Saturday morning before I left to the range, I discovered that some junkie had liberated my 1301 from my truck. Weirdly enough they didnt take any of the ammo/gear I had on top of the case. Kept my cool during the whole process, made a report & gave em the serial number (obviously im never seeing it again). the cop that came by seemed to be a gun guy & was super chill, but at this point I was feeling absolutely gutted. After mourning my loss for a few hours, the wife gave me the green light to go out & replace it. Safe to say I am happy with the upgrade & im just glad to have a replacement. I got the black Gen 2 Mod 2, which was cheaper then my gen 1?? idk how that works but fuck it we ball.

I have a chiappa model 101/ charles daly model 101 12 gauge shotgun wich i had unfortunately broken the stock on.

Was looking for some insight whether or not this could be repairable or where I can find the closest model for a replacement stock? I dont mind filing down something that is not an exact model but I am far from a wood worker

I have attached 5 photos of the butt stock for reference I was thinking of drilling it out to install some dowels and finding some commercial grade wood glue if I can not find a replacement butt stock?

I'd really like to get into putting checkering on handles. It appears that Canadian sources of checkering tools are hard to come by. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Don't link to a tool in the comments here. The subreddit bot tells me that isn't allowed....

Thanks in advance for any leads!

Hey folks, anyone able to help me with determining whether or not this is copper fouling or rust? The first time I shot this gun it rained on me, and it’s possible I didn’t get all the moisture off of it. I just cleaned the bore and ran an oiled patch through.

This Savage A22 At One followed me home a few days ago. I wanted a 22LR semi with adjustable stock for the family range days that I host. I think that this one has enough wood that most will be interested in using it. Some find more tactical looking guns less inviting.

Got it privately in new and unfired condition. Did a bit of paper punching (30 rounds) with it yesterday. Flawless cycling with Federal blue box bulk ammo.

Anybody know of a recommended break in procedure for Savage semi-autos?

Announcement FYI - Canadianfirearmsexchange.ca security vulns and shortcomings, data handling dishonesty and AI usage.

Posting with approval from the Mod team
Post flaired as Misc, couldn't find something else suitable.

I am creating this post so you can make an informed decision before signing up to this website.

Since it was shared on Monday I have been looking in to the canadianfirearmsexchange website and its creator. Original post

I have found in probing the website that not only is it scattershot with poorly implemented or unfinished features, more concerningly I don't believe he has been upfront about how the site has been created or how he's handling and storing user data.

1) His admin routes are discoverable

The client bundle lists routes including:

• /admin/users
• /admin/listings
• /admin/etransfers <----- THIS**
• /admin/contact
• /admin/reports
• /admin/broadcast
• /admin/members/$userId

**He IS collecting users etransfer information, despite saying around the website that "We never collect or store credit card or banking details."

His Supabase project ID is exposed

• Supabase project ID:Ā [removed] - Shown to CanadaGuns mods privately
• Numerous administrative route names and server-function identifiers are exposed too

2) Analytics runs before consent checks. Opt-out doesn't opt-out

The privacy policy says analytics cookies are used ā€œwith your consent,ā€ and the banner offers ā€œEssential only.ā€ However,Ā /~flock.jsĀ is inserted unconditionally into every page.

It records:

• Full page URL and path
• Referring page
• Browser user-agent
• Preferred language/locale
• A country estimate derived from your timezone
• Timestamp and session ID
• Tracks navigation
• ExposesĀ window.Tinybird.trackEvent(...), allowing the site’s other code to submit custom analytics events.

The site has a second, consent-aware analytics implementation that checksĀ cfe_cookie_consent_v1, but the separate Flock script does not perform that check. Choosing ā€œEssential onlyā€ therefore does not to stop all analytics.

Knowingly, or unknowingly he is tracking his users and they can’t opt out of it,.
I wont attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity, but in this case, both are really bad for a guy claiming to have 30 years of IT experience and raises questions about how experienced the site’s creator actually is.

3) The site lacks any anti-clickjacking protections

The sampled responses did not include either:

• Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors none'
• X-Frame-Options

Meaning an attacker could potentially place the site inside an invisible or deceptive iframe and trick a signed-in member into clicking message, listing, or account controls.

4) Finally, and in some ways the most damning of all. The site has been made using Lovable, an AI service.

