Update
I drilled those screws out, 3 of them came out easily enough that I think I did not mess up the threads. I only botched 1. I am sure 3 screws and some locktight mixed with hope will hold the rail in place
Just got myself a Mossberg 590 Shockwave. Want to mount a laser/red dot on top of the receiver but not sure what type of screw these are. Internet says they should be flathead but they are clearly not. Can someone help with some tips please?

I don’t know what it’s like in the rest of the country, but in southern Ontario there is a huge shortage of ranges. It’s not like the demand isn’t here, as the ranges that do exist have closed waitlists. What gives? Is there like some kind of cap on the number of permitted ranges in this province?

So I want to start by saying thanks for creating products for the Canadian market, God knows we need more of this.
Now for our impression.
Positives: Canadian Made. Great product out of the box, easy install and great looking/functionality on a Chimera 223.
Negative: Not great for long periods of shooting/competition. 500 rounds total at a rate of about 100 rounds per hour, short burst going through all the rounds in a mag with cooling periods of the time it takes to reload a mag. So some integrity issues observed at high heat.
My questions for the company or those that have modified the handguard out there...
Any plans on putting an aluminum heat shield shim inside the handguards to prevent the polymer from becoming soft or melting? The oem handguard had one.
We tested ours for a 3gun practise shoot and we noticed the polymer was losing rigity as the shoot went on. We let it cool and it seems to have kept its shape. We must have put 500 rounds through a Chimera that day.

Finally took out my Kral KR 22 to the range today, and I could not be happier. For a gun that only cost $279, she shot absolutely amazing, surpassing my expectations. Here’s the full breakdown:
- the stock mags are shit, invest in a REM 597 adapter and REM 597 promags. The mags will need to be broken in with some use and maybe some oil
- I fired over 200 rounds and maybe had 10 misfires at most. I tried minimag CCIs, stingers and blazers, and I would definitely recommend the minimags. I shot 100 of them and maybe had 3 misfires
- for a 22lr, this thing is pretty accurate, I attached some photos of what I shot at 20yds
- overall is a very smooth lil plinker, would def recommend to anyone new or on a budget
Setup:
- kr22 OD colour
- Rem 597 adapter
- (2) promag 597 22rd mags
- kill house airsoft red/green dot
- cheap ahh laser at the bottom

(Pic for attention)
I’m wondering about getting some dummy’s for my Henry big boy in brass and I’m wondering if the dummy’s since they are steel would wear out parts if I practice running the action and loading? Might be stupid to ask or worry about so don’t roast me I’m just asking.

i was wondering with the violence increasing (i am in montreal, people break in houses is increasing) why Verney-Carron Flash-Ball is not allowed?
I check the law and I saw the joules etc but can we decrease the PSI of it? I know they're mostly associated with law enforcement in some countries.
just wondering if a company had release a news for an equivalent.
Edit: for **self-defense**

12/15/2023 was the cutoff deadline for semi auto centrefire rifles (STANAG) that can still be approved by FRT without having to meet the new requirements of Bill C-21.
We’ve had a few trickle through in the last year (Alcor, Chimera, L85AI, Makasi, Carmel) etc.
Are there any other models that could potentially meet this same criteria and doesn’t already have an approved FRT or do we think this will be it?
I’m sure there are still some obscure American or European makes that have not yet been submitted.

I wanted to have a SPAS 12 which is obviously banned, and god knows ill never find a Franchi PA7 or a Remington 870 police with an original folding stock anytime soon in Canada. So I settled with what was close enough.
Also I didn't want to get the Maverick 88 with ATI Shotforce because the thing looks like cheap polymer.
These 2 have sturdy solid aluminum frames with a nice rubber buttpad for the stock.
Hatsan Escort Aimguard TFS and Mossberg 500 Tactical with Choate top folding stock and picatinny foregrip.
ALSO I KNOW A TOP FOLD IS NOT IDEAL BECAUSE THE STOCK CAN SMACK YOU IN THE FACE WHEN SHOOTING

Saw the other stowaway post with the mag in the grip so figured I’d post mine.
I designed the grip to work with P226 mags since they are way smaller than glock mags if you take off the baseplate. The grip slots in from the back and locks in, then the rear cover slides on and locks in.
The cocking handles are now available for sale on West Valley Systems.
The optic is a OneLeaf Mars Mini micro thermal with built in range finder and ballistic/hold over calculator.

Got my new scope mounted. Vortex strike eagle 1 - 8. Using a monstrum super low profile mount. Extremely happy with how this looks, can't wait to shoot it.

