Starting off with Carney proudly photographed with Trump in VIP booth at a sports event. Something that would cause a mini apocalypse if it was Pollievre, but instead Liberal sycophants are calling us idiots for pointing it out. And Justin Trudeau is now in France with Katy Perry on his latest tour of the world. After calling us selfish for wanting to drive to work.
Truly feels like we’ve entered some sort of joke timeline.

"After calling us selfish for wanting to drive to work."
Work the government is now forcing you to drive to because somehow climate change and traffic stops existing when governments want there peons back in offices.

Meh at least civil servants who largely vote Liberal for their jobs alone at the expense of literally everyone and everything else are getting some schaudenfraude

I think because the female officer shot a civilian
That puts a hole in the "only police should have guns because they're well trained" argument
9
u/yummybunnybear Jul 24 '26
It's only getting worse as the government relentlessly attacks our firearms community to drive ranges out of business.
21
u/Lumindan Jul 21 '26
If the shooter had a PAL, we would see that front and center as justification for banning the sks.
But the optics on the last few shootings have all been bad for the government (almost like legal firearms ownership has never been the issue).
11
u/Office_Responsible Jul 21 '26
If they had a PAL, poly would have been screaming it from day 1. Since that isn’t the case I’m assuming no.

u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jul 25 '26
If only there was something Gary could do about this. Like stop wasting billions on us and go after the gun runners on the border. Imagine how many drones the CBSA could buy and fly with all the OIC money they spent.
12
u/rastamasta45 Jul 26 '26
Gary and his fat cheeks will never fix Canada, him and provolone legit just want us to burn while they make money off the ashes.
8
u/Lumindan Jul 25 '26
Actually addressing the border at this point would be a monumental task. One that I don't think public safety actually has the gusto for.
It's easier to ply the public with getting "assault style guns off the streets".
They get paid all the same.
7
u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jul 25 '26
True. Get paid (and a little bit of corruption) then run off to America (ironic) to date celebrities. Like how Justin Trudeau did.

