Feets / Collection / My build 4 Months since PAL

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hey there, new shooter just getting into things and having a lot of fun. Here is my collection:

  1. Ruger 10/22 with Viridian Eon 3-9x40

  2. Beretta 1301 in 12g

  3. Bergera B-14 Sierra in 30.06

  4. Tikka T3x Lite in 308 (unfired)

I know I have a lot to learn but I have been enjoying my time at the range. Moving the Ruger's scope to the Bergera and I will get a proper scope for it when the time comes. The Tikka Lite I am thinking of selling to get a CTR but the store was out when I got there.

Feets / Collection / My build The CAR-15 at home is now done

I did have the top charging handle, but let's say it did not survive in one piece. I'll have a video on that soon. But the CAR-15(ish) looks better with the short barrel compared to the original feather.

Also the MadDog M733/M723 airsoft stock fits on the tube perfectly, so its still fully adjustable.

Just thought it was neat to see side by side. The bullpup reminds me of a star wars prop or something. As soon as I saw it I wanted one.

Misc Butler creek featherlight minimalist material?

Really like the hyperlight material they use for the shoulder strap on this sling. Anybody know what the material is actually called? I’d love to source some for a project.

Meet up Am I crazy

How batshit crazy would I be if I posted on Reddit asking to borrow someone’s Sks to take shooting for my birthday

I tried posting asking for people with different guns to come shooting with me and I’d pay for ammo but to no avail.

I had 1 prospect but they ghosted me after I tried to lock in plans.

Application / Regulation advice Anyone still waiting for handgun transfer approvals for USA imports since July?

Is anyone still waiting for handgun transfer approvals for USA imports since July? Specifically referring to Olympic exemption 22LR letters already submitted for IRG orders.

Has anyone heard what is going on or the reason for the delays? The usual transfer approval timeline should be 2-3 weeks max once the letter is submitted to the RCMP. Without the transfer approval nothing can be imported or shipped. It usually takes 2 weeks for the approval and another 1 week to get the registration certificate mailed. For some it has been almost 2 months.

Fix my gun Bulldog Lightning Express 6" Barrel .44 Russian - Need Help

American Bulldog Lightning Express 6" Barrel** couldnt change title

I got my first antique handgun today, the trigger is strong, cylinder is good and tight, and everything seems good except half and full cock don't hold. Double action works though. I am a bit concerned as to what this may require to fix.

If I end up needing a new sear or something instead of gunsmith doing a fixing not requiring parts, can I get them from other Bulldogs or does it have to be the 6" barrel versions? They are considerably rarer and I am really hoping I didn't get myself into a situation. I looked at Numrich and they didn't have much of anything for mine. It's in .44 Russian.

Gun and gear reviews Fox operator taipan x accesories

Seriously considering ordering the fox operator buffer tube and a Magpul prs lite stock for the taipan x. I’d like the Magwell kit too but seems over priced for what it is. Does anybody have either of these on theirs they are willing to share a photo and your experience/review. It’s too bad there is nowhere in Canada that stocks some of their stuff!

Fix my gun How do I get this MF grip off ?

Ad500 tac in 308, I have the stock off the buffer tube, roll pin out of the grip but it's still stuck. Is there something internal holding it to the receiver ? Also has anyone replaced the grip yet? I need a better option

Buy recommendations Chiappa 1887 lever action shotgun - Fast load

Just wondering if anyone owns this gun and has any insight on how well it works? I'm a huge lever action guy, but I also hunt Waterfowl so I was thinking of picking up the 2 shell - fast load option for this season. I'm aware it's far less practical than my over/under, but I still feel a pull towards this shotgun. Most of the stuff I've seen online is from different brands, so I figured I'd ask here.

I'm deciding between this or a Henry homesteader, for another range gun.

Any feedback on how well it feeds and performs would be appreciated!

Shooting Official SKS Sight-in Guidelines for Soviet and Yugoslavian Armourers

Thumbnail
gallery
95 Upvotes

I believe it has been discussed many times on CGN forum but I've found these documents really useful, especially with the surge of SKS purchases and new SKS owners joining the gang there might be people asking what to do with their SKS carbines that shoot 10 feet high and 20 feet to the left (lol)

These are the official sight-in guidelines for Soviet and Yugoslavian armourers. Too bad I haven't been able to find the Chinese version but I'm pretty sure they are almost identical to each other.

Both guidelines require that you use the BATTLE SIGHT (III or 3), then shoot 4 rounds from a rested position at 100m, and aim at the CENTER of the BOTTOM EDGE of a black target.

