Application / Regulation advice Firearm owner. Can landlord enter your unit if no one is home?

Neither of us will be home tomorrow and the landlord wants to come in with a painter to paint around the door of our balcony? Being a firearm owner, are they allowed to without anyone in the home present?

Edit: My firearms are trigger locked in a Huntshield gun cabinet, ammo is in a locked cabinet in my closet. Maybe be a little nicer? I've never had a landlord come into my home while i've not been present in the 5 years i've had my PAL. So I was unsure.

Misc is 32 44 antique pre 1898

Laws dont mention 32 44 but 32 is mentioned, same with 44 Remington. I know 44 Russian is allowed, 44 Remington isn't mentioned but it sounds like it would no longer qualify because of the name.

How do you guys know if a caliber that sounds like another caliber on the no-go list but isn't on there is okay or not?

Am I supposed to take that list completely literally and any other caliber in an antique is okay? This isn't the type of thing to mess up, looking for Reddits opinion but I will call the CFP tomorrow.

Buy recommendations So I just acquired (the core of) my first lever action (Winchester 94). What's the best source for parts on this side of the border?

Post image
28 Upvotes

It's a Winchester model 94 from '79. With a complete action (minus finger lever pin stop screw) but missing (obviously) stock, barrel, magazine, and associated components. I've found some stocks already (the "tactical" ones I eventually want are a bit too pricey for now but I've also found some wood). Basically all the other components I've only been able to find in the states and even then basically all the barrels I find are for AE models.

Anyone able to help a guy out with some sources?

Application / Regulation advice Legality of blast chambers?

Weird title sorry. Spoke with the guy at WW and he said this and his Giga Chad end cap will be legal in Canada since there is no noise attenuation.

What do you guys think? I have a Botnia brake right now and the blast is significant. I wouldn't mind trying this but don't want to purchase anything that would be considered a suppressor.

I have a sako s20 308 with a vortex viper gen 2 5x25 50mm, i want to do some high volume shooting practice to be better at local competitions and better myself in general. 308 being quite expensive i want to shoot 22lr to practice. I was thinking of getting the tikka t1x ace with a smaller version of the same scope i have 3x15. Should i go with a b14 or a cz 457 and is the scope idea any good.

Feets / Collection / My build MAS-49/56 post full disassembly and cleaning.

Did a complete strip and full cleaning right down to the nuts and bolts of my new MAS-49/56. Yes, it is chambered in the original 7.5X54 (7.5 FRENCH) that these babies were originally made for and not one of the .308 conversions that are known to cause problems. Although the vast majority of the imports converted to .308 were from Century Arms, this one was also imported by them back in the day and appears they decided not to butcher it with a badly done conversion.

Only parts I couldn’t get to come off were the gas tube, barrel, front sight (didn’t want try to take the front sight off) and the side scope plate (the one security screw appears to be cross threaded and I’m going to have to probably get it drilled or something).

Everything else was removed, fully scrubbed, boiled, and oiled.

Going to be taking it out for the first time soon, but probably going to buy an after market firing pin system as the one these came with are free floating and it increases the odds of a slam firing do to the modern ammunition having softer primer than the original 7.5x54 (7.5 FRENCH) that was made back in the day.

All parts appear to be original, although with that one security screw I may need to be changing that myself unfortunately.

News / Politics / Activism More charges for former Manitoba MP Inky Mark after 445 guns, explosives found in home: RCMP

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/more-charges-former-manitoba-mp-201028923.html

Former member of Parliament Inky Mark, who was arrested on a dozen weapons offences last month, has been hit with 26 more charges, after police say they took a total of 445 firearms and 26.5 kilograms of explosives from his Manitoba home.

RCMP say the 78-year-old was rearrested on new charges on Aug. 12 after an ongoing investigation.

