Hi everyone, I am looking into getting a 308 bolt action rifle for hunting and some range. I want it to be 20 inches or less and I have narrowed it down to these few:
CVA Cascade SB (Threaded barrel, good price but sort of hard to find)
Tikka T3X Lite Compact (Non threaded barrel, probably the most expensive of all, hard to find and the really expensive mags are a con)
Ruger American Ranch Gen2 (Nice looking rifle, I do have some doubts about a 16 inch barrel and I have heard there might be some issues with the feeding sometimes)
Bergara B14 Ridge SP (Also hard to find and the one I know the least about)
I would like yalls opinion on all of these rifles and if you own them what you guys think of them. Note that I think for this one I would like to buy this gun used and I don't think I would be hunting past 250 meters.
Thank you

Hey folks, I am looking at getting the Savage axis to add to my collection.
They have multiple calibers available ranging from 223 (which was the one I’m leaning towards), .243, .270, and a .308.
I want a caliber that I can shoot often without breaking the bank, but still has punch and versatility.
Do you prefer any of these over the other? Is it worth the extra cost?

Ontario based first time rifle owner here looking at getting a Tikka T3x as my first bolt rifle.
Trying to decide between .243 Winchester and .308 Winchester. Most use will be range shooting, but I’d like something that could also be used for hunting later.
For those who own a T3x:
Curious what people here ended up liking.
Thanks!

Hey shooters, Am here looking for some recommendations for buying a SXS double barrel 28”. Would prefer something available with minimal engravings also not super expensive like some Browning. Appreciate any pictures with names to look for.

A little bit sour’d on SIG after my latest experience (check last post if interested) however I’m still looking to get a .308
What’s everyone’s thoughts on the MRA Maverick? Is MRA’s 1MOA accuracy true?

Has anyone who has done so documented their process of making their Sks look like an AK? Also was wondering how far you can make it look like one before it becomes illegal

So I heard about this new website through r/canadaguns and I'm wondering if it is safe to use?

If you're looking for deals, SFRC / Ammo Source has 15% off until August 25th at noon. Coupon code: AUGUST.
Just picked up a replacement Henry Lever Supreme for $1547 all in. Normally $1700 plus shipping/tax or so everywhere. It's a replacement for the one I had to give up on a while back due to an emergency.
Just thought I'd share.

Any suggestions for a Shotgun red dot? I am looking for one with a 2moa dot and 32moa circle. Must be able to be mounted on a pic rail.
What do you guys have and suggest? Open to Amazon if proven to be reliable.

I have a gnarly astigmatism that impacts my ability to use dots. I've tried etched reticle prisms, but the ones in my budget are too bulky for my shotgun. I need something relatively small and low-profile.
I'm considering the PA x1 microprism with the green dot, but haven't seen reviews of it from people with astigmatism. Does anyone have advice on this unit?
I'm trying to keep my budget sub $400, which is why I'm not looking at fancy closed emitters or holographics. I don't have an Eotech wallet.

Considering purchasing this, any advice on the optics or the magazine?
MKII owners, can I use this for shots beyond 100m? Is the vortex optic reliable enough for that?
Is there anything else I should add to my cart?

Last .22 I bought for $500 was a Turkish lemon so I’m wondering if anyone knows how these little plinkers are? Never heard of the company and the price seems awfully low (Sub $400)

I want a compact, semi lightweight rifle for packing through the woods. I started looking at the CZ 600 Trail but after seeing some reviews decided I wanted a 16” barrel rifle with a folding stock. The Tikka T3X CTR in the MDT HNT26 chassis is what I think would fit my use case the best, but I can’t find one with a 16” barrel. Also the total for the chassis and the rifle combo is gonna be close to $4000. I could maybe go with a cheaper folding chassis that weighs a little more as long as it’s not too much heavier. Assuming I can even find a 16” Tikka.
The other rifle in 308 I found was the Ruger American Gen 2 Patrol (around $1000) which seems to have a heavier barrel but also does not fit into the MDT HNT26 chassis. So I would need to find a different Chassis.
Which then brought me to the Sig Cross which seems to be maybe the best bang for my buck ($2900) Checks a lot of boxes. It will not be as accurate as a tikka but it’s cheaper and also available.
Any recommendations for what I should do? I will probably use it at the range as much, if not more than hunting. I’m not gonna build a sick rifle and only shoot it a few times per year. I have other quality rifles in 223 that will be for range toys (cheaper ammunition)
Are there other 16” barrel rifles I should be looking at? Any other Chassis you can recommend? I really don’t want to spend more than $3000 for this gun but I will if I have too.
Thanks!

This is a new canadian gun ad store that will be launching this year, good alternative to existing ones because its protected by escrow. You don’t have to rely on good faith of the seller anymore when sending money.

Hey, I'm looking for scope recommendations. I want something that'll be good for a beginner long range shooter but that's also good for hunting. All my scopes previously have just had the normal crosshairs.
1 feature I know for sure I want is turrets with a zero stop.

Hi all, I know GoTenda Calgary is having their soft opening this weekend, but unfortunately I have to work and can’t make it. Does anyone know when they will officially be open? I’m planning to drive down from Edmonton to check them out.
They have a Tikka T3x ACE Target that I want on their website, but I’d rather not have it shipped. I’d prefer to pick it up in person.
If anyone has their Calgary contact number or knows their regular opening date, that would be great. Thank you!

Are they as bad to buy from as I've heard? I'm looking for a Henry long ranger in .308 for some moose hunting, and they're the only place in Canada I've found them in stock.

I currently store my ammo in a lockable container that hides it pretty good. I am building out a small 8x10 gun/hunting/fishng room. I am looking for something to store ammo other than ammo cans (locks cost too much to add to every one of them) that is nt insanely heavy (ie no safes) and is lockable. Any suggestions?

I ordered a gun from Cabelas on Aug 30 and the tracking is still saying it is waiting to be picked up by courier. Why does it take so long for them to process and ship products, that I presume are already landed in Canada somewhere?
Does anyone know how much longer I'm going to waiting for this firearm to be delivered?
Thanks

Just got my PAL today. So requisite which SKS to get post.
Cabelas has Chinese SKS with ATI stock for $700. $785 after tax if I go pick it up in store.
Canada's Gun Shop has a Yugo 59-66 for $850 +$15 shipping. No PST shipped to my province which saves me 7%. $907.67 total after shipping charges and tax.
Basic, matching SN, non French-tickler Chinese SKS $829. Same price as Yugo $906 after shipping and tax(also no PST).
I'm leaning to Yugo for the slightly more unique factor even though it's neutered (no grenade launcher or bayonet). I'm aware it doesn't have a chromed barrel.
Are there any others out there you guys would suggest? Is there anything wrong with the Yugo if I'm aware of the shortcomings?
I can't seem to find any wood stock SKS for less than ~850, and I don't hear great things about the ATI stocked guns that are only about $120 cheaper.
