Buy recommendations Carmel barrel length
Is this really how long the IWI barrel is or atleast how it looks on the gun. This is on CRAFMs website.

At least the Mk15 uses a pic rail stock, which is honestly a pretty big plus in my opinion, as you have a huge variety available then, and can even run a buffer tube if you want to. Wider selection of stocks, and able to fold, vs the Carmel which just folds.
It does look like the Mk15 also uses standard AR handguards (uses AR barrels so I assume barrel nut and handguard are also AR compatible).
Just seems like the Mk15 offers more modularity and modifications. I believe in the US is was also advertised as caliber swappable, although I could be wrong, so a 300BO conversion or x39 seems feasible, not sure if the Carmel would be as easy to mod with all the molded parts.
Both are still sweet guns though. I'm stoked to have both coming in, but only placed an order for the Mk15 since I order it's looks and heavier barrel.

I never really understood the "this gun is ugly" crowd.
I appreciate a firearm that looks good or cool but at the same time if it's comfortable and goes bang and is legal, who cares?

With this mindset, why not just get a 10/22 and call it a day? In my experience it’s been a hell of a lot better than any tacticool 22 I’ve ever shot

Thankfully I'm not buying it for looks. I'm buying it because it is a damn good rifle with good reliability.
I don't think that image is accurate though. 2" added to the images from IWI's 16 inch barrel on the website shouldn't look THAT much longer

Wow does that look ugly. Not as bad as the CZ Brens with the 11” length handguard and an 18.6” but pretty damn close

“Careful kid, you’ll put your eye out on that barrel”. In all honesty someone needs to make a longer hand guard, the Bren 2 suffered the same aesthetic problem.

Here’s a photo of the Makasi with the 18.6” barrel. Not as bad in my opinion or funky looking. Honestly with the state of guns in this goddamn country I’m not concerned with looks and more so functionality. I was just curious as it looks kind of crazy on the website.
I think the difference is the handguard being longer on the Makasi.

Yea, the Makasi handguard is 12'' vs. 10.5'' on the Carmel.
So exposed barrel on the Makasi is 6.6'' vs. 8.1'' on the Carmel.

I don’t think it’s that long. Look at the tenda listing - it says it shows 16” variant. Adding 2.5 inches wouldn’t make it look as long as the one pictured here I don’t think?

Hard to see in OP's screenshot, but the image is originally from CRAFM's website. If you look closer at the original, higher quality image, it says "Kel-Tec CNC Inc." On the side where it should say IWI Carmel. Has to be a joke for sure, not certain if that necessarily changes the verdict on how the barrel length would look in reality though.

Other IWI products for Canada have had big silly dong barrels before too. The (formerly) NR Tavor 7 has a big ole' dingus on it too.

both CRAFM and IRG have the brake installed in their respective photos. AI was used to confirm the pixel differences in the photos (given JPGs are posted at both different resolutions and dimensions) - using a tool isn't not using your brain - it's just supplemental.

I hate to say it man, but damn near all cool guns in Canada get a ‘barrel lift’ when they’re NR. My two personal favourites for this are the P90 and the Vector. They go from this dinky little looking this to looking like a freaking broom stick. 😆