The Soviet manual requires a black rectangular target (35cm x 25cm) attached to a white backboard (100cm x 50cm), while the Yugo instruction only requires a 25cm x 20cm black rectangular target attached to a white backboard of the same size.

After shooting 4 rounds, you gotta check your grouping. At least 3 rounds should fit within a 15cm circle. This makes sure your SKS has the Minute-of-Capitalist accuracy (5 MOA at 100m) to begin with.

Then, locate the center of your 4 hits by pairing 4 random bullet holes with 2 straight lines, connecting the 1/2 centres of the 2 lines with a 3rd straight line. The center point of the 3rd line is now the center of your hits.

Now, compare the centre of your actual hits to the theoretical point of impact, which should be exactly 25cm right above the point of aim. If the deviation of your actual impact vs the theoretical point of impact is less than 5cm, DO NOTHING. You're all set.

If the deviation is greater than 5cm, you will need to adjust your front sight post. Say if it shoots to the left, then you push the sight post to the LEFT. If it shoots high, you turn the sight post UPWARD.

For Russian and Chinese SKS:

Each full turn of the sight post changes the elevation by 16cm at 100m. Moving the sight post horizontally by 1mm changes the windage by 21cm at 100m.

For Yugoslavian M59/66:

The elevation adjustment ratio is 1 turn = 16.5cm at 100m, while windage is 1mm = 22cm at 100m.

Hope this helps, comrades.

Misc Is this kind of "Fake" B&T ACP9 PCC possible?

So out of ALL the banned guns, APC9 kind of gun is the one that I sorely miss. I really like its telescoping stock and grip.

So here is my cope plan.. $$$ no object.

Acquire :

  1. Henry Homesteader
  2. Nuemann Metalwork Pistol Grip and 1913 stock adapter (https://www.nmworks.ca/product-page/homesteader-pistol-grip-adapter). This is important because Tommy Enterprises's adapter does not support Beavertail grips that B&T grips are.
  3. B&T Original handgrip or B&T Zwolf grip. For B&T Original you might need to drill a hole but Zwolf should fit directly as it is aimed for AR style platforms (https://axarms.com/product/bt-bt-zwolf-grip-new-for-apc9-spc9-ghm9-apc300-apc223-etc-bt-zwolfgrip/).
  4. Acquire A3 industries modular telescoping stock (https://a3industries.com/modular-telescoping-stock-universal-picatinny-1913-mount/).
  5. Acquire handguard with rails/m-lok for completing the picture (Tommy or Midwest might do the trick).
  6. Replace wooden butt and furniture with these. mount telescopic stock. mount handguard etc.

Should be a 27-29 inch OAL gun with stock in smallest position.

Buy recommendations MRA Maverick 308 20”for targets and hunting??

Hey guys. Slowly building up the collection here and looking for some opinions.

Just to recap, I have a .303 British and a .410 that I inherited from my grandfather. Both work like a charm. No scope on the .303, but I absolutely love shooting the thing. The bolt action is ridiculously satisfying and it’s surprisingly accurate for an old rifle with irons.
I just picked up a Ruger 10/22 for some scoped shooting and partridge hunting in the winter, alongside the .410.

Technically, I could also hunt moose with the .303 since my grandfather used it for moose and black bear back in the day.
Now I’m looking for something a little more tacticool that I can also justify as a hunting rifle — preferably something I could use for moose if we ever actually manage to draw a tag in our WMU…
So I’m looking at the MRA Maverick .308 with the 20” barrel…
Would you guys actually consider the Maverick a legitimate hunting rifle that also happens to scratch the tacticool itch, or am I just finding an excuse to justify a $2K gun? 😂
For anyone who maybe hunts with one, what does your setup look like? Scope, stock, barrel, etc.
Trying to figure out if this is a “good practical option” or a “Screw it, I just want one”🫣

Buy recommendations Bolt action .22lr on a budget?

I'm a (nearly) broke university student, but I would like to start shooting more frequently and seriously. I'm looking for a bolt action .22lr to mount a scope on and spend some good time practicing with. I'd love to pick up a CZ 457, Tikka T1X, Anschutz, Bergara, etc. but that kind of defeats the purpose of a budget rifle. I might as well just buy bucket loads of centerfire ammo and practice with that.

I'm looking for something under $400, bolt action, .22lr, able to mount a scope without drilling and tapping, and at least passably accurate.

I'm not shy of buying used guns either, most of mine were purchased used. I would love to hear stories of your old Cooeys, Lakefields, Winchesters, Mossbergs, CILs, TOZs etc. that perform above expectation.

Or maybe newer rifles like a Savage mkII, Norinco, or one of the miscellaneous Turkish models would be a better option?

I'm interested to hear your advice and experiences!
