Feets / Collection / My build Huskemaw Scope Sight In

Post image
8 Upvotes

Does anyone have a Huskemaw Blue Diamond and understand the re sighting procedure?

Long story short I inherited one on a 30.06 Sako Grey Wolf, and the gun is shooting 24” high at 100Y and it just gets worse the further you go out. Tried the little side adjust at the correct distances and still no luck. Gun came with 300rds of Hornady 165gr SST and the ballistic turret is engraved for that round so I’ve no reason to suspect ammunition is the issue.

Contacted Huskemaw and probed the YouTube and various other reputable resources and still haven’t found an actual how to guide to sight these things in.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Misc "AR" style shotguns question

Hi all. Since pretty much all shotguns with an AR look and magazine have been banned like the canucks, and deyras. Since guns like the carmel and mk15 are coming out, are there any able to be passed by RCMP

Application / Regulation advice Armalytics update

A few folks have been wondering what's going on with Armalytics lately? And rightly so. The project took a back seat for a little while due to other things, not to mention some changes on the RCMP side that broke the automated updates.

However, the site has been revamped!

What's new
- 3-pane layout lets you filter, browse, and view details all at once (Desktop)
- Direct links to individual firearms
- Improved data syncs mean no more missed updates

What is coming soon:
- Historical FRTs, French, and more.

Check it out and reach out if you have any issues or comments.

My goal has always been to democratize the FRT data and make it easily accessible to all in the community. And as always pro-firearm, no ads, no affiliations.

Thanks to all the users.

I bought a refurbed ‘43 pu mosin for 2k. The scope serial number a large b number, so probably made in 44. Mag plate force matched, otherwise all matching. Is this overpriced in todays market?

I wanted to do a little comparison with the Henry Mares Leg .22LR and the “traditional” Henry Lever action! Here are my results at 25 yards. (I did adjust my sights afterwards)

Have you guys had similar results with your mares leg?

Application / Regulation advice Gun Laws

Question for all the milsurp guys. Wife and I have been kicking around the idea of moving to Canada from the States, most likely the Winnipeg area since she has family there. I have 2 bolt guns and a lever action that I want to take with us if it becomes a reality. Where would I start this process, and is Canadian law goofy when it comes to flash hiders and bayonets? Any help or advice is appreciated!

Application / Regulation advice Guns in the Will

So I’ve recently received my PAL and my aunt has told me she’d like my to have my grandfather’s old Winchester 1894. What’s the process for this? Is it as simple as just going to pick it up, what with the registry not existing anymore? That’s what she seems to think but I feel like there’s gotta be some kind of catch.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know of someone who does PAL courses near Fredericton, NB? Actually asking for a friend.

Edit: thanks for the suggestions. Buddy expanded his search area and got one in NS.

Just finished this Rugar 10/22 Build. Took around 2 months to complete. Cost 380 for the gun, around 100 in filament (First time using a 3D printer BTW). Overall pretty satisfied! Unfortunate that the 10/22 has a legal max capacity of 10 rounds in a mag tho.

Buy recommendations Screw in chokes for F. Sarasqueta O/U 12GA

Hey folks. Waiting on my PAL and window shopping ahead of time. How hard is it to find the screw-in chokes for this shotgun that I found on InterSurplus? Should I avoid screw-ins for my first unit?

Thanks.

Rugger 10/22 SBR Model Number: 33000

It has a OAL of 26" and a barrel length of 8" so I don't see why it wouldn't be available in Canada because it would be legal as NR

Gun and gear reviews Adler RF224 owners: is ~4 MOA at 50 yards normal?

Thumbnail

Just finished my first accuracy test with a new Adler RF224 (12" barrel) and I'm curious whether these results are typical for other RF224 owners.

Setup

  • Adler RF224
  • UTG BugBuster 3-9x32
  • RWS Rifle Match
  • 50 yards
  • ~35 km/h wind

Results (4 groups)

  • Average: 3.96 MOA (2.08")
  • Best: 3.09 MOA (1.62")
  • Worst: 4.60 MOA (2.41")

For comparison, my Ruger 10/22 will usually shoot around 2 MOA or a bit better at 50 yards with decent ammo. I expected the RF224 to be somewhat less accurate because of the shorter 12" barrel, but I wasn't expecting groups to be nearly twice as large.

What really stood out to me was the trigger. It has a very long pre-travel and feels extremely heavy. It was difficult to get a clean break without disturbing the sight picture, so I'm wondering if the trigger is the biggest factor here rather than the barrel itself.

A few questions for RF224 owners:

  • What kind of groups are you getting at 50 yards?
  • Have you upgraded the trigger?
  • Can the RF224 use Ruger 10/22 trigger string? I know the extractor and fire pin are compatible.
  • If you upgraded the trigger, did it noticeably improve your practical accuracy?

My plan is to upgrade the trigger and repeat the test with the same ammo to see how much difference it makes.

Thanks for any feedback.

Buy recommendations Did I understand our laws correctly or am I about to do something stupid?

From what I understand, cutting a cannon on a rifle is illegal under 18 inches. But you can buy a rifle with a cannon under 18 inches if it’s made that way. Cutting a stock is also illegal if the total length falls under 26 inches. I plan to buy a heritage roughrider with a 16 inch cannon and 32inch overall length, so here’s my questions:

1- Can I trim the stock on the red line as long as I respect the 26 inches rule?

2- Is there an official way to measure a rifle from a precise point to another? Or is the rifle considered legal if you lay it down on a tape and it touches the 0 and 26 no matter the part or the angle of the gun?

3- Can I make a custom holster and shoot that bad boy with one hand like a regular revolver?

4- At what point does a rifle become a pistol to the eye of the law?

Misc .44 Russian vs .44 Henry Centrefire

I have an antique Brazilian Nagant Revolver, almost literally from Forgotten Weapons lol. It is originally chambered in .44 Henry Centrefire, my question is would it be ok to use .44 Russian? Would it have to be reamed like a Reich's revolver or is there something I'm missing as to why that wouldn't work? I've tried reading up on the differences between the cartridges but end up getting spun around. Alternatively I could get someone custom reload for me (I'd love to reload myself but am short on physical space and time currently), but if .44 Russian will work I'd rather go with the relatively cheaper, available option.TIA
