Misc is 32 44 antique pre 1898

Laws dont mention 32 44 but 32 is mentioned, same with 44 Remington. I know 44 Russian is allowed, 44 Remington isn't mentioned but it sounds like it would no longer qualify because of the name.

How do you guys know if a caliber that sounds like another caliber on the no-go list but isn't on there is okay or not?

Am I supposed to take that list completely literally and any other caliber in an antique is okay? This isn't the type of thing to mess up, looking for Reddits opinion but I will call the CFP tomorrow.

If it's not specifically on the list and pre-1898 then it's fine.

Edit: 38 Special? Fine. 45 ACP? Also fine. .50BMG? Your funeral, but technically fine.

This drives me so paranoid when some calibers sound so close to others on the list.

Yep like the poster above you said if it's not specifically called out by name on the list you are okay.

32-44 is definitely considered an antique cartridge. It was designed for a specific model of the S&W #3 revolver designated as a "Target" model as it featured increased precision and could result in 1.5in groupings at 50 yards which at the time was very accurate. They might however be difficult to find or make yourself.

What's on the list is not antique, that's about it. 32-44, the S&W target cartridge, is not on the list.

I have had a .45 Schofield cartage converted Remington New Model verified and given a letter. No problems, it's not .45LC so it's fine. My cylinder was made with great effort to NOT be able to chamber .45LC, but no one even checked that.

32-44 is legal for an antique. Though a s and w in that cal thats antique is at least 3k.

.320 is allowed as is 7.5mm and .32 European.

I’ve even seen a few .32 acp antique conversions a guy was selling them on cgn a few years ago but the frames/cylinders would often crack.
