I thought pistol transfers are frozen?

For the great leader of the liberal party that is exemption

"when you're a star prime minister, they let you do it. You can do anything"

16

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR 15d ago

"I just grab 'em by the glock"

15

u/JazzManJasper 15d ago

Lame Carney handed it over to the horse police for deactivation and left the box of ammo in Turkey. From what I read the handgun will probably end up in a museum.

6

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR 14d ago

Considering who it was given to, and the fact that it was essentially destroyed, itll end up in the basement of the museum. Lol

He turned it over to the RCMP for decommissioning. What a farce

23

u/FailedCoder86 15d ago

In the article it says Starmer had it decommissioned but I don’t see where it says Carney did the same

14

u/chasing_daylight 15d ago

What article? Theres no article linked.

Most outlets are reporting the UK, Germany and Canada are having theirs decommissioned

10

u/FailedCoder86 15d ago

There was another post here that linked to an article but received less upvotes. Anyways, it’s sad he is having it decommissioned because honesty it sends a bad message to our enemies. The gun gift was a symbolic message from Turkey, and to have them decommissioned sends a weak message to our foes about our willingness to protect ourselves.

The problem is we already proved we’re a bunch of useless westoids since 2014

22

u/got-trunks 15d ago

Carney is squeezing off a few in the forest with that thing and I know it.

34

u/DoctorBlazes 15d ago

And then he might even fire it afterwards.

3

u/DuperCheese 15d ago

Starmer just left it there. He said he cannot legally import a gun into the UK.

2

u/NeruLight 14d ago

He didn’t have a loicense. I kinda admire the fact our horse police just said okay and brought it home.

2

u/HappyCan7250 14d ago

The article i read said Starmer left his behind, and Carney actually didn't even "receive" it, it was just given to the RCMP. He claims he was only made aware after.

I love the irony of this though, gifting a handgun to the Liberal loser PM. What a nice gift, wonder what will happen to it.

27

u/Low-HangingFruit 15d ago

I mean, its a ceremonial gift.

Its going to a museum or an archive.

33

u/NeruLight 15d ago

It’d be a lot cooler if he didn’t. It came with ammo too

5

u/Wilsonjet2017 15d ago

The ammo was left in Turkey.

5

u/NeruLight 15d ago

Boooooo!!

3

u/Joebranflakes 15d ago

I mean no one is ever going to shoot it, and if it were sold it would not be able to be sold as a live weapon. At least not in this era of gun control.

8

u/JazzlikeSort 15d ago

It's technically not his to keep. They can't keep gifts unless they pay the cash value of it. Otherwise it'll go to a museum.

3

u/noveltyisthe 15d ago

Trump got that plane from the Quatar …what’s the big deal for one lousy ceremonial pistol

21

u/AMEFOD 15d ago

Both would be illegal. It’s just that Trump doesn’t care and currently no one is stopping him.

2

u/Dill_Pickle_Tears 15d ago

Yeah he surrendered it right away for decommissioning

u/Vintage_Pieces_10 15d ago edited 15d ago

Darn, if only there wasn’t a handgun freeze in place, he could keep it. Surely out of respect for poly, he’ll turn over this weapon of mass destruction!

Edit: wow… he did actually turn it over to the RCMP… lame

u/Most_Bath5811 15d ago

He's bumping his buyback numbers up one gift at a time!

19

u/conanap 15d ago

Does he even have a license tho tbh

4

u/coniferslav 15d ago

Considering his roots I could imagine he'd at least have or had a non-res pal

1

u/mac1qc qb 13d ago

In the interview that followed, he said he doesn't have any license, so maybe in his young time when he was a real Albertan cowboy, but not anymore.

37

u/84camaroguy 15d ago

I don’t like the law, but I admire the consistency.

3

u/davidc538 onterrible 15d ago

What a loser lol

u/mechant_papa 15d ago

According to Turkish news, the handgun in question is a Sarsilmaz SR 38 revolver, with a box of cartridges, like this:

13

u/NeruLight 15d ago

Interesting. Why cant they make the ones they send us like that 😭

13

u/ilikefixingthingz 15d ago

They do, there's just no market for higher end Turkish branded firearms in Canada, let alone handguns. They're seen as the cheap options now and it'd be really hard to convince clients otherwise.

The reality is that the Turks (just like the Chinese or Asian manufacturers) can turn out some amazing stuff depending on what you pay for and how involved of a distributor/retailer you want to be.

You can request certain QA/QC processes as part of your contract, even spare parts, warranty processing, etc. This is what the bigger players offshoring their manufacturing in Turkey are doing (such as CZ).

A lot of smaller NATO countries actually rely on the larger Turkish manufacturers (Sarsilmaz or Yildiz being 2 big ones) for their small arms, especially the crew served, belt fed firearms like M2 Brownings.

3

u/Old_Jacker 15d ago

I don't think Sarsilmaz or Yildiz in Canadian market but Sarsilmaz afaik has some stuff in US, especially handguns. But I don't know the Canadian market.

Let me give a funfact, in Turkey it is crazy hard to get anything that is not pistol or smoothbore. So most of the investment goes to shotguns and pistols for civilian market. Military related manufacturers are able to do its own thing since they are well funded by government. That is one of the reasons why we don't see almost any decent .308 or similar caliber guns for civilians and why military stuff is relatively more affordable. Few exceptions for civilian market here and there but compared to shotguns, it is like nothing.

3

u/Substantial-Onion-92 15d ago

I have a Yildiz 12GA O/U and it is a very nice quality firearm. Nice materials and beautiful engravings. Very reliable and feels solid.