u/Beneficial-Ride-4475 Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
Actually addressing the border at this point would be a monumental task.
I have said this once, and I'll keep saying it, even though people seem to hate it when I do. Downvote me all you feel like, but my theory is that tackling the border is considered tricky amongst the powers that be. It's considered politically impossible, or at least nearly impossible, for all parties, regardless of who is in power.
To put maximum effort forth, the government would have to contend with three major issues.
First, to actually secure the border not only would you have to increase security at border crossings. You would also have to have internal check points, a tactical arm of border services, and a wilderness patrol unit. Fact is, the general public would be uncomfortable with a militarized border service, and it would certainly enrage the US. Squabbling over trade is one thing, heavily armed and tactically/surveillance equipped individuals on the border is another. To the increasingly paranoid US, that would be seen as provocation.
Secondly, securing the border, would involve putting more scrutiny on Canadian and American citizens at crossings. Again, not a good situation when your neighbour is paranoid.
Third, it's going to enrage law enforcement. What copper wants to be trudging around in the bush, or dealing with a family of five with snot nosed kids everyday? What individual, is going to be willing to be eaten alive by various insects and other parasites standing by some lake, waiting/watching for a potential threat that may never come? That's army stuff, cops don't sign up for that.
Speaking of the army, you could get them to do it, but you run into the same issues.
Really the border issue is one that is nearly insurmountable, not just monumental. I don't think the powers that be are prepared to make those moves.
So, cracking down on x or y guns seems more plausible, at least as far as the government is concerned. Of course, Provost is there as well, so there is certainly deliberate intent there.
10
u/InitialAd4125 Jul 26 '26
Honestly addressing the boarder is a losing game because all it does is continue trying to apply prohibitionist policy which doesn't work. All you can do is lower demand for something by addressing why people want something in the first place.
4
3
u/Office_Responsible Jul 25 '26
Honestly about the point of what cop would want to trudge around in the bush, I’m in the army and I’d love that job if I left the army. I honestly have felt like I’ve accomplished anything meaningful in my army career despite being deployed (Latvia and the UK). The most impact I felt I had was IRU for fires and floods. Helping secure our border would make me feel like I was actually doing something for Canada
5
u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jul 25 '26
It’s the age of robots. You literally have AI drones running combat missions all by themselves in Ukraine and they succeed. Just use a billion dollars to make a drone fleet and train some people to oversee it and done. As for the border crossing stuff it’s time to make a choice. It’s time Canadians woke up and realized the world isn’t sunshine and rainbows.
6
u/RydNightwish Jul 25 '26
And those drones are already made here too. So immediate economic benefit and domestic investments.
But thats too close to solving a problem. Libs cant do that.
20
u/Puzzleheaded-Tie35 Jul 30 '26
This ruling is a reason to be more optimistic about our chances at the SCC. In case anyone needed a bit of good news.
It is especially relevant for anyone who had their restricted firearm's registration Thanos-snapped.
And it's even better because it was a 9-0 decision against the current and former governments.
12
u/Lumindan Jul 31 '26
The especially damning part is that it was a unanimous ruling.
Like for reference in 2024 they only ruled unanimously 38% of the time. They had a leadership change a few years ago so there's a lot more 'voices' so it could go either way still.
Is it bad though that I read the headline and went "Which Scandal and which ethics problem?"
10
u/Reasonable_Hall2346 Jul 31 '26
It is the Liberal norm. Scandal and ethics violations overload so people lose track. When its a single fuck-up, everyone remembers. When you have fuck-up after fuck-up, people forget. Trudeau's ethics were always poor.
5
u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jul 31 '26
I still expect to lose. No way we see them reversed without a CPC government
1
u/Cre_AK47 Name Prohibited by OIC Aug 03 '26
Well the SCC wouldn't have taken on the case if they were going to agree with the Federal Courts determination/ruling. Personally I feel like we will get some W's but then the SCC will say something like "These OIC powers were illegal and FRT isn't legally enforceable, however a "stay of proceedings" will remain in effect for 12 months" so that basically gives Carney's majority gov to pass legistlation to just ban everything they already banned by OIC anyways, so we as gun owners may see no changes other than the CFP/Exceutive branch no longer being allowed to OIC shit anymore, which even if that's what comes out of the SCC case, is still a huge W.
-2
u/CryptidWorks CryptidWorks Aug 02 '26
If the CPC wants to win, they need to run a different campaign than the last three times. The failure of the buyback program and OIC overreach should basically make it like hitting a tee-ball, but nobody seems as apt as snatching defeat from the jaws of victory quite like the Conservatives.
At least they got rid of Jenni Byrne as campaign manager, but they need to get her alllllll the way out. She's like the Wormtongue of shit ideas.
2
u/Cre_AK47 Name Prohibited by OIC Aug 03 '26
Jenni was shit as a campaign manager, but the ONLY main reason LPC won was because Boomers not having to worry about much and most being well off and being the vast majority of paid-off home owners, heard that some foreign president said some mean things about Canada while they were watching CBC, with dementia kicking in full-swing forgetting about the last 10 years, just because of evil Orange man bad, and that somehow Pierre was connected to him...
1
u/CryptidWorks CryptidWorks Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
I'm going to preface this with the fact that I dislike the current government as much as anyone else here, as people seem to think I'm shitting on conservatives as a whole. I'm really not, I'm just looking at the previous few elections and pointing out what needs to change for us to not deal with more of the same.
You are absolutely correct in that the LPC appeals heavily to boomers who own houses. The conservatives, however, partly due to Byrne's guidance, made three giant mistakes:
Focusing way, way too hard directly attacking Justin Trudeau and not LPC policies. When Trudeau stepped aside, it sucked the wind out of their sails completely. He was campaigning entirely against Trudeau, not the liberal party.
Not immediately condemning the threats of tariffs and the 51st state nonsense. I suspect they were waiting for polling data to tell them if it was safe to do so in their stronghold areas, but by the time they actually did it, the damage was done.
Not repeatedly shoving the OICs and their overreach down the Liberals' throats. Their platform didn't even mention un-doing any of the liberals' bans.
It was essentially a rehash of the previous election, also managed by Byrne, which was itself just a more aggressive play of the one before it.
At a certain point, if you're at the range and consistently shooting a foot low, you need to adjust your zero. If you keep shooting and just blame the target, you're simply wasting ammo.

u/gamercast1337 Jul 28 '26
3 by-elections called ? Oh boy I can't want for the liberals to win all 3 again because their messaging is just so good and my quality of life has improved so much underneath this government!
We fucking get the government we deserve. I just hope enough liberal voters and boomers suffer when the economy collapses and not just the already struggling people lose even more.

