u/Supercilious-420 Jun 05 '26

No but you’re also allowed to carry a knife legally

14

u/King-Conn Jun 05 '26

Not entirely true, you cannot conceal and must have a "valid" reason.

I had a horse cop bark at me when I brought my hunting knife (in a sheathe) when I went fishing. Said he could arrest me because I look like I'm up to trouble (I was 15, had my hunting knife, tackle box, fishing rod, lunch bag, and a boonie hat)

10

u/SolemnSpider Jun 05 '26

you cannot conceal a knife *without* a valid reason. horse cop was definetly in the wrong, but the green pants police would have made fun of you for bringing the wrong knife

2

u/Forward_Fox_833 Jun 06 '26

kirpan says hi

2

u/Supercilious-420 Jun 05 '26

yeah the grey area comes from what the intended use is, that being said if you have a valid purpose (which can include occasionally opening packages) you're totally allowed to have a folding knife, or a knife in a sheath, so long as they are not concealed. Just seems like we all enjoy the same rights to me. The Kirpan should be allowed imo, just as long as it is not concealed (same as everyone else). Just the purpose for carrying is a little bit different than cutting boxes but they pretty much have just as much of a right to carry knives as we do.

I carry a folding knife in my pocket a lot... I use it for everything.. everything from opening packages, to prying things open... even eating. I could use it for shaving, its so sharp. The blade is 4 Inches long and clearly not intended as a weapon. My best buddy is a cop and he sees no problem with it.

5

u/Johnny-Unitas Jun 05 '26

I must break the law every day of my life. Shrug.

5

u/717Luxx Jun 05 '26

knives can't be concealed, and you must have a "valid reason" to carry the knife you're carrying. super vague. and a deep carry pocket clip becomes illegal lol

9

u/Supercilious-420 Jun 05 '26

Yeah it's vague but it seems like I know a lot of people who carry pocket knives and I don't know one single story of somebody having it taken away or even being questioned about it. Sheathed knives too.

17

u/Enough_Challenge7264 Jun 05 '26

Yes. Carry it everywhere, I'll do the same...we all should. They can't arrest and detain us all.

27

u/Natas29A Jun 05 '26

We should start an official religion.

41

u/Tomato13 onTerrible Jun 05 '26

No cause that's a white man religion

12

u/FenderFanatic Jun 05 '26

Then I say Maadi instead of AR15

9

3

u/Current-Speed4096 Jun 05 '26

3

u/MBGLK Jun 05 '26

You might be on par with the whites in terms of getting shafted by the government then, good luck.

3

u/Current-Speed4096 Jun 05 '26

we already are lol.

12

u/InitialAd4125 Jun 05 '26

No because some religions are more equal then others in Canada and our charter isn't worth the paper it's written on because judges don't know how to read like a normal person and think things like the word "every" can have a "reasonable limitation" put on it when the reasonable limit to every is no limit at all.

1

u/hkhunkhun Jun 15 '26

What religions are more equal than others in Canada?

2

u/InitialAd4125 Jun 15 '26

Say I was to create a religion would that religion be given special status and rights? No it likely wouldn't. So right there established pre existing religions are given special rights. Also some are so entrenched in some provinces they even get government funded religious schools i.e catholic schools in Ontario which I had the displeasure of attending one growing up.

u/Canuk723 Jun 05 '26

I've actually wondered this before but figured it was dumb and would never happen, but in norse paganism weapons are technically part of my religion so could I sue the government for my firearms rights because their laws restrict what weapons I'm allowed to own thus infringing on my religious beliefs?

1

u/Current-Speed4096 Jun 05 '26

i posted this as a satire to have some fun with yall in these dark times.

It will never be feasible since white man religion is almost outlawed. And as a chopstick user, I deeply understand the struggle. I'm here to blend in, not bring whatever bs i was trying to escape from, let alone claiming it to be a religious privilege.

1

u/MacintoshEddie Jun 05 '26

It's one of those theoretical things where theoretically yes, there is a possibility, but in practice it will be denied or only approved in such a way that it is a functional denial. Like if they said yes but you cannot touch it or point it and it cannot be loaded and you cannot carry or possess ammunition and only on private property and only with an ATC which requires your local police department to verify an imminent threat on your life which they cannot protect you from. Which is a long way of saying no.

1

u/xgamerdaddyx Jun 05 '26

Depends on who approaches with it. Need someone to check all the boxes of inclusivity

1

u/ellibor Jun 05 '26

And the lord spoke to moses: ".45 is thy number for it is perfect, and holy"

1

u/ManufacturerMuch5116 Jun 05 '26

keymod in 2026 is insane lol

1

u/black_covfefe_please Jun 05 '26

My denomination believes the FN FAL is the true inspired weapon.

1

u/Rogan403 Jun 05 '26

Theoretically? Yes. Realistically? Not a chance in hell.

1

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Jun 06 '26

I have a claymore that I hang on the wall in my workshop.... thats a scottish claymore... not a "this side toward enemy" claymore. A bit more dorky than an ar-15, and not as fun... but still cool in it's own way.

1

u/No_Heat_6072 Jun 08 '26

I'd join that CHurch

They can Carry Knives, we can carry AR's.

1

u/Current-Speed4096 Jun 08 '26
