Hope you mean the wood, garand actions should be greased for lubrication. Gotta keep those old gals running smooth

I use Breakthrough Cleaning Technology Grease but there are lots of options

Aeroshell 64 is what the Swiss use. Cheap and plentiful at aircraft supply stores

Is yours in .30-06 or .308? All I was able to find at any store was the .308 post war versions

I've got a '44 winchester that was converted to .308 after the war

That's awesome. Mine is a 1947 I think? Chambered in 308 from the factory. It's very cool and such a fun gun, I feel very lucky to have one at all tbh

Yes, I quite enjoy the Garand. I got my throat fucked HARD when the SVT got banned, not very expensive I totally could've bought one I just didn't. Really wanted one too. Wasn't gonna let that happen again.

Looks really nice! I am in the process of oiling a Husqvarna 1640 beechwood stock with tung oil. I have done so far 4 coats thinned with mineral spirits and a pure one. Not too happy with the last one so I’ll go back to thinned coats. What’s your procedure?