• The homepage’s Open Graph image contains a Lovable project identifier ending inĀ .lovable.app.
• Image paths use Lovable’sĀ /__l5e/assets-v1/… infrastructure.
• The JavaScript explicitly references:
• window.__lovableEvents
• .lovableproject.com
• .lovable.app
• .lovable.dev

Using Lovable does not itself make the site unsafe. The concern is whether someone competent has reviewed the generated application, backend authorization, privacy model, and operational controls.

I would argue it hasn't been human-reviewed, because of everything I outline above.

People are being asked to submit their real names, providing their location data and addresses (or having it scraped) and a wealth of metadata when they use this.

Not only that, submit an etransfer payment as part of the identification verification process.

And his "geo-protections" are amateurishly done by looking up your IP using IPAPI(dotcom).

For all intents and purposes, barring the actual firearm serial numbers - he is creating alarmingly invasive and private registry of all his users. He is handling their data badly, all while saying he isn't.

TLDR;
This website tracks you even when you opt out.
The site admin is collecting a wealth of information on you, but is saying he isn't (I just cant confirm the extent of the information being collected.)
The site is made with Lovable an AI service, and uses Tinybird(Flock.js), Supabase and a limited application of Cloudflare to handle your data.

This site is a bad actors dream, I would not recommend anyone submit their personal information to it.

Misc Scammer Alert

Just wanted to share some info to hopefully protect others.

Last week I was contacted by a number (902-751-40XX) with an offer to trade a lever rifle for an antique pistol I had on TownPost. After some discussion the deal morfed into two lever rifles for two antique status pistols. I requested proof of age (for the antiques) and he sent a pic of a health card. I sent my info for a PAL verification to which the fellow said he wouldn't bother. I figured I did my part, if he wants to risk prison that's on him.

The fellow seemed very enthusiastic that I ship right away. He was using a PO Box in Springhill NS and he wanted me to ship at the same time as him or before him which is something I don't typically do as a seller. Being a trade though, I told him to give me a pic of the box with my name/address and tracking and I would ship immediately. I was even outside the post office waiting for him to ship on his end. The whole tone of the deal at this point seemed OK but I was starting to get a voice in the back of my head telling me to look close at things.

He had excuses why it was taking time to ship and said his wife was doing it. After an hour I messaged him and said I was leaving to do errands and that I would ship after he sent tracking on his end. A picture of the tracking number finally came later in the afternoon with no picture of the box or label and when I checked it the number was months old. That sent my spidey senses off.

When confronted, he said his wife must have sent the wrong picture. He was adamant that he'd just spent $140 for shipping, which sounded about right, and was really wanted me to ship as he had already done so.

At this point I figured something was wrong but still wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and said if he could provide the three things I asked for, I'd ship.

He assured me he would sort things out and get the correct information. I quickly realized that he was playing me. Providing me a picture of the shipping label hours after I asked. Saying he never actually shipped but wants to just not until I do. Even going so far as to eventually make a box of approximately the right size with a shipping label (that didn't match the first one he sent me) and saying again that he had shipped giving me a picture of tracking numbers that were obviously from a flat rate box (rifles don't fit in those).

By the time most of this was happening I'd already figured out te was trying to scam my pistols from me and I was just toying with him because he'd annoyed me. I wanted to share all this including his partially redacted information ((902-751-40XX) PO Box in Springhill NS B0M 1X0) in the hopes it saves someone else the annoyance of dealing with this idiot.

I think the thing that annoys me the most is that he got a lot of personal info from me for the PAL check and shipping.

/s (sarcasm on title)

Went to the range with my buddy to try out my fully cleaned SKS and was having a blast with it 10/10.

He wanted to get his rifle ready to get a bear starting sept 1st. So he invites me to take the first shot from his savage 110 in 300wsm. Tells me its a bit strong like the 308win Tikka i have. So i be prepared to shoot it.

HOLY FUCK B'Y !!

Like what on God's green earth is this tf!? Buddy died laughing and i was astonished by the power this cartridge has.

Guys who shoot this, dont knock on my door please. 😭

Brought it with me as a keepsake and as a goal to master it one day.