HOW TO GET A 22LR HANDGUN EXEMPTION IN BC (AB has a similar process)
1. PREREQUISITES
Obtain your RPAL (Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence) and an active BCTSA (British Columbia Target Sports Association) Membership.
2. COMPLETE C-21 EXEMPTION FORM and submit to BCTSA
Fill out the designated C-21 22LR exemption form and submit it via email. Wait 1-2 weeks to receive your official Exemption Letter. This is make and model specific for each letter.
Alberta has a similar process with exemption letters that are open ended for multiple makes and models.
3. CHOOSE & PURCHASE FIREARM
Select a handgun to purchase from a Canadian or US retailer. Send your Exemption Letter to the retailer/importer (required by Global Affairs Canada and CBSA for the handgun import permit paperwork and transfer). If importing, the importer will do the paperwork, shipping and clearance for you.
Requirements:
4. FINAL RCMP SUBMISSION (AT REQUEST)
Send your Exemption Letter via email when specifically requested by the RCMP Firearms Centre on behalf of the Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) (Miramichi, NB).
5. RECEIVE APPROVAL & REGISTRATION
Receive your transfer approval and registration certificates via email from the RCMP.
6. RECEIVE DOCUMENTS
Receive your physical registration certificates via mail from the RCMP.
7. RECEIVE HANDGUN VIA MAIL
Receive your .22LR handgun(s) via mail.
Requirements Checklist
To qualify, your application must reflect the following criteria:
The BC Target Sports Association is that Provincial sport shooting governing body in BC. The SFC is the National Sports Organization.
What this means, is that if you are training, competing, or coaching in an Olympic or Paralympic discipline using Handguns, BCTSA can provide an exemption allowing you to purchase appropriate handguns. Generally, this means .22 caliber pistols. You are not expected to be proficient or competitive, just wishing to train in the sport. BCTSA offers this to all BCTSA members, including the members of Affiliated Clubs. BCTSA met with the Chief Firearms Officer for BC and worked out a process for this exemption. Acceptable Firearms are generally .22 calibre. Entry level handguns are acceptable, as are the more expensive, competition quality handguns.
Before you apply for a Transfer Exemption, you should locate a Handgun to purchase. Many stores no longer carry or order Handguns, so please do your shopping before you ask to transfer a Handgun you can't find to purchase. BC is not Texas. The availability of Handguns here is an issue, especially with this being one of the few avenues left for purchasing one.
To be eligible, you need to EITHER: Train, Compete or Coach.  Only one is necessary. More is better, but only one is necessary. This is about intent, so if you are training to compete in the sport, please check off Training and Competing, as that is the intended purpose of the Handgun transfer. Do not send a shopping list of what you MIGHT like to transfer if you can find one, only what you have found and will transfer. Shopping lists will be denied.Â
Disciplines
Eligible 22LR Handguns (Example Brands)
Note: Under this exemption, firearms must be for .22LR caliber only and Minimum 4.17-inch (106mm) barrel length.
US Import Note:Â Handguns can be purchased from the IRUNGUNS US store in Arizona. They are then imported to their Canadian warehouse in Alberta and shipped directly to the customer. IRUNGUNS handles all the necessary cross-border import paperwork on your behalf. There are also other combinations possible such as from an auction to the importer. Any extended magazines are clipped to 10.
Double check that the handgun is listed as Restricted on the RCMP Firearms Reference Table (FRT). You can also check if it was previously sold by a Canadian retailer online (many are still listed just out of stock). There are some AR pistol variants for example that are prohibited.
EXAMPLES -- Basically any handgun you can find in the USA that is 22LR and classified Restricted with a Minimum 4.17 inch (106mm) barrel length can be imported:

Just curious, what do you guys think between the 12" and 16" TM22 Pro?
I'm looking to pick up a plinker, and I see that there is a lot of 12" stock right now.
Also anyone happen to know when the 16" will get re-stocked?
Edit: Thx all, 16" it is!

I’m looking for a blast diffuser similar dimensions/ style as the Warden. Was wondering if anyone knew something similar that doesn’t cost as much. Not sure what our options are up here. thanks

Local guy wanting $900.
I've found a few for the $600-ish range, but not matching, or a tickler, or just abused.
I decided to stick with the OG and get a tactical stock one day if I'm inclined. Anyway, that advice helped on a previous post, but many in it also aren't SKS fans.
So for the fans, this is the cleanest example I've found around here. Fair deal?

Brand new gun, first few round, and it is doing this, and it kept happening for the rest of the mags. Is it a mag problem? Or is it a gun problem, I’m a complete newbie in debugging guns. And I don’t know what caused this kind of failure after firing.
The mag is pro mag rem597 22 round with the adapter came in the box of this gun.
I would love to know the answer and gain some knowledge as well! (Ignore the missing battery cap)