I also have a Turkish made Winchester 20ga that is half plastic and the trigger group self destructed.

21

u/Superb_Extension1751 15d ago

Well let's just hope and pray it's been deactivated. Lord knows that weapon is too dangerous for Canadians to own.

5

u/EatAss-FartFast 14d ago

Damn Canada just got A WHOLE LOT SAFER now that the PM decided to turn in his gift to the RCMP.

17

u/yummybunnybear 15d ago

Everyone here is going for the Olympic shooter exemption but Carney outdoing everyone with the NATO leader exemption.

51

u/FngrBngr-84 15d ago

Mr Burns will hand that right to Gary to store in his cheeks. Dealer’s choice on which set of cheeks.

22

u/Relevant_Diver_3228 15d ago

Yep its already in my cheeks

2

u/itsagrapefruit 15d ago

Which set?

5

u/Relevant_Diver_3228 15d ago

I switch every 25 minutesĀ

26

u/SelppinEvolI 15d ago

To bad he missed the cutoff for the buy back program

26

u/AddressFeeling3368 15d ago

He had better get his rpal

25

u/Benefit_Waste 15d ago

Too bad he doesn’t know what that is

17

u/Additional-Monk-6434 15d ago

'Now it's your turn to fall for its charm'

14

u/vroflraptor 15d ago

It’ll end up on GunPost next week

8

u/gugz92 15d ago

Pain brothers and sisters, pain. It's like getting a Rolex and ripping the movement out

6

u/Barbarian_818 15d ago

Oh please let it be a short barreled revolver. Y'know, just for the extra irony.

1

u/NeruLight 15d ago

šŸ˜‚

6

u/Motor_Historian2634 15d ago

Apparently he gave them to the rcmp lmao

6

u/Vikare_ 15d ago

What a fucking joke! That poor revolver..

5

u/NIBLZ_HAMSTR 15d ago

Welding that barrel would be the stupidest thing anyone could do... and if I were the president of turkey I'd be super insulted. I would have gifted him a cap gun... engraved... in a lovely, velvet lined wooden box... complete with a roll of caps.

4

u/NeruLight 15d ago

I agree it tarnishes the gift .. weak behaviour

5

u/Eisenbahn-de-order 15d ago

He then promptly turn it in for dewat, lol

5

u/mr_nuts31 15d ago

Do you think he got one that works?

u/NeruLight 15d ago

4

u/Whispersfine 15d ago

For the first time ever in my life, I wish poly could do something about this.😈

3

u/Cb1receptor 15d ago

bae wake up new loop hole dropped

4

u/emeric1414 15d ago

It was a very nice revolver, shame we can't have them, supposedly the belgian pm brought his back without knowing it was livešŸ˜‚

1

u/NeruLight 15d ago

🤣

4

u/itsyaboi6909 15d ago

Would we be safe to assume him and the chipmunk added this to the beyond cooked and skewed numbers they’ve dreamt up for the buyback?

8

u/escv_69420 15d ago

Erdogan be like "This is the special one I use for the people who try to have 'democracy'"
Carney: *furiously taking notes*

3

u/B5_V3 15d ago

Doubt he’s got an RPal or a Prohibited.

2

u/1anre 15d ago

Did they get to test them on a range?

2

u/harbourhunter 15d ago

Where is the snow queen when we need her

2

u/ledfloyd 15d ago

Does Carney have time in his schedule for an impromptu Fishing Trip to "the Lake"

2

u/SkSMaN7 15d ago

Is he part of the Olympic team?

2

u/Glittering_Eye_6342 15d ago

They should send it to Ukraine like they wanted to do with my Gsg-16

2

u/SuperD7500 15d ago

Does he have a PAL? If not possessing it is illegal…just saying.

2

u/Remarkable-Show-6367 8d ago

Wait! What! Isn't it illegal to ship or import hand guns in and out of CanIndia?

1

u/NeruLight 8d ago

Well people with an authorization letter can import hand guns still. RCMP usually have the job of ā€œretrievingā€ guns that lack proper paperwork, so I imagine they have the authority to possess and even import it on the PM’s behalf, right on the spot in Turkey, or just like call back and have the import ā€œorderā€ created etc.

4

u/specificallyrelative 15d ago edited 11d ago

Is Carney gonna make a special exemption to bring what his regime calls a Murder Stick back? Just because it's him.

Edit: turns out he decided to destroy it and slap Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the face with everyone else. I thought that he would have had it deactivated and put in a display in parliament somewhere instead of trying to illegally keep it without an RPAL, but not full blown destroy it.

2

u/NeruLight 15d ago

It’s bullshit man but at least he accepted unlike the PM of UK

2

u/Cute_Ad6301 15d ago

This is how it went.

1

u/manonfireohno 15d ago

I imagine the weight of the gun was too much for his frail little hands to hold properly šŸ˜‚

1

u/Solitaire3006 15d ago

Oh, now that's funny. If he brings it back to Canada he could serve 5 years in jail. And violating Garry Alphabet's handgun freeze.

1

u/Solitaire3006 15d ago

Of course, that's not the current Turkish PM.

1

u/CIS3RO 14d ago

So he can have one but we can’t. It better be deactivated

1

u/KaeseKraimer 12d ago

Erdogan - an anachronism amongst our so called sheep leaders. Except perhaps Meloni. I can picture her plinking out back with a cig in her mouth.

1

u/westleysnipes604 15d ago

Rules for thee not for me.

This cuck would use it for...you know what...
