Gun and gear reviews 10/22 Tommy Gun Build

Just finished this Rugar 10/22 Build. Took around 2 months to complete. Cost 380 for the gun, around 100 in filament (First time using a 3D printer BTW). Overall pretty satisfied! Unfortunate that the 10/22 has a legal max capacity of 10 rounds in a mag tho.

Awesome build, a shorter barrel would be sweet on this.

Yup, nice thick bull barrel with the muzzle crown recessed with a hole, say, 0.45in. :)

Maybe you can use 597 drum with a adapter?

How did you get a 10/22 for $380? Looks fantastic tho I’d go shorter barrel if it was me tho

$380 for a used 10/22 without any extras is decent price. I’ve seen basic 1022 go for 350-550 usually

2

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Yeah it’s a good price hence why I was asking lol

3

u/dgod40 Jun 04 '26

pretty much every business has the Ruger 10/22 Carbine 22 LR 18.5″ for under 380

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Not that I’ve seen lol prices are out of control past few years

Ok thanks!!

There was a consignment one for that price on Tenda this week. I paid $399.99 in February for a basic 10/22 w/ 2 x BX-25 mags from Tenda, and that was not even a sale price.

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Good to know

2

u/goshathegreat Jun 04 '26

I paid 350 for my 10/22 last Christmas…

1

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Nice I ended up building a custom one but definitely not for that price lol

2

u/goshathegreat Jun 04 '26

I bought the cheapest one I could find, since I already had a Tapco chassis I bought for 30 bucks at an auction.

1

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Sweet makes sense good job

2

u/goshathegreat Jun 04 '26

My only complaint is that the barrel isn’t threaded, and I want to put a reverse fake suppressor on it.

1

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

The grey birch I built has a threaded barrel but I have zero need to put anything on it being 22 I thought about a muzzle brake but realistically what for lol too bad we can’t get actual suppressors then it makes more sense

Man I paid 219 for mine in 2020

Unfortunate that the 10/22 has a legal max capacity of 10 rounds in a mag tho.

You can get a 110 round GSG-16 magazine for it, with a Remington 597 adapter. Shelpen Polymer Works sells a working GSG-16 to Remington 597 adapter (surprisingly reliable, but it is "prototype" grade). I do wish it were made of Aluminum, but it's solid enough.

7

u/Mountain-Badger-4627 Jun 04 '26

I have the GSG-16 magazine for my Derya tm22, might aswell get a adapter for the 10/22

2

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

The 110 round drum definitely wasn’t reliable in the gsg probably more due to the gun tho lol good to know I’ll will check that out thanks

4

u/Hot_Cheesecake_905 Jun 04 '26

I’m surprised the adapter even worked - because other third-party drum adapters are entirely defective. I took a chance because Shelpen is a mechanical engineering student, so it seemed like he had the skills to build a working adapter.

I was able to fire off 2 drums with minimal jams.

I haven’t used the adapter much; it’s too much hassle to load the drum 😂

2

u/epnk420 Jun 04 '26

Yeah loading a drum sucks lol

1

u/Rogan403 Jun 05 '26

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that drum catch a prohibited designation for some reason?

6

u/FortyMaximus Jun 04 '26

Not sure if Google is updated but there is no max capacity for .22 LR if the magazine is not compatible with a pistol as well as rifle. Hense the Stricker 10/22 pistol

3

u/Guzzlebutt Jun 04 '26

That's sick! Keep the long barrel, no need to sacrifice performance.

3

u/RyukoT72 on Jun 04 '26

The long boy

3

u/GreenMan165 Jun 04 '26

Awesome, I considered one of those 10/22 Thompson kits that Aztec Armory had for a while and maybe still do, but never could justify spending the money, that comes in quite a bit cheaper. The magazines look sweet too!

2

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jun 04 '26

Man I wish they still make/import those 50 and 70 round drums for the 597.

3

u/goshathegreat Jun 04 '26

Promag still makes them, and IRunGuns still imports them…

1

u/Acceptable_Visit_115 Jun 04 '26

Oh shit. Last time I checked they only had the 30 round drums (which is pointless considering 30 round sticks exist). Time to buy some!

2

u/Remote_Mistake6291 Jun 04 '26

I ordered one of the 70 round ones through irunguns. They canceled my order as they can not export anything over 50 rounds.

2

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR Jun 04 '26

That is fuckin awesome.... wow!!

2

u/FortyMaximus Jun 04 '26

I need one immediately

2

u/Graverobber13 Jun 04 '26

I think Tommy's been telling lies!

2

u/Marvin-The-Marvtian Jun 04 '26

Are you able to share these stl files?

3

u/Mountain-Badger-4627 Jun 04 '26

I found this on thingivere. I have the 10/22 original but there's also an option for the takedown version. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3684581

1

u/Marvin-The-Marvtian Jun 04 '26

Much appreciated

1

u/Mercrantos2 Jun 04 '26

Thanks for asking, I'm hoping for this as well!

2

u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jun 04 '26

I’ve seen everything now. The 10/22 is the best cope platform

1

u/slcrambler Jun 04 '26

1

u/Rewindonemoretime Jun 04 '26

1

1

u/guestpassonly Jun 04 '26

1

u/GFN_good_for_nothing Jun 05 '26

This is so fun, cool build man. I love the hilariously long barrel, kinda reminds me of Jack Nicholson’s Joker revolver lol

u/davidc538 onterrible Jun 04 '26

Is it full auto?

1

u/Mountain-Badger-4627 Jun 08 '26

Yeah but it’s fire rate is less then my Sako S20’s fire rate. 😂