RCMP officers ‘intentionally’ set home ablaze during tense standoff, court documents reveal
Add this one to the list. Bit of an older incident but it's finally coming to light in the courts.
12
u/GinnAdvent Jul 21 '26
It is concerning precedent if the police can just justify their action afterward since there were no harm or damage. But what if it it did?
It's the same as the shooting incident happen a month ago on in Montreal where one of the bystander was caught in the cross fire. Because it was a "dynamic and highly stressful situations"
6

Then they would have said it was an oopsie we are so sorry we didn't know smoke grenades did that, expect for the fact its common knowledge.

the only thing you can buy with a fake PAL these days is ammo and magazines. since if you actually put the number into a computer nothing will come up.

Could be a real number of a stolen one.
6
u/mwmwmwmwmmdw Jul 24 '26
it could be but you also need to know the persons email and other info for the transfer. plus when the innocent party goes to do the check the person whose pal is stolen will get an email about it and you'd hope they notice their pal got checked when they didnt buy anything.

To be fair this is just Boomers who still dickride the LPC. A lot of the lefties and commies are already jumping ship and going back to the NDP.
Just gotta wait out all of our boomer relatives until they can't vote anymore before things start getting better in Canada sadly.
7
u/Natural_Comparison21 Jul 30 '26
Looking at 338 Canada depending on the age demographic people are slowly leaving the support for the LPC at the door. It's happening slowly but it is happening. In the 18-34 age demographic the LPC went from high's of 42% recently to dropping down to 39%. The NDP have sky rocketed in the most in that time though going from 15%-20%. 35-54 it's neck and neck between the Liberals and Cons with the Cons leading at the moment by like 1%. However keep in mind that the Liberals have a good chunk of there support because there are a lot of people in this age demographic who seem to have not gone back to the NDP support. Keep in mind that in pre 2025 election the NDP were polling at like over 10% with this age demographic and now the supports plummeted. 55+ of course still give Liberals a comical amount. Only age demographic to give them a 50%+ of the voter share. I attribute this funnily enough to boomers being comically self centered as a age demographic and on top of that there support for the NDP (Yes there are those in the 55+ age demographic who support the NDP.) Going from low double digits to as low as 4% support. In general it's pretty safe to say that it is indeed the boomer demographic mixed with some early Gen X bringing the liberals support up. That and the NDP support needing to severly rebuild itself.
5
u/Lumindan Jul 30 '26
To be fair this is just Boomers who still dickride the LPC. A lot of the lefties and commies are already jumping ship and going back to the NDP.
So when it comes to polls for intent, they may vote that way. But the question is if they're willing to throw their vote again to the Liberals to keep the conservatives out.
It feels good to them to say they align with the NDP but we'll see if they stay there (huge doubt imo)
11
u/boozefiend3000 Jul 29 '26

Not only are they 100 percent winning 2029, there is a very good chance, like at least 70 percent chance they also win 2033, so 2037 is the earliest we can expect a change in government. And even that is not guaranteed. The LPC has a death hold on the Canadian electorate.