News / Politics / Activism I survived a firearms seizure, s. 111 prohib application, and PAL review

***This is a post from CGN***

My firearms were seized by the RCMP 3 years ago and I just recently had them returned, including my prohib AR. It was a very long, exhausting, mentally draining and expensive process. It is not possible to navigate without experienced counsel representing you. Approx 13k in legal fees just relating to the s. 111 prohibition application the RCMP filed. They will do anything and everything in their power to ensure you lose and intimidate you into just giving up. This includes violating the criminal code, violating the RCMP act, creating false narratives that they stupidly commit to, manipulating and falsifying evidence, violating lawyer/client privilege, and abusing their authority. During this 3 year process approximately 6 RCMP members were found to have been guilty of; neglect of duty, breach of trust, and discreditable conduct on multiple counts. If they wouldn't have been caught they would have succeeded. As soon as one got caught they all started throwing each other under the bus. The file had to be reassigned to 4 different members. The last guy it got assigned to was a traffic cop that had zero involvement with the file whatsoever. I actually felt terrible for him because they fed this guy to the wolves and made him responsible for everything when he had zero involvement.

Seizure occurs in 2023 under "exigent circumstances". No criminal record, no charges laid. Half the detachment shows up running around pointing their C8's at me just because I own firearms. I obviously fully cooperate and provide them with all information, keys, trigger lock codes etc. Everything was stored above the requirements of the Firearms Act which they stated in their report. I return to my house after they finish the seizure. They had completely trashed my house to the point where it looked like it had been robbed and then intentionally trashed. Unnecessary damage to my home and destroyed personal property, they also trashed the carpets with mud and grass stains. This was the first issue that led to the superintendent having to write a formal apology on behalf of the entire detachment for how they conducted the seizure and desecrated my home. The secure room where the firearms were stored also housed approx 50k of sensitive electronic equipment for my work that was thrown around. They seized my spent primer collection, but left my XL650, primers, powder, bullets, and a few thousand rounds of ammunition. Not wanting them to show up with the circus and trash my house again, I literally just gave everything to my my friends with PAL's for free. I believe I retained counsel immediately after the seizure. RCMP immediately contact the CFO regulatory support unit to ask for my PAL to be placed under review. This is something they actively tried to hide, we were not aware of this until over 2 years later and it only came out from FOI requests that had to be made because absolutely nothing made sense. The Crown intentionally excluded it from disclosure. This is what is known as Breach of Duty. "The Crown prosecution has a constitutional obligation to provide the defense with full and timely disclosure of all relevant information."

A few months later I come home and one of the cops from the seizure that is in charge of the file (for now) is parked at my house. As I get out of my vehicle he comes up and serves me with an affidavit for a s. 111 firearms prohibition application. While he's serving me he is basically talking trash to me and trying to intimidate me and says something along the lines of "we know everything". I thank him for the affidavit and kindly ask him to serve any future legal documents to my counsel, or serve me at their detachment. Instead of showing up to wait for me and harass me at my home. Until this point I still had no idea what was going on. When I went inside I read the affidavit and it read equivalent to a 12 year old girls diary or a fictional story written by a schizophrenic person. Zero evidence other than hearsay, double hearsay, and triple hearsay. My counsel and I now start to paint a picture but still are so in the dark.

A month or two later. They messed up the affidavit so they had to re-serve me. I get a call from a new officer who is now assigned (for now) and says the previous officer is no longer involved. He asks me to come to the detachment to serve me a new affidavit. I show up and they have 3 officers waiting for me and wouldn't even let me in the front door without fully searching me. I believe all 3 were present at the seizure. I confusingly ask what is going on and what the reasoning behind the need to search me and have 3 officers present to serve me an affidavit is. The officer assigned says "We've seen your trophies, we are scared of you." I realized he was referring to my IPSC and USPSA trophies they must have all seen when they were conducting the seizure. I retired from competitive shooting in 2019 and have trophies from matches all over Canada, the US and EU. The cat is starting to claw its way out of the bag and I'm starting to realize what is happening. I thank them, leave and go home to read the new affidavit and speak to counsel. The changes in the affidavit seem irrelevant and negligible, but we have yet to receive any disclosure packages from The Crown.

