Misc Could a Winchester SXP and 2 royal star rifled slugs, stop a polar bear?
Winchester SXP black shadow and royal slugs 2 3/4 inch.

I mean… a pointy stick can technically stop an elephant. It’s less about the tool and more so about how it’s used.
The short answer to your question is “yes.”
The longer answer includes phrases like “practice with the gun/ammo combination”, “within reasonable ranges”, and my personal favourite “it’s more about shot placement than it is about how big of a gun you use.”

Stop is an interesting word choice.
They'll certainly kill it. Bears aren't wearing kevlar vests or ceramic plates. Put holes in their vitals and they'll die like anything else.
If you want to "stop" a critter, you gotta destroy it's brain or spinal column. Slugs are plenty for that, but the aim is up to you.
Practice a lot. Get legitimately good.

If you have the budget I'd personally go after a 375 or other big bore "Alaskan" rifle. But to answer your question, yes, it could but it requires you to do your part. Regardless of gun, practice is a necessity.

The real question is why would anyone own an SXP when the mossberg 500 and Remington 870 exist, unless you have freakishly large hands

Do you own an sxp?
I had a black shadow, it was nice and fast when I was focused. I even outshot my boss on the trap range with his fancy Benelli.
That said, it can be fussy about picking up shells with short brass and because of the way it kicks back the slide if you rush it's easy to short stroke and misfeed. On a range or with ducks that's no issue but not something I'd want to change with polar bears.
If you're experienced with it and buy good high brass 3" shells and practice under challenging situations maybe, but I'd recommend getting a short turkey barrel to help.

Shot placement and better hope you don’t panic while it’s charging at ya and you get a jam at the worse time possible!
