Fix my gun Ruger American Rimfire issues

Hi guys. recently picked up a RAR in .22. Took it shooting this weekend and noticed a few things that concerned me. the first is what looks like a 'scratch' that the bolt has scratched into the receiver; not really sure if this is typical for this rifle and is normal wear or what. the second is a little 'hole' that appeared. I only noticed it when putting the rifle away. I'll attach some pictures; please let me know if you have any ideas whats going on here. I've already contacted the canadian agency that handles warranty stuff for Ruger.

Thanks.

Looks like normal wear to me. Places where metal on metal interact the finish wears a bit but that's normal. As for the hole, I'm not 100% on this but it looks like a pressure relief hole near the chamber. This is a normal part of gun design, I believe the idea is that if a cartridge fails the hot gasses get redirected out the side rather than back towards your face. It could also be production/milling hole, they use those to hold onto the part when they're making them.

The scratches are normal, both pieces are metal rubbing up against each other so its inevitable. The hole is a vent hole for gases if you have a case rupture, it gives the gases a place to escape rather than going down the side of the bolt into the rest of the action.

Ah. The only thing that gave me pause there is that if it is a vent hole (looks like it is?) is that its not perfectly round; its uneven on the one side.

That’s normal, my savage 93 doesn’t have round vent holes either. The holes are more so functional rather than aesthetic so I wouldn’t worry about it.

That’s normal wear. The bolt gets smoother over time. And yes there should be a hole for venting. Though I recall the hole on the other side.