Anyone with real parliamentary/legislative knowledge have any guesses as to how the government could respond to the OICs being repealed?
I know most say they’d ram through bans via a bill, but I’d imagine that this could take much longer depending on the stipulations from the SCC
48
u/FunkyFrunkle Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26
Nobody here would have that kind of knowledge, except for maybe [u/Calibremag](u/Calibremag), who has put in an extraordinary amount of work on behalf of this community and has a more detailed knowledge of how the government works beyond that of the layman, due to his years of working in the industry and regularly interfaces with them.
However, I do like to maintain a degree of optimism. In my opinion, they could have passed legislation long before now, but haven’t. The liberals were only ever a handful of seats away from a majority before they got it, and it wouldn’t have been much trouble to scrape together a handful of votes to pass gun control legislation. It didn’t really move the needle a considerable amount for us I think.
My own speculation is based on what I’ve seen, not so much on what they say. I’m going to list out a few things I’ve noticed, and you can judge for yourself if where I’m going makes sense.
These are in no particular order.
Firstly, Although Carney mentioned that they would “reinvigorate” the buyback, he has pretty much sidestepped it ever since, even outright skimming past it when asked about what they plan to do about violent crime. Instead talking about border security and bail reform. When asked about the SKS, he again passed the buck onto the RCMP and remained non-committal about it. To me, this looks like he’s trying to establish distance between himself and the program. He hasn’t shown much enthusiasm for this program unlike Trudeau, who mentioned it as a core strategy every chance he got.
Does this mean he’s gearing up to abandon it? I would give it a soft no. This seems more like he’s preparing for this program to fall to pieces, but you never know.
Second, the program itself still faces massive provincial opposition as well as opposition from a litany of police forces. It’s only a handful of jurisdictions scattered across the country that have collection points up and running. Logistics and financials are still huge issues, and legislation wouldn’t do anything to fix this. All legislation would do is cement the headache.
Third, the government largely has no idea who has what when it comes to non-restricted guns which goes a considerable distance in making this unenforceable in any practical way. In addition, our justice and corrections systems are not equipped or designed to handle a massive, potential influx of cases which is why I think some of the provinces got involved with the SCC case. Their Attorney Generals are likely very aware of the ramifications this policy could have on their provincial courts and likely don’t want it to happen.
Fourth, every time MP Provost appeared on camera to speak for the program since she became MP, she seems barely composed. I would go as far to say she looks stressed out. Frantic. Her body language proves this with the self-soothing gestures.
I would have to imagine that an MP who is not only a Secretary of State, but the most prominent figure of Canadian gun control would almost certainly be involved or at the very least have more intimate knowledge of the minutiae of this policy behind all the closed doors. From what I’ve seen, she does not come across as having all the confidence in the world that this program is going to cross the finish line and this was apparent enough when she was practically pleading with gun owners to rat out their friends and family.
Five. The whole thing is headed to the Supreme Court which despite the cynicism of the doomers here, this whole thing stands a very real chance of falling apart for the government. Carney mentioned that they were going to “wait” and see what the court decision is so they can “see what we can do within the confines of the law”, or something to that effect.
Six, Public Safety was one of the hardest hit ministries with cuts. A bunch of people got laid off, and the biggest driver for recent hiring within public safety is the gun ban. Do with this information as you will.
Finally, the seventh point. Our current economic climate is not conducive to spending untold fortunes of taxpayer money on a gun ban. At some point someone is going to have to recognize this and I think they already have. As mentioned in point 5, they laid off a bunch of people within public safety.
So all in all, I think the government would likely back away from this for a bit, but I would expect them to try again in a more subtle approach once things have cooled off. The problem with this program is not enough time was spent actually researching the feasibility of banning this many guns. Instead they went all in on the glamour and glitz of announcing bans while doing the heavy lifting on the fly.
21
u/New-Replacement-2352 Jul 20 '26
It’s crazy how much this is mirroring the long gun registration. Extremely expensive, low compliance rate and no way to enforce it. It’s gonna die a long slow death too. You think they would have learned a lesson or two from the LGR but I guess not, smh.
If registering millions of guns was too hard for them, where did they get the idea that stealing millions of gun away from people was a good idea. These people are profoundly stupid, don’t forget that.
17
u/Lumindan Jul 20 '26
You think they would have learned a lesson or two from the LGR
They did learn a lesson. You can burn billions with zero consequences.
These people are profoundly stupid, don’t forget that.
Do not mistake malice for stupidity. They're pushing this stuff for a reason. No one there actually cares about public safety but they have an agenda and it's been made clear (especially with the leaks)
5
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Jul 21 '26
Only positive revelation from the ministers hot mic moment is that they are only doing this to keep Quebec ridings locked down for the party - and to align with their principles of being a party that follows through.
That being said, I say this is positive because it’s become clear that backing poly and continuing with the bans has very little political value right now; specifically, gun control is being overshadowed by the LPC’s bad environmental policy, exacerbated by the wildfires, as well as ongoing US-Canada relations continuing to sour.
In other words, many Canadians couldn’t give a rats behind about guns when our forests are burning and costs of living continue to rise. Full stop.
To add to this, Carneys reelection chances and approval ratings rest on how he handles the US-Canada situation going forward - or at least to a much greater degree. This will be a much greater focus going forward.
1
u/Office_Responsible Jul 20 '26
What leaks are you talking about?
4
u/Lumindan Jul 20 '26
The leak of our public safety minister.
Gary's little oopsie just confirmed what we all knew.
2
3
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Jul 21 '26
I think it will go the same way. I also think the AR-15 will continue its turbulent history and be flipped back to restricted. If you read up on this, it narrowly escaped prohibition via OIC as it was determined to have legitimate sporting purposes. Then it flipped to non restricted briefly before going back to restricted
10
u/EnvironmentBright697 Jul 20 '26
Calibremag had mentioned on X that he’s heard from someone in public safety that they are working on legislation.
13
u/Lumindan Jul 20 '26
We all knew this was coming.
SCC rules in our favor? They'll push a new bill.
SCC rules against us? They'll push a new bill.
Don't you love majority governments?
6
u/Office_Responsible Jul 20 '26
How I see it is that regardless of the SCC ruling we will get fucked by legislation that makes the OICs look tame. Polys poster girl didn’t get added to parliament for nothing. Personally I’m waiting for the hammer to drop. In the mean time I will continue to shoot what I have and maybe pick up some more. Nothing else we can do.
3
u/Lumindan Jul 20 '26
Pretty much. Just keep hanging on, get more people to get their PALs, keep supporting local businesses etc.
It's a long battle.
9
u/Office_Responsible Jul 20 '26
More people with their PALs is great but ultimately I don’t think it matters. The LPC has an agenda to push, the number of PAL holders is irrelevant to that especially with a majority government. Also my LGS is really struggling and people just aren’t buying guns like they used to (according to them), plus most of what we have now is shit (my opinion). Gone are the days of my sub-1k AR-15.
9
u/FunkyFrunkle Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26
They’ve been saying that for a while to be fair. In fact, that was the plan going as far back as 2020 but nothing much has been said about it lately. They’ve been on summer recess so we’ll see what happens in the fall.
16
u/CalibreMag Jul 20 '26
I'll have more to say on this soon... just need to get all my t's crossed, and i's dotted.
But I can say it's unlikely we hear much, if anything, on the gun file this fall.
5
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Jul 21 '26
Working on drafting legislation doesn’t necessarily mean it makes it to become a bill to eventually become law. It’s possible it’ll take so long there’s another election by then.
Only my opinion, but if they can’t articulate how new legislation will serve to correctly amend or reform C21 in a meaningful way, it may not make it through the House of Commons.
Sure, they have a majority, but again it could still result in mass non-compliance or result in liberal MPs abstaining due to how unpopular the bill is.