Mark was arrested during a July 7 search of his home near the western Manitoba city of Dauphin and was initially charged with 12 weapons-related offences, including firearms trafficking, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, three counts of unsafe firearms storage, two counts of careless use of a firearm and two counts of possession of a prohibited device.

Police said last month they took 439 guns from his home and seized other items, including an antique cannon and ammunition.

RCMP said in a Wednesday news release that after processing the evidence seized in July, they determined 445 firearms were taken from the home. Of those, 295 were unsafely stored, 10 were prohibited and 11 were restricted or prohibited firearms that were not registered to Mark, according to police.

RCMP also now say they seized 26.5 kilograms of explosives — more than four times the amount licensed individuals are allowed to possess, according to police.

A number of the restricted or prohibited firearms were stored with readily available ammunition, and two firearms registered to Mark could not be located, the RCMP release said.

In total, 38 charges have now been laid against Mark.

The 26 new charges include weapons trafficking, three more counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, nine counts of possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition, and nine counts of possession of a firearm when knowing it is unauthorized.

He's also been charged with another count of possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, two counts of failing to report the loss of a firearm and having more than six kilograms of explosives.

A few days after the initial charges were laid in July, Mark told CBC News that he broke the law by illegally transferring three guns, but denied he trafficked any.

Mark said at that point he's been legally collecting firearms since the early 1970s, but some of those weapons are now illegal to own due to gun law changes over the years.

During the initial search of Mark's home, RCMP also seized more than $300,000 in currency. Mark told CBC the cash was from property sales in Dauphin and denied it was connected with firearms trafficking.

RCMP also now allege that sometime between December 2024 and February 2025, Mark went unprompted to the home of a friend who had made a social media post about a coyote on their property, and handed that person a firearm and ammunition, according to Wednesday's news release.

The person did not use the weapon, which was later recovered by investigators.

Mark is a former MP who represented the Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa riding. He was first elected to Parliament in 1997 and resigned his seat in 2010, after serving first with the Reform party, and later with the Canadian Alliance and finally as a Conservative.

He ran unsuccessfully for the seat again in 2015 as an independent.

Prior to his time as an MP, he was elected mayor of Dauphin in 1994. He ran unsuccessfully for that position again in 2010.

I bought a shotgun online from Bullseye the other day, today I got this email from them.

Im not sure what the issue is, I got my PAL in June and have made purchases without issue.

I wasn't in any legal trouble or anything, so this seems odd. Has anyone else had this happen before?

There are some hiccups I need to address still.

Fix my gun R700 with MDT XRS rear action screw sitting low?

Hi everyone,

I have my Remington 700 SPS 308 over 10 years. Only goes to indoor range and no hunting experience. Recently got a MDT XRS and AICS 10 rounder. And planning to do long range shooting.

Here is the question, I torqued down both action screws to 65 inch pound according to MDT. However, the rear screw doesn’t seem long enough to go all the way up, and still have few threads left. As compare to the factory stock the screw is flush with the hole.

Is this normal? Thanks in advance

I am cautious about Turkish firearms, but this one feels solid and had no issues with couple hundreds of rounds through it. Very happy so far.

Gun and gear reviews AliExpress Ballistic Helmet Fail

Thumbnail

I bought an NIJ IIIa Kevlar Fast Helmet off of AliExpress for fun. After seeing all of the reviews being people making ridiculous claims about the protection and wanting to shoot it, I decided to do it.

I shot the helmet with 22LR Sub, 22LR CCI Target ammo, and Ballistic tipped 30-30. All of which passed through with no resistance, not even so much as moving the helmet. Behind the helmet was a steel gong, and even the spalling of 30-30 passed through. The inside smelled like bondo, and what looked like dry blue power and fibre glass went flying everywhere making the berm smell like an auto shop.

For all the people who want to buy one of these cheap helmets, who own one and don’t want to test it, or like to see money wasted… Don’t Buy This Helmet For Actual Protection. This is an airsoft helmet that is made of fibre glass.
