Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

PSA 570 is releasing this week, how would bringing one of these in work? Just let IRG handle it?

I thought it was being able to build it up like an AR, iirc the had a semi-auto version with good parts compatibility

Perhaps, but that's not really the most interesting thing about it (though considering how awful it is to try and find parts for Mossberg guns in particular a commitment to parts availability is significant).

See, Remington and Mossberg haven't modernized their shotgun designs in over 60 years, and as such aren't very good at the usecases where you're not pointing the shotgun up in the air at aerial targets.

So PSA did it for them- stuff like having a rear sight, a loading port that's cut large enough to load 2 shells at the same time (and a trigger guard and lifter that are tapered enough to allow for that), an action release that isn't in a stupid place- all things that benefit competition, casual, and defensive applications.

Yes, Benelli has done some of those things with the Nova, but your options for adjustability on that gun are very limited- specifically length of pull, which is generally too long on shotguns. The 570 actually has everything you need to build out a proper shotgun.

It's not transformative- mechanically it's no different than a 590 is now- but it is definitely an improvement.