Hope isn’t a bad thing, it’s managing expectations that’s hard. Things aren’t always going to turn out 100% right for us, and things aren’t always going to turn out 100% right for them either.
What keeps me going is the sheer difficulty and opposition this program faces. It’s been in the oven for six years, seven by the time the SCC renders its decision.
This isn’t a program that’s going well, this isn’t a program that has a positive consensus around the country.
12
u/JTrudeausLeftNut Jul 20 '26
From a legal perspective, the argument is that the legislation is ultra vires vis a vis the Firearms Act. Essentially, the CCFR is saying that the federal government enacted a GIC/regulation that Parliament didnt give it the authority to do. Alternatively, they are also arguing that there was an infringement on charter rights (not up to date on the argument, assuming vagueness?)
Assuming CCFR win, the options are:
Reformulate the regulation to comply with the Firearms Act and the Charter
Let the regulation die and do nothing.
Change the Firearms Act to allow them to do what they want.
Each option has a political cost and could take some time. Additionally, the SCC can "delay" its ruling to give the Government time to address the issue (e.g. new legislation).

It really depends on what the Supreme Court tells the government.
1: They could tell them to fully scrap it, then the ban ends immediately as the OIC bans were never legal.
2: SCC could also say the OIC bans were illegal but then issue a stay of proceedings, giving the government 12 months to pass legislation to continue the ban, with the OIC still remaining in effect until the 12 month legislation stipulation.
3: Lastly they could to get this tell us to get fucked but in a different way than what the federal court of appeal ruled...
I'm thinking #2 is most likely what's going to happen. There's bound to be some anti-gun judicial activists who reside on the Supreme Court, who also suck up to the Liberals/Laurentian Elite whenever they can even if this would set a very dangerous precedent of giving the executive branch criminal law power as long as Parliament designates it in law...

