Buy recommendations Buying a modified SKS bolt

I am looking to modify my SKS with an AR15 magazine adapter and was wondering if anyone sells already milled SKS bolts for AR15 magazines so I don't have to go get mine milled at a shop or attempt to do it myself

Also, has anyone got there bolt modified and can give me a rough estimate of how much it costs?

Application / Regulation advice Ontario Borrowing ATT

For the past 10 days or so, I've been trying to get through to the Ontario CFO to obtain a firearm borrowing ATT. I sent an email to apply 10 days ago and have called numerous times.

Seems like they have been closed throughout and unable to get through on call.

Any advice?

Misc If I have an SKS reciever and barrel...

Hi r/canadaguns

If I had an SKS barrel and receiver, would I be able to purchase a stock and install the pieces into the stock? Are there any other factors that I would need to be aware of?

I haven't done something like this before, my apologies if this may seem like a ridiculous question.

Thank you for your time!

Looking at getting an IPSC belt and holster, and saw Range Junkie has what I’m looking for.

Has anyone ordered from them before?

Hello everyone, was wondering if any of you know what choke tubes it takes, or what they look like, been thinking it would make a handy little slug launcher with a Carlson rifled tube on it, if anyone has any info that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Buy recommendations MK15 restricted vs nr?

Why do people dislike the restricted version so much? Only difference is barrel length really right? Also it hadn’t even come out why are they putting the NR above R

Misc New FRT Tool

Ok, so this is off topic from what I usually do... But over the weekend I decided to make a tool to parse the 108,000 page PDF of the FRT the RCMP publishes a couple times per month. It was pissing rain and windy, so this was more fun than shooting.

Today I'm launching https://gunlink.ca/ The site will let you search the FRT, see classification, cross references, and other info. It will also let you download the pdf for a specific firearm. There's still some features I want to add, but for now it's mostly working.

For the fellow nerds, here's my source code for parsing the PDF: https://github.com/alkalifeldspar/Frt-Parse

It takes an hour and a bit to process the PDF into a MySql DB.

Disclaimer: This is 100% a personal project and not owned or operated by SBI. The site is an unofficial reference only. Data may be incomplete, incorrect, or out of date. Do not rely on this information as a legal or authoritative source — consult the official RCMP Firearms Reference Table for authoritative information.

Buy recommendations Best first hunting rifle to buy?

Hi all!

I have recently got my PAL and wanna go hunting this fall.

I dont wanna hunt moose for a couple years. The only reason for getting a gun rn is to hunt whitetail deer.

I know people would say buy a tikka t3x lite and all.

But i dont wanna buy it right now. Wanted a rifle chambered in 270 Winchester/ 6.5 CM for the forgiving trajectory and recoil as im super new to shooting. But in a couple years id go buy a tikka t3x chambered in 308 winchester.

I have narrowed down my search and these are the rifles i would pick one from:

  1. Winchester xpr bolt action (270 win)

  2. Weatherby vanguard (270 win)

  3. Mossberg patriot predator(6.5 CM)

  4. Ruger gen 1 bolt action(270 win)

  5. Savage axis xp2 (6.5 CM)

Please help me choose and if need be advise on other models.

Edit: I thank all of you who have given me excellent advice. I really didnt know the gun community in Canada is soooooo friendly. You guys are all amazing !

Buy recommendations Good folding/backpacking guns?

I like spending time in the forest and I work (well, I would work, if there wasn’t a recent huge budget cut) in the forestry industry. With that in mind, I always considered getting a nice compact gun to stow away in my pack for peace of mind, ease of carrying, and maybe some spontaneous hunting.

I know of the Chippa Little/Double Badger, as well as the Mossberg Shockwave, Savage 24 and 42, and various other Turkish sloppers, but I was curious if there were any other options any of you would recommend?

New, used, antique, doesn’t matter much, just something nice that folds up compactly, but ideally stays in one piece. I have an old takedown Remington Model 10, but it breaks down into two pieces and takes a few minutes to put together which I find less convenient.

Feets / Collection / My build Mutt FN Browning Trombone

Despite the stamp saying "Winchester Model 67" and the previous owner thinking the gun was a mis-print and was actually a Winchester Model 61, this isn't really a Winchester at all!

It's actually a really early FN Browning Trombone that's been re-worked at some point. The barrel has been replaced with one from a single action Winchester 67 and the rear stock has been replaced as well. It was a real bastard trying to figure out.

It's got an incredibly simple bolt that tilts to the side to lock and the magazine tube moves back and forth with the pump: just like a trombone.
