Misc Adler RF-224 "gen 2"

Just saw these at the big show. I guess the RF-224 with the extended mag release that have been around are like a MK1.5, because the gen2 has some other quite notable differences. The extended mag release is there, but they also plugged the top screw hole for the foreend and switched to what appears to be a takedown twist knob on the side. Really weird! Also, no more crazy glued buffer tube, as it has a 1913 adapter built on the back, and it comes with a fixed, more minimalist stock. I'd be interested to know if they made any internal changes. I find the RF-224 ejector placement makes bolt removal and reinstall somehow even more annoying than a stock 10/22.

Never seen anything like this. Sent them a email inquiring. Only noticed it after my bolt wouldn't close while reloading yesterday. Not sure how this passed by QC.

Misc Is this kind of "Fake" B&T ACP9 PCC possible?

So out of ALL the banned guns, APC9 kind of gun is the one that I sorely miss. I really like its telescoping stock and grip.

So here is my cope plan.. $$$ no object.

Acquire :

  1. Henry Homesteader
  2. Nuemann Metalwork Pistol Grip and 1913 stock adapter (https://www.nmworks.ca/product-page/homesteader-pistol-grip-adapter). This is important because Tommy Enterprises's adapter does not support Beavertail grips that B&T grips are.
  3. B&T Original handgrip or B&T Zwolf grip. For B&T Original you might need to drill a hole but Zwolf should fit directly as it is aimed for AR style platforms (https://axarms.com/product/bt-bt-zwolf-grip-new-for-apc9-spc9-ghm9-apc300-apc223-etc-bt-zwolfgrip/).
  4. Acquire A3 industries modular telescoping stock (https://a3industries.com/modular-telescoping-stock-universal-picatinny-1913-mount/).
  5. Acquire handguard with rails/m-lok for completing the picture (Tommy or Midwest might do the trick).
  6. Replace wooden butt and furniture with these. mount telescopic stock. mount handguard etc.

Should be a 27-29 inch OAL gun with stock in smallest position.

(Update from previous post)

Was deciding between a coey model 60 rusted out with a cracked stock or a norinco. I opted for the coey and after plenty of elbow grease she is in fine working condition. Barely any rust now with a few more spots to touch up (I kept the ball on the bult rusty for aesthetic) and It was an absolutely blast to shoot over the weekend. Best $125 I've spent in a long while!

22LR Savage A22 in a Boyd's At One stock. I host a few family range days every year and wanted something that was adjustable so that new shooters could get comfortable behind a scope and not be subjected to my fit on a rifle.

I've just installed a Weaver 605 rail so that we can get the scope a little further back. I've put my spare 3-9x32 AO scope on it and I think it looks low and lean. Not bad.

(BTW, it's made in Ontario. Let's support Canadian companies, guys and gals.)

Misc Will Henry Homesteader without a stock be considered a errrr... "handgun"?

So apparently, Henry Homesteader with just Nuemann Metalworks adapter and a pistol grip is very much a functional gun, sans butt-stock. It is even of NR length (27+ inches). It only misses a butt stock.

If we keep it in that configuration, will it be legal?

Picture is not mine. It belongs to /u/HappyCan7250

The only issue I see is objection is that argument can be made that since it is missing a butt stock, it has been altered to fire with one hand, ergo it is a handgun and no longer a rifle. Similar to how Taurus Judge Home Defender is considered as a handgun. This is ofcourse hypothetical argument.

Any one has insights in this?

PS: Picture is not mine. I took it from this thread : https://www.reddit.com/r/canadaguns/comments/1v52y56/neumann_metalworks_homesteader_furniture/

If original owner of pic objects, I will remove it.

Misc future of tuf-22 magazines?

So based on some threads here and CGN, pretty much the last shipment of the HC3R tuf-22 magazines has come and gone.

Combining that with Dlask officially closed, are there any plans for another company to make something similar? Realistically, couldn't someone just make new shells for bx-15/25 magazines that have the same notch?

Otherwise as of right now the only other option is u/SpectreBallistics's 597 adapter and their receivers come cut for Tuf-22 magazines.