They have already destroyed a bunch of guns in BC and are actively collecting in ON. The two highest prohib count provinces by raw count. There is no turning back I'm afraid
7
u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Jul 21 '26
I’m not so sure. There’s no turning back for sure with respect to any firearms declared and already turned in. That said, the likely positive SCC decision could result in a pause on any further bans and would most would be weary of turning their guns in at that point.
What I’d like to know is: what REALLY happens if the SCC reverses the OICs?
I really don’t think the fed response will be the swift and definitive parliamentary reversal many think. It’s more likely something slower or flaccid IMO. Making large changes would require time and they already caught considerable flak for rushing things like they have since carney was elected

u/boozefiend3000 Jul 20 '26
Unfortunately you live in Canada my guy. Bad news is all we get
8
u/RydNightwish Jul 20 '26
Yeah, but all those compounding bad news and missed goals simply mean we are sticking it to trump!
Somehow...
15
u/Lumindan Jul 20 '26
It's gonna be quiet until the SCC stuff drops.
Liberals won't risk rocking the boat with the decision in the air. House is on vacation so we won't see much.
Polling is positive for them so they don't need to beat the usual dead horse to drum up a good news cycle (plus the last two major shootings tragedies have had bad optics).
7
u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jul 21 '26
Why are they on vacation 90% of the year. No wonder why nothing gets done in this country

I can’t wait for when Gary and his fat cheeks clog our court systems like he clogs his arteries with 800,000 plus law abiding Canadians with a moronic gun grab….good times ahead!!
9
u/Natural_Comparison21 Jul 29 '26
Pretty sure that's why three fucking provinces Ontario, Alberta and Sask have applied for leave. Because having to deal with the even theoretical level of arrests for non compliance would put a massive burden on the legal system. Which it should say something when literally the biggest province in Canada and numbers 4 and 6 making up 53.03% of Canada's population are saying "Stop straining our already strained legal system."
9
u/I-LOVE-HENRY-RIFLES Jul 28 '26
You should see this one. Gary is failing so badly at his job

Anyways, a simple google search reveals you’re generally not able to carry a knife as a gym goer.
Kind of a silly assertion in your post I think. I get what you’re trying to say but we’re turning into the UK anyways and it’s not because people are demanding 1 set of standards apply to everyone and not letting minorities have more rights than the rest of us, which is ironically also a feature of the UK

Its also not illegal for me to walk around with my unloaded non-restricted firearm. But I guarantee you its will cause me legal problems.
5
u/WeightedDips95 Jul 21 '26
I always assumed the legality was based on context and reason. Like you can legally always carry a knife for some sort of “utility”, but what utility could you argue for having one in a gym.
In any case, thankfully the conversation isn’t about whether or not it should be legal, even in places devoid of rational thought like r/canada. People just want to have the same standard applied to everyone. People also find the character in question deeply distasteful. I just don’t think we need to ignore the obvious here thinking it will somehow help us achieve open carry of handguns or something, cause it won’t.
3
u/WeightedDips95 Jul 21 '26
Is it legal to openly care a knife at the gym?
3
u/Late_Winner6859 Jul 23 '26
Just googled it.. honestly don’t understand why this was an issue at all. Of all places, gym is filled with a lot of heavy throwable stuff. A small knife is probably the last thing to worry about in such environment

Don’t you need a plausible purpose to be carrying a knife though? I have trouble believing I wouldn’t get into trouble if I openly carried a knife into a gym. I think what we all want is for people to at the very least be treated the same and not have a two tiered legal system

PSA 570 is releasing this week, how would bringing one of these in work? Just let IRG handle it?

I thought it was being able to build it up like an AR, iirc the had a semi-auto version with good parts compatibility
1
u/Q-Ball7 In the end, it's taxes all the way down Jul 31 '26
Perhaps, but that's not really the most interesting thing about it (though considering how awful it is to try and find parts for Mossberg guns in particular a commitment to parts availability is significant).
See, Remington and Mossberg haven't modernized their shotgun designs in over 60 years, and as such aren't very good at the usecases where you're not pointing the shotgun up in the air at aerial targets.
So PSA did it for them- stuff like having a rear sight, a loading port that's cut large enough to load 2 shells at the same time (and a trigger guard and lifter that are tapered enough to allow for that), an action release that isn't in a stupid place- all things that benefit competition, casual, and defensive applications.
Yes, Benelli has done some of those things with the Nova, but your options for adjustability on that gun are very limited- specifically length of pull, which is generally too long on shotguns. The 570 actually has everything you need to build out a proper shotgun.
It's not transformative- mechanically it's no different than a 590 is now- but it is definitely an improvement.

