Hit it with some brake clean, wire brush the crap out of it, then use some liquid bluing to seal it back up. Shouldn't be that hard. You aren't going to wreck it.

Ballistol and a brass brush

You have solutions, now for prevention. Use a q-tip soaked in cleaning solvent on these holes after cleaning bore.

Always clean after running corrosive but other than the basics you can use an UltraSonic or bore brush to get in the ports

Hell could just dunk the fucker in CLR then clean and cold blue 🤷🏻‍♂️

I used your idea and other the ultra sonic cleaner too the rust off the gave it a bath in g96 and then covered on Lucas oil. Don’t judge me on the oil I bought it before pedifile got in
