Buy recommendations Derya TM22 Pro 12" or 16"

What barrel length would you recommend for a Derya TM22 Pro 12" or 16"? 18" is out of the question.

I want to plink/target practice up to 100 yards and hunt small game like grouse and pigeons. For hunting, I’d keep shots under 50 yards, but realistically most of my shots would probably be under 25 yards.

I plan to throw on something like a cheap 4-16x44 scope. I'm wondering if that big of a scope would look goofy on a 12" barrel. Also wondering how much practical difference does the extra 4” barrel actually make for effective/ethical accuracy and velocity at ~50 yards.

Application / Regulation advice Rim fire over all length question.

When it comes to legal OAL for a rim fire fire arm is the muzzle attachment included? For example if i wanted to put a folding stock on my rifle that would bring it under legal length if I attached a fake suppressor and just never removed it would it still count towards the overall length even though it could be removed with out a tool?

Buy recommendations New pal owner looking for a range shooter with more pop than a 22.

I'm a recent holder of a brand new PAL. I got my card in April and was gifted a Lakefield Mark 2 .22, a Mossberg Chuckster 22 mag, a Remington model 783 30-06 and a Lakefield 12ga Pump.

I took my 22, 22mag, and 30-06 to the range a couple weekends ago and had a lot of fun with the 22's. I'm still learning about calibre sizes and to be honest it's a little overwhelming.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a new rifle to bring to the range? Something with a little more oomph than the 22's but not as much as the 30-06. I am thinking of a 223 but I'm not sure if that's got enough pop? I'd like a lever action or semi auto but 223 doesn't seem to be very common in those actions.

The Akdas Alcor has my attention currently.

Any tips or suggestions are welcome!

Edit: thanks everyone for your suggestions! There's a lot of good info for me

Application / Regulation advice Worth it?

My question is about the purpose of getting a PAL. I have done quite a bit of research on how to get a PAL in Canada and I found a place near my house. I have shot many firearms in my life and I always have fun shooting. I grew up around firearms too so I am pretty comfortable around them (taught as a kid about muzzle sweeping and trigger discipline). That being said I’m still a total newb. I have also been warming up to the idea of possibly getting into hunting (although I’ve never hunted before). What is the culture and people like around gun ranges? Firearms seem so heavily regulated in Canada, I was wondering if people who have gotten their PALS find that it was worth all the effort?

Not sure what happened. I went to take it to the range last week and I noticed that this part was rattling. The 4 bolts that hold it place are gone. Can I just order the screws and put it back on or I have to bring it to a gunsmith?

Has anyone ordered from here in the past 6 months? They used to have great customer service and then apparently something happened about a year ago and they're pretty much a ghost business. I don't want to place a $500 order and have it disappear into the void.

Buy recommendations Used market near Ottawa?

My PAL/RPAL arrived last week - YAY!!!

Was thinking about picking up a used LR 22 bolt action rifle to get started...and save my $ for a shotgun and higher power rifle.

What are the good sites that I can search locally? Don't want to deal with mailed guns. Would want to drive to location, have a look at, etc.

Also, feel free to talk me out of this. Just figured there might be a few folks who have bought new and quickly moved on up.

Stamped receiver M78. In typical Finnish fashion this thing chucks brass 20+ yards.

Side note I’m currently experimenting with 7.62 Galatz magazines. Wondering if the magazine geometry on Zastava M77 magazines might also work?

$1200 for a French tickler seems pretty egregious. Are SKSs still worth it at this value or are there alternatives at better value points?

Hey, I am again having the itch to fill the gun safe abit more. Pure investment if you ask me to be fair.

As I cry seeing all my buds in the US with their ARs, I am looking at 22s. Is the TM22 the best price/quality option out there? To be fair im only going to use it for fun because ammo is dirt cheap. Any other choices I should consider?

Feel free to tell me I'm an idiot.

Cheers

Feets / Collection / My build Updated Cooey 60

Post image
30 Upvotes

Modified my ol' Cooey quite a bit since I last posted. Ended up getting a non-functioning spares rifle for $50, so now it has some official parts!

Most of the tape was replaced with some tin plating I made by cutting up a decorative wall sign and secured with self-tapping screws; the foreplate goes over the barrel to secure it in the stock otherwise the entire action rocks. The braided steel cable is mostly for show but does add grip to an otherwise mostly smooth plate. This stock is definitely sturdy now.

The McDonald's napkins are now gone as I have a magazine tube ring and proper action screw now, as well as a factory trigger guard.

Most important are the repaired sights, so it's now shootable with some semblance of consistency in accuracy instead of guessing.
