Buy recommendations New Gun classified Ads alternative with ecrow

This is a new canadian gun ad store that will be launching this year, good alternative to existing ones because its protected by escrow. You don’t have to rely on good faith of the seller anymore when sending money.

What makes you a trusted escrow? Is there even a need for escrow? Who covers escrow fees? Who handles arbitration in case of disputes?

Wonderful solution in search of a problem

As a seller, if someone told me they want to use an escrow I would tell them to pound sand given how many buyers are there who will buy on CGN, GP etc without increasing friction for me and without costing me 3%

They take the risk because other marketplaces have reputation systems built in via reviews and because once PAL is verified it’s trivial to report fraud

Why are you so pressed about this? If you don't want to use it, don't. I am very risk averse, and anything that reduces risk is a plus for me, like damn.

"Hello police this guy who's info I have including bank details scammed me for a gun" 

"Hello bank, this guy is attempting to scam me over a fraudulent firearms deal"

And from that point on you can rise your hands until the civil case

Email transfer to someone you don’t know. Not sure I’ve ever heard of the bank canceling an email transfer. I know people who have got scammed out of concert tickets and other things in the exact same way.

You need their information in order to make a payment. 

If they scammed you ask the bank for their information and reports to the police

I've been buying and selling on Reddit and gunpost and classifieds for years 

I live in Newfoundland and have bought shit from people in BC. 

Never once had a scammer popped up, I've had a few sketchy deals fall through 

I had a couple people sell me guns in a parking lot 

I have cold called people to buy handguns before.

Firearms is such a high trust environment because we are all licensed and registered individuals. Any hint of a scam is going to bring a lot of police attention immediately and nobody wants to deal with that

It's just a single page with an email input.

thanks for your input, i will put more details, both buyers and sellers will agree to a contract when posting ads/buying something, escrow will be handled by an official escrow agent like stripe, helcim or cornerstone and insurance will be put in place, arbitration will be handled by our team

Are you actually a registered MSB? The site says that you are FINTRAC registered but I don't see a MSB number anywhere.

Dude you can’t claim that and go “it will be when it’s launched” same with your claim that you are bonded and insured. You can’t just make claims like that if they are not true.

you clearly won’t use the service no matter what i say, there’s a way to voice your opinion and this ain’t it the market doesnt even exist officially yet and youre already judging, you trust people on other market baised on good faith why wouldnt you do it for bornite, a business that steals people doesnt stay in business for very long

Just so that it is not me shitting on this in multiple comments without providing anything of value….

I am telling you all this to save you time. Marketplaces are hard and people are creatures of habit. Especially when it comes to changing their habits around trust and money.

Instead of a marketplace, looking for something that is useful to a single seller or a shop but also provides a network effect.

For example , every store now runs those stupid ticket raffles for guns. Make a white label platform that allows me to launch my own in a complaint way with trust factor being publishing algo on how random draw works (trust via transparency) . Then you can leverage network effect to notify people of similar raffles near them.

This is just a random half baked idea for illustrative purposes.

I spent almost two decades building marketplaces on someone else’s dime. I would never run a restaurant or start an online marketplace on my dime. It’s pain and suffering.

Sorry I am going to keep relying on GP rep, and recent rep, under 300$ tx saftey protocol, give tracking number and wait at post office in case buyer doesn't pay, etc scam prevention.

This site only really helps for bespoke deals.
