MLOK slots will have thin laser-cut black metal inserts, kind of like the Woox stuff, just haven't had time to put them in before I left for vacation. Not shown is the bottom of the lower handguard, which has MLOK slots for vertical grips (obviously though you can't use the bayonet if you do this)
It's designed to be as slim as possible, hence why people in this thread keep saying it looks long haha, it's a bit of an illusion. The slim profile ensures the AK side rails sit on-center with the bore to prevent left-offset.
I will at some point be importing the side rails (the actual QD rails, every chassis comes with the mount pre-installed) and a scope designed specifically for the SKS.
The chassis can take any AK style pistok grip, has a pic rear for buttstocks (pictured is my folding buffer tube that I make) and of course you can change the upper handguard to one of my many other styles

Can I get it in raw so I can weld the folding holes shut?
2
u/NEUMANN-METALWORKS Neumann Metalworks 8d ago
Hmm unfortunately i have no more raw ones left haha, I was too productive. But if you want you could disassemble one and get it sand blasted

this looks stamped, do you know how easy it will be to fit the hical ar15 mag adapter on this?
