Milsurps / Prohib Panzer Arms AR-57 Appreciation Post

Howdy Folks!

The Texan is back with yet another gun appreciation post, this time with something of a distant memory, aka Pre-2020 times, back when you used to be able to get an AR-15 platform or lower before they were prohibited.

Now this one isn’t really a gun per se, it’s more of an upper receiver as it was mostly sold this way as a DIY kit. Yes you could get this as a complete firearm, but nowadays thats obviously impossible for you guys since they are now Prohibited Category Firearms.

But still, it is definitely worth a mention because the AR-57, while it wasn’t a perfect platform, it was actually a stepping stone for making 5.7x28mm get out of niche caliber territory, and is now gaining more widespread adoption and popularity, especially because of…. Recent events at an In N’ Out location that gave the round more attention.

Yeah, they really try to take 5.7x28mm to 9mm status, and this firearm is a proof of that.

I assume the cost of AR57 is also a fraction of PS90 as well.

It's too bad the OIC happen, I really want to see this caliber get popular.

Even if they’re legal, I still don’t like it because it’s a stupid idea.

Now before you say, “But what about Kel Tec?”, at least those guys in Florida are willing to try new things without any risks because very few government organizations would want to use their products.
