Fix my gun Ruger American Rimfire issues

Hi guys. recently picked up a RAR in .22. Took it shooting this weekend and noticed a few things that concerned me. the first is what looks like a 'scratch' that the bolt has scratched into the receiver; not really sure if this is typical for this rifle and is normal wear or what. the second is a little 'hole' that appeared. I only noticed it when putting the rifle away. I'll attach some pictures; please let me know if you have any ideas whats going on here. I've already contacted the canadian agency that handles warranty stuff for Ruger.

Thanks.

Fix my gun Taipan X and the Tommy Enterprises Picatinny foregrip adapter

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi,

UPDATE: I got an email reply from Tommy Enterprises in the next hour I emailed them.
They instructed me for a few steps and now the parts have mounted properly. I need to test it at the range tho.

The products are fine and it is just some tweaking to installing correctly.

Perhaps an installation video would be great šŸ‘

Thanks for all the comments!

Question:

I got the Taipan X and the Tommy Enterprises Picatinny foregrip adapter for mounting a foregrip.

I have issues to mount it on.

I m not sure why the rail adapter (lower in the photo) have no cutout notches to fit the pump rail.

There is a difference on the original one (top in the photo). Snug fit.

The existing bolt is not long enough either.

Anyone had the same experience of this and willing to shed some light?

Thanks in advance!

Fix my gun TM-22 Feather Bolt Stop replacement.

Post image

Just wondering if anyone attempted to replace their factory bolt stop with the heavy duty Velocity Kraft bolt stops in their RIA TM-22 feather, I am curious of a couple of things..

  1. Do I still need the heavy duty bolt stop with the Alex's Home Brew T Charge Handle Kit for either RIA TM-22 or the standard TM-22 with the full length hand guard? If I recall they have a chunk of plastic or some peice that slides down into the reciever that takes up some room..

  2. Do you need to take the buffer tube off to replace the bolt stop and if so, how did you take the buffer tube off? It looks like its all 1 peice of plastic but I could be wrong..

Thanks in advance!

Fix my gun Marlin 1895 Trapper 45-70 Gov Trigger and Lever Help

2 videos in one.

First part: I’m wondering if this is normal trigger behaviour. Not shown in the video, it is very loose and can be pushed forward easily. Seems to operate normally when it comes to firing rounds.

Second part: The lever seems to bind when the lever is ā€œpushedā€ to one side. As seen in the video, at first my fingers are pushing the lever away from me and trying to cycle it and it binds. When the lever is pulled toward me it’s smooth as butter. Is there a fix for this other than don’t push the lever to the side that binds?

Edit: Solved thanks for all help! Fix is just shoot more.

Fix my gun Need help: Crusader Alcor handguard screw specs + contact info?

Post image

Hey guys,

I’m trying to sort out an issue with a Crusader handguard kit for the Alcor 223 and was hoping someone here might have experience with it.

I need to replace a few screws from the handguard, but I haven't been able to find any specs or replacement parts anywhere. Bullseye North suggested contacting the manufacturer, but Crusader doesn’t seem to have a clear contact channel.

Just wondering if anyone here:

Knows the screw specs (thread/size), or Has a way to get in touch with Crusader Arms

For reference, it's the Crusader Alcor sport kit

Appreciate any help — thanks!

Fix my gun Ruger 10/22 with an ATI AR-15 body - Replacing the magazine release

Ruger 10/22 with ATI AR-22 Body

So I recently bought a used Ruger 10/22 with a ATI AR-15 style body. The magazine release is awkward to release. I want to replace it. I like the idea with a machined aluminum replacement.

Any suggestions on brands to look at? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks

Close up of the magazine ejector button.

Fix my gun Unusual wear on Dlask 10/22 receiver near extractor - is this normal?

Hi all,

I am testing out a new Dlask 10/22 build and have put about 500 rounds through it over the last few weeks. I have noticed the area around the extractor has some unusual wear.

For some reason, Dlask receivers have a channel to the side of the extractor, and the wall between the barrel and this channel is slightly deformed. My extractor is properly timed, and there does not seem to be enough force from the extractor to damage the receiver like this anyway.

I suspect a stovepipe might have been caught in this area, and perhaps the bolt slamming against it caused the wear? Or could be from feed issues - my H3CR magazines have fed rounds in at an odd angle. Or perhaps my TandemKross Spartan Charging Handle?

I also noticed my other target Dlask rifle has some wear in this area, too, but not as noticable since that rifle has a much lower round count.

The gun still functions and shoots fine.

Has anyone else with a Dlask receiver noticed this wear? Is it a known issue, or just normal wear and tear?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Fix my gun Issues with Mec-Gar magazines for Glock

I've been struggling to make the last two rounds feed reliably in my Glock 17 gen 4 from my new Mec-Gar magazine, while my OEM gen 5 mags feed perfectly everytime. The last two rounds often don't get picked up by the slide, even thought the magazine seems to be perfectly seated.

I've talked about it to a friend who then let me test his own magazines with his Glock 34 gen 4, and they fed perfectly. But when I tried one of his in my Glock 17, it would do the exact same thing as mine.

This is confusing me because I thought that perhaps it would be a simple magazine problem, but now I've got the feeling that I'd need to check the gun itself possibly.

Here's what I tried so far:

-I tried cleaning the gun (duh)

-I tried 115gr, 124gr, 147gr JHP

-I tried surplus +p+ IVI ammo to check if more slide velocity did anything

-I compared my Mec-Gar with my OEM magazines at the range

-I tried using someone else's Mec-Gar magazines in my own Glock 17

What I didn't try yet:

-Trying my magazine in someone else's gun

-cleaning and lubricating the magazine with ceramic coating (although it doesn't have a very high round count)

-Changing my Glock's recoil spring with a brand new one (friend's advice)

-Testing if my support hand rubs against the slide sometimes

-removing my Magpul magwell (maybe it's contacting the mags)

-Revert my Gen 5 OEM mag release to the original Gen 4 one (not sure if that'll do anything)

If anyone has any experience or solutions to share, or just wants to tell me that I'm overthinking and perhaps should just stick to OEM magazines (like God intended), feel free to do it.

Fix my gun 6.5PRC magazine question

I bought a tikka ctr in 6.5PRC and a cadex short action AICS pattern chassis. Will the 300WSM / 6.5 PRC MDT Metal AICS Magazine - 7 RND work? MDT lists them as long action magazines but I called two gun stores and they said it should work fine. I was also told that if i get the standard 6.5creedmoor magazines without the binder plate I might have feeding issues.

while cleaning I discovered that operating the action of the rifle is much smoother without the buffer and buffer spring. Would there be any negative side effects if I were to remove those parts?

Fix my gun Wood stock repair? (Sks)

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey,

My all matching Sks came with a few dings and scratches. Was wondering what is the method and way to clean it up? Thinking maybe a sand down without messing with the Tula star and numbers.

So far, ive researched and come up with:

Slight damp Cloth and clothes iron for deep holes/cuts (?!?!)

Light sand to smoothen and make a smooth feel

Linseed and or other oil to give it that laminate feel and protection.

Thank you, happy easter

Has anyone tried taking the buffer tube off an RF224? I have a custom set I would like to install on one. There is a video showing it is removable, just wondering if anyone has done it.
