To be brief, I think your money is better spent on an optic that is transferable. That being said, more context within your question will yield better answers. I see you have a HS509T on your 1301. Are you looking to swap that out, or what is your use case?

The 1301 setup will stay as is just looking to setup my sbs shockwave now

Right on. My setup on my old Shockwave was an outer impact mount (fits nearly any micro RDS footprint) with Bushnell RXS-250. I mounted it in the rear holes so I could still roll a shell over the top when port loading. https://www.reddit.com/r/canadaguns/s/afZKohVuCj
If you want a low mounted enclosed emitter the Vortex should serve you well. The main perk IMO is being able to keep an eye on your fasteners to ensure they don't rattle loose. I'd still go for a Holosun EPS + quality mount personally though.

I have one on my 1301. Works great. Zero issues.

Would you upgrade from a standard red dot? I have the viper on the same but wasn't sure it would be worth the price or if it would conflict with iron sights I can't remove

I had to remove the rear site on my 1301 tactical in order for it to fit. I like this one more than standard because it sits lower allowing me to get a better cheek weld on factory stock. Always a compromise! 😁

How is it with the front site? I had someone tell me that it would actually be too low, but then admit they've never put one on a 1301T

No issues what so ever. I adjusted so the dot is right on the front site at 25yards

No, not a single vortex red dot is worth the money vs other red dots on the market. I would recommend watching the Hop & Brass Facts videos on vortex red dots. They just have such a high failure rate compared to all the other chinese optics, and they have a vortex warranty premium fee aswell.
If you want something better for the same price buy a holosun and stick it on a direct mount.

I will watch those vids tonight yea I was leaning towards holsosun 407c and rmr mount to receiver

Regarding the Hop video where he mentions failing Defender ST and XL models I had the common loss of electrical connection to the battery that many other reported. I took someone else's advice and gently pulled up on the outer batter contacts on my ST an XL red dot so they now press into the battery with more force. I have not had the issue with either red dot since. Another solution is to place a piece of tap on the inside of the battery lid to increase pressure on the battery. The 3rd solution is to send it back to Vortex. I don't know if this is still an ongoing issue for Vortex on the ST or XL models. Mine were purchased in November of 2024 and would assume by now that Vortex has eliminated this issue.

I have this on my semi auto shotgun it is awesome Vector optics frenzy

I'm quite fond of mine, its held up over 400 shells so far and certainly excellent for skeet and trap shooting if you're used to being low against the barrel rib for bead sights.
however, very expensive for what it is. It might be worth while looking at clones.

The Vector Frenzy FA 1x18x22 is cheaper, better glass, and is transferable instead of being locked to your shotgun. Basically a very high quality Acro clone. Acro footprint, meaning you can get a low-profile mount like this, then mount the optic to it.
EDIT: I knew these were more, but these are SIX HUNDRED?? What the fuck. You can get two Frenzys for the same cost.

I had two of these break on me. Both 12g, one semi, one pump. Yes were fully warrantied but then re homed immediately. No issues with the holosuns so far at least for me.