A few months later a disclosure package is finally sent. Cat is out of the bag, except the cat is dead. If you guessed that this had something to do with an ex-girlfriend up until this point, you deserve a beer. But it gets so much crazier from here on out. When they seized my firearms because they were seized under "exigent circumstances" and not with a warrant. That only allowed them to search and seize the firearms. Turns out they went through everything they could get their fingers on while they were in my house unsupervised. Not only did they go through all my lawyer/client protected court documents from an ongoing civil supreme court lawsuit. They found a handwritten note in one of my drawers that was written by my ex-girlfriend before our final breakup. The note read; "I'm sorry. I love you. I didn't want any of this. Still and always here for you, promise." That note was written well before any of this and the relationship continued for months after it was written. When the RCMP "accidentally" found this note during the seizure they determined it to be a suicide note written by me. They never questioned me about it, they just incorrectly assumed. I'm sure you guys can see the road this is heading down by now.

S. 111 hearing date is scheduled for 2 years later.

Counsel starts to get really active and gets to work. He gets the RCMP to amend their false police report regarding the note and we start going after the officers involved for the other issues. The officers try to double down and it fails. He eventually learns The Crown won't touch my ex with a 40' pole. The S. 111 full day hearing approaches and we are excited. As the hearing date approaches Crown becomes desperate. They have no evidence against me so they release a new disclosure package that includes PRIME-BC records. These are like journal/diary entries from officers that cannot be used in court except in extremely limited circumstances. It's pure hearsay. One of their arguments for why I shouldn't own firearms was a PRIME-BC record where someone reported me for "brake checking" them on the highway. However the night before the hearing The Crown notifies us they are withdrawing their application citing they have no argument as to why I shouldn't be allowed to possess firearms. Their disclosure also said that I had a valid PAL, but mentioned nothing about my PAL being under review even though they were the ones to initiate the review. So Counsel and I think they must return everything now.

IT'S OVER! WE WON RIGHT?...No you idiot, they are just getting started with you.

The Crown withdrew the application instead of asking for it to be dismissed. They did this because if it was dismissed the judge would have issued a dismissal order which would aid in forcing the RCMP to return my personal property. I do as my counsel instructs and attempt to arrange to pickup my property after the application was withdrawn. They only allow me to pickup my physical valid PAL. I continue to get the run around for weeks. After persisting the officer asks when I would like to pick them up. I tell him and then get a reply. "I have been instructed by the evidence clerk and my ssgt to not release your firearms under any circumstances as your PAL is under review." It is now almost 3 years later and we are just finding out my PAL is under review. FOI requests later reveal the RCMP initiated the review immediately after the seizure. It was at this point I became quite frustrated, upset, and felt completely defeated. I felt that if I had known that my PAL was under review I would have not put myself through all the trouble and just had everything non restricted transferred to a friend and have counsel argue to export all the restricted/banned firearms to the US via a broker.

Feets / Collection / My build Refinished and blued SKS

Hi all, hope everyones doing great. Recently got my first type56 chinese sks. Didnt really like the wood stock it came with as lots of peeled shellac and stuff. Was it good to go? Hell yeah! But did i want to refinish it? HELL YEAH!

Initially i wouldve gone with a luckyshot stock but the wait time was insane as the guy is totally hammered with orders and after looking at various aftermarket stocks i really cant get myself to install any "plastic" stocks, it kinda makes the SKS lose its aesthetic to me. I mean no hate to those that like a more modern look to the firearm ofc, its just everyone has different tastes. Plus it almost always never fits perfect unless retrofitted with spacers and pads etc.

So i took on the challenge and did the whole refinish and blued the barrel and dust covers. It took me over 12 hours including removing the cosmoline. First time ever doing it so please be kind. Went with "commie red" stains.

I wanna build out a Mossberg based shorty but there is no one I know who could do this. Also I don’t wanna pay 2-3k to get Dlask or similar shotguns based on Rem870. The Jack is based on Mav88 which is gonna be cheap to buy.

News / Politics / Activism Will the new Tarrifs drive up Gun Prices?

Just was wondering if these new 50% tarrifs will drive up the cost of new firearms coming from America?

Eg. Carmel and Makasi ?

I read over the list and all the items and it doesnt say anything about firearms/parts/accessories/scopes/ammunition

Am i missing something?

I dont really feel like paying another 50% on top of the price of the Carmel and I dont think anyone else here does either
