Visited the Easter Arms Show here in Calgary today, left with this old girl. Eddystone M1917, Canadian marked! Haggled down the gentleman from $800 to $700 and I honestly feel bad about it... Looking forward to some good shooting with her this summer!

Here’s my family photo. You can see how my retrograde turned out! Very nice grain structure, believe it’s walnut.

I have No.4, but not the battle dress etc. Etc.
I think the cost of a kit is vaguely 1k and that is the major barrier, I'd probably do Loyal Edmonton Regiment. I had a family member KIA battle of Rimini and I've been planing a lecture for a while after getting my goalie mask done here to explain it.
I've done a awful lot of reading though war diarys and stuff the last few months around it. I novelly been using ai tools of notebook lm to scan though sorces materials as well.
I just still haven't figured out scripting and recording it.
I was having imput often from my closest online buddy who is a retired US Army Sergeant: he was motormen, tanker, and armorer, combat veteran to Iraq. Incredibly storied individual and invaluable going though this sometimes.

I was wondering whether it is legally possible in Canada to modify a deactivated firearm for an art or display project, provided that none of the parts involved in the original deactivation are touched or reversed.
For example, if a firearm has already been properly deactivated to Canadian standards, with documentation, would it still be lawful to make cosmetic or structural changes such as cutting or shortening the barrel, replacing the stock, changing furniture, or attaching external hardware, as long as the modifications do not restore function or interfere with the welded, blocked, pinned, or otherwise deactivated components?

Hey guys, so I recently came into a pretty large amount of money. And I’m following the financially responsible path of investing in low risk moderate return mutual funds and dividend stocks in my TFSA
… Is what I’d say if I was a NERD
Anyways, I’ve decided what I need most in my life is a M76 Valmet in 7.62x39, I’d maybe (maybe) settle for one in .223 but idk. I love the look of them and I think they’re beautiful firearms.
What I’m wondering is what the typical market value is for them right now. I’m also curious of how that has changed over the past few years, have they gone up (IE can I justify this as a good investment) or have they remained largely stagnant?
I know these things are like ultra rare, and finding one to begin with is probably the greater concern than affording it, but yeah. How much do they typically go for?

Howdy Folks!
The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post.
Today we have the one and only! HK-416! Or in Canada with the known civilian model. The MR223, over here in the US we call it the MR556, but nonetheless it is the same rifle with just a different name.
Anyways. This was available in Canada and was a pretty popular expensive rifle, and it’s what I like to call the Generic Special Forces Rifle, the Right Arm of NATO, and the rifle where she is All You Need!
I mean anyone can gloat about this rifle all day.
Enjoy everyone!

I would love to have a Lee Enfield 303 British in original military configuration, but unfortunately those cost close to a grand right now, if not more. And I am not ready to fork that out at the moment. I could get a sporter for $300-400, and then buy an original stock and handgrips and put them back on. But I don't know how easy this is, and I have never done serious gun modifications before. I also don't know if any special parts are needed. Does someone have insight into this? Thank you for the answers.

Picked up this crate for an absolute steal. Far cheaper than anything I was able to find on the online sites.
There may be a lot of over priced stuff on there but sometimes you find a diamond in the rough.
Does this qualify for a milsurp tag?

Howdy Folks!
The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER gun appreciation post, where this time we got a gun that was once available in Canada before being prohibited.
It’s a pop culture icon for sure, and it’s easily the most recognizable thing in existence that anyone can feast their eyes on.
The one and only!
Magnum Research/IMI Desert Eagle
Enjoy!

The Texan is back with yet another gun appreciation post, this time with the UMP series, or as it was sold, the HK USC PCC.
Many of you probably have played many video games and fell in love with these guns, so how about we compile them into a post for ya. IMO, the UMP series is okay as an SMG and PCC, sure it’s got some issues, but at the same time, it definitely deserves love.
Anyways, thanks and enjoy!

The Texan is back with yet another Gun Appreciation Post, this time with a Prohibited Item now, was once popular in the Canadian gun market funny enough.
The one and only!
Robinson Armament XCR.
It’s a cool rifle for what it is, and honestly it should have been adopted in my opinion because it was made from the ground up, and is a reliable weapon platform.
Anyways enjoy

Howdy Folks!
The Texan is back with yet another gun appreciation post, this time with something of a distant memory, aka Pre-2020 times, back when you used to be able to get an AR-15 platform or lower before they were prohibited.
Now this one isn’t really a gun per se, it’s more of an upper receiver as it was mostly sold this way as a DIY kit. Yes you could get this as a complete firearm, but nowadays thats obviously impossible for you guys since they are now Prohibited Category Firearms.
But still, it is definitely worth a mention because the AR-57, while it wasn’t a perfect platform, it was actually a stepping stone for making 5.7x28mm get out of niche caliber territory, and is now gaining more widespread adoption and popularity, especially because of…. Recent events at an In N’ Out location that gave the round more attention.
Anyways enough of me yapping! Enjoy!

The Texan is back with yet ANOTHER Gun Appreciation Post, where today we have an Italian Classic Gun that was very popular back in the Canadian gun market before they were prohibited.
If y’all are Gamers and Weebs, y’all obviously will recognize it easily! It’s a basic pistol, yet it gets the job done!
The one and only!
Beretta M9/92 Series of Handguns!
Enjoy!

Picked up a sporter SMLE today on the cheap. clean bore, good finish, decent wood. The trigger is maybe the smoothest Enfield trigger I've ever felt. pretty excited to shoot it!
r/canadaguns • u/PermissionSafe2183 • Mar 24 '26
Picked this up at a gun show recently is it worth trying to put back to original configuration or no? All matching serial numbers but obviously a sporter.
Barrel is very clean also