Misc Waiting 7 months for PAL

I took the course and passed my test with 98% back in early September last year and immediately submitted my application, it was quickly marked as "completed initial review" (within a few days) and then it has just sat like that ever since. It has been 208 days as of today. I have called multiple times and the person on the phone simply tells me "we don't know anything either, they keep us in the dark too, call again in 4 weeks I guess" but before that it was "it's on the CFO's desk" ??? Rinse and repeat for the last 7 months.

My application was complete, I had one issue in my earlier years where I had to physically defend myself from an abusive partner with a cooking pot- but it was literally just one hit to get him off of me and I ran out. Otherwise I have never had any issues. I feel like if this was the cause, they've had a long time to interview me about it?

I am beginning to feel a bit ignored by them despite my calls it's like no one works there. It cannot possibly take this long to decide yes or no. I just want to go hunting. Is this normal??

Misc TM22 10rd Mag Capacity

Is it normal for the 10rd mags to hold 11 rounds? I was spacing out while loading and realized I had loaded 22 rounds in my two 10rd mags. Are anyone else’s magazines like this? I didn’t have to use any noticeable extra force or anything. I’ve always usually loaded only 10 and only realized tonight.

Misc Crusader Arms Backland Hunter Comp - Crusader getting better?

I saw someone posted the other day that they bought the new Comp model. I frankly love the look of it, minus the M4 style buffer tube. Not much info on the rifle as it just hit the shelves this week.

Decided to order one from Bullseye to play around with while waiting for the Mk15 to show up.

I have heard all the horror stories on Crusader, and ghosting guys and bad support, issues with the rifles.

I am hoping maybe they have gotten their act together and am willing to be a guinea pig on it.

I was pleasantly surprised to get an extremely fast email response from them. I emailed them yesterday evening asking about parts compatibility, and received a reply first thing this morning, on a holiday too. I was impressed by the speed. I had inquired about parts compatibility with the "shall not be named" other platform. They said the barrels, gas block, handguard, grip, bolt (not BCG), trigger, and i believe dust cover are all compatible. I was pleasantly surprised as there should be lots of possible upgrades available then.

Honestly, I really hope this is a sign they've turned the page on the new model. While they've clearly screwed customers in the past, I gave to credit them for trying to get us modern sporting and hunting rifles to Canadians. My first impression of their customer support was great, far better than the horror stories of the past.

Wish me luck with it. I took the chance and will be the next guinea pig for anyone looking at one. I still plan on getting a Mk15 as well, but this will be fun to play with in the time being.

Misc A map for hunting in crown land (Ontario only atm)

Hi,

I was asking r/ontariocamping how to find crown land to camp and ended up building a free map from all the feedback. One comment stuck with me: crown land is a working landscape, and you should know what else is going on — forestry, and hunting seasons by WMU.

So I added hunting. It shows crown land where hunting is an authorized use, WMU boundaries, and posted signs where I have them.

https://www.crownaccess.ca/map?activity=hunting

let me know your thoughts, before the hunting season starts so I can improve

feel free to turn on private land, WMU, etc.

Misc Internal Mags vs Detachable Mags, What's your preference and why?

Just a thought that crossed my mind while the work day comes to any end. Do you prefer internal mags or detachable mags and why?

I've always preferred detachable mags as they make it easy to unload a gun and deal with malfunctions as you got a whole new opening to tackle the issue with.

But there's a lot of guns with internal magazines and magazine tubes. I guess they are lighter and you don't have something protruding out the rifle to snag on a branch, strap or sling. But I don't actually know what the advantages or personal preferences are for them.

Misc Help me make sense of this: If a Crypto is an AR variant, then Crypto upper ought to be prohibited as well, right? ...seeing as AR uppers were prohibited way back in 2020('21?)

What the title says:
If a Crypto is an AR variant, then Crypto upper ought to be prohibited as well, right? ...seeing as AR uppers were prohibited way back in 2020('21?)

Then how come this is on gunpost? No shade. I just want to know if my interpretation is right.

Thanks for the time.

Misc Is anyone working on an alternative MK-15 handguard?

I think the handguard looks a bit ugly, but that’s just me personally. I was wondering, as the title said, is anyone working on a MK-15 Handguard, preferably FAL, M16 style? From my understanding the handguard is proprietary sadly.
It would be awesome if someone could whip up a handguard for us, if they haven’t already started. TNA maybe?

Thanks.
