Buy recommendations How do people bubba an SKS?

Has anyone who has done so documented their process of making their Sks look like an AK? Also was wondering how far you can make it look like one before it becomes illegal

Chop it up, paint it, do some woodworking to make stuff stick. Lots of fun!

Looks great. I’d love to do that, but I don’t have the patience and I’m sure the moment I buy an sks, it’ll get banned. Cause that’s my luck.

Damn this looks amazing. Have you documented what you’ve done anywhere?

Black Archangel stock, along with black Archangel magazines (5/30) is about the closest you can get to that type of look to my knowledge. You can also remove the bayonet, I decided to keep mine on.

Dude cut a groove in your stock for the bayonet before you get a permanently loose bayonet from the strain of being stuck in a semi closed position trust me. Dealing with a floppy bayonet is no fun

Making an SKS look like an AK is not illegal. Only exception to this would be having magazines over capacity (as in not pinned to the 5 round limit).

As for doing it, it's not hard to find guides online, you may need to search a little harder.

Theres a 100 ways to do it and everyone of them looks jank because of the trigger and pistol grip location on an SKS lol. Buying a Newman Metal works chassis would be the easiest method. Painting ur SKS would be the cheapest method, and relocating the fire control group "Blast Shadow" style would be the most proper method.

I got a Crooked Customs Phantom Chassis, another one is in a Timbercreek SKS stock.

It's only an AK if it's an AK. Hope that helps

In all seriousness. You can do whatever you want so long as it has 1% of the reciver left and uses the same action. I am not currently done my build but will have AK handgaurds, AK grip, AK magazines, side mount optics.

It's not in its final form yet. Still have the 3d printed version of handgaurd I used for a fitment test and a random stock that isn't for it. When I'm done it'll look like a ak105 and a type 81 had a baby.

People either make custom stocks or buy custom stocks. Leaving as is and putting a scope and a grip on is already bubba’d enough

Custom stock/chassis, HiCal mag adapter to run 10rd mags, Magwedge rail, ditched the front sight and bayonet lug and added a reverse faux can.
