Buy recommendations 5.56

While waiting for the makasi, what brand/type of 5.56 can you recommend. My 1st 556

I swear by this, I've got tons of 357mag and 223rem from them, never had an issue.

Cheapest stuff you can find for practicing.

Usually it's PMC Xtac, PMC Bronze or Winchester White Box

PMC is pretty much always a good choice, federal XM193 or XM855 if you can find it is pretty solid stuff, has nice lake city brass too

Only reason I would say to stick to pmc bronze is if anyone plans on reloading then the bronze has no primer crimps to worry about.

I actually only reload my lake city brass since it's NATO brass. It does have the primer crimes but the proper primer picket reamer, not cleaner but the reamer, will cut away the crimp and they primer just as easy as .223 brass after the first reload. I just use the manual Lyman one

Ya I borrowed a reamer from a buddy and went through about 800 rounds of lake city but have about 1500 pmc bronze that I’m on my 3-4 firing of now. If you have a large batch it’s at least a step to leave out of the equation.

I still thinking about panic buying a few thousand rounds of federal 55g ball for $375/1000 right at the onset of the COVID hysteria and kick myself for not buying 10k rounds. But then I remember how they banned my AR15 so I bought two other 556 rifles that are now also prohibited and I kick myself for not overthrowing our government.

Influx of newbs asking what 5.56 to get. Just buy whatever more convenient or cheap. Pmc, wwb, federal etc is all bulk ammo that will all run the same.

Whatever's cheap and in bulk at my LGS. They were recommending a higher grain for it like 70 something see what's what the day of.
