Is that factoring in the conversion from CAD to USD? Nothing about this setup screems overbudget. If anything i'd imagine you were put into open because of the aftermarket chassis more than anything.

It's been a minute since i looked at the rules for this stuff.

From my understanding if the base rifle and optic cost more than $1650 at the beginning of the year that automatically pushes you into open. So $900 for the rifle and $800 for the scope at the beginning of 2026 put me over. I'm also just dabbling in competing so it's entirely possible that I'm misinterpreting the rule book.

$1650 USD.

f. Modifications to the stock are not allowed. Drilling holes in the stock is also prohibited unless being done to accommodate one of the following exceptions listed below:

i. Bedding of the action

ii. Mounting a flat rail (e.g. arca or picatinny) to the bottom of the forend.

iii. Adding a cheek riser

iv. Adding a sling stud.

g. Base rifles must remain in their factory configured stock/chassis. Applying paint and/or cerakote to the original factory stock/chassis is allowed, but if a barreled action is removed from the factory stock/chassis and placed in an aftermarket stock not available by the manufacturer and not available as an option to purchase as a complete rifle, then that rifle will be an Open division rifle. i.e. a CZ 457 MTR barreled action may not be placed in a CZ 457 Pro Varmint stock.

I'm pretty sure its just the Bravo stock pushing you into the open.

Much appreciated, guess I missed that big ole "USD". I bought the chassis because I thought I was already in open, but now I definitely am. The Bravo fits me much better than the factory stock so I'm not going back regardless. At the last local match I think there were only 2 people not in open class out of 20.

Come to think of it, what scopes do people run? I'm guessing Arken or similar budget scopes.

The KRG stock might be my favourite individual upgrade I did to my tikka. Sweet plinker bro