These nincompoops could use the buyback money to hire some more personnel in the caf so my application wouldn't take Soo long, like holy shit guys, the amount of time, information and bullshit I'm having to go through I'm thinking I'm not gonna join anymore, all this to die for Israel, no thanks youd think with all the caf shortages they'd make the hiring process easier and faster PS-- IF U THINK getting a pal is a long process apply to the caf
15
u/Natural_Comparison21 Jul 27 '26
I have heard some really funny stories on how long it's taken for people to apply to the CAF. Anywhere from 6 months at the short end to like sometimes only getting a offer 2 years later or other ridiculous time frames. Which by that point people have moved on with life.
7
u/IAMURBUNKLE Jul 27 '26
I shudder to think about the quality of the CAF after they’ve relaxed every single standard they had to boost numbers.
8
u/Natural_Comparison21 Jul 27 '26
Which is hilarious as that’s not what even the issue was. The issue was getting through a massive backlog. Which they only made worse by relaxing requirements.

u/boozefiend3000 Jul 27 '26
Don’t be risking your life for this place man. Not worth it at all

Canada is worth dying for. The Canadian government is not
21
u/IAMURBUNKLE Jul 27 '26
Go to a Remembrance Day ceremony this year, see how many people actually attend. Don’t waste your life for a country that will just replace you
8
u/InitialAd4125 Jul 28 '26
Honestly it doesn't help that one of the original purposes of remembrance day has kind of failed i.e encourage no more wars to happen. That and a lot of the wars we're remembering are kind of questionable morally. Because frankly if you look at Canada the nation many of the wars we've chosen to get involved with are probably ones we shouldn't have. Like besides World War 2 can anyone seriously and easily defend Canada the nation states participation in it. Like Canadian citizens have fought in wars that might be morally reasonable say fighting against the fascists in the Spanish civil war but considering how the government of Canada treated those people after the fact makes you think.
17
u/boozefiend3000 Jul 27 '26
What’s worth dying about this place? The people vote the government in. They’re just as much at fault

What do you mean?? You don’t like Carney’s approval rating going up every time he lies to us, we just found out we got scammed on the Gordie Howe bridge and he lied.
You don’t like that Louri Idlout has another scandal regarding insider dealing with companies and it’s totally forgiven since she crossed the floor?
You don’t like that our economy is tanking harder and the boomers who’s retirement pensions are vested in the NYSX are all for “sacrifices to fight Trump” while us younger folk have nothing left to sacrifice?!!?!
I don’t know about you, but I’m planning to vote harder for Christ, I mean carney and put my elbows up even more. Remember PP is worse.

What would be the deal with the registration nullifications if the court case is a win? I’ve got 350 5.56 rounds I’ve gotta burn through before they possibly re-ban everything

u/Due-Candidate4384 Aug 03 '26
What are the chances we ever get new production Type 81s again in the event of ban reversal?
2
u/2Puppers4Sale Boating Enthusiast Aug 03 '26
Norinco already shut down production before the bans I believe. IIRC, Tactical Imports had their last batch of Type 81s before the ban and said that the factory was ending production of the Type 81.

u/Cre_AK47 Name Prohibited by OIC Aug 03 '26
How come there is not ONE single Canadian manufacturer that will make a proprietary "AK" receivers? I get ARs have been around in Canada longer since they NARROWLY escaped prohibition in 1995, so the AR market was able to grow for 25 years before becoming prohib in 2020, but still, AKs are still a VERY popular rifle all around the world and there is a market for 7.62 x 39 rifles if the SKS and Type 81 (and previous VZ rifles) were any indication of that.
Why doesn't Crusader (Junk) Arms move ahead with creating a proprietary AK receivers/rifles? Can self-certify that it's NR until Poly tells the CFP to prohibit via FRT, but I mean, that means we can have 6-12 months of getting AKs in the market just like CA did with the Crypto, then after prohibition, double down and make a modified AK pattern rifle that's like the Backland Hunter (malicious compliance)...

u/MomReturnedMe Jul 31 '26
Has anyone else received an email from the Compensation Program? I received one asking if I agree with the disposal of my AR, but I noticed the compensation amount dropped from $1,200 to $550, which is a drastic reduction.
The email also states that everyone has until October 30, 2026, to dispose of their firearms.

Gotta love how how Carney was elected on being a master negotiator and crisis man and 1.5 years has nothing to show for it and we’re getting ground into dust. Judging by his supporters discourse on Reddit and X, they’re in a negative feedback loop where the worse he does and the more tarrifs we get the more they’re convinced he is a god. It even seems like they’re willing to nuke our economy over this. Pretty scary shit. We’re in a mass psychosis
