According to Turkish news, the handgun in question is a Sarsilmaz SR 38 revolver, with a box of cartridges, like this:

They do, there's just no market for higher end Turkish branded firearms in Canada, let alone handguns. They're seen as the cheap options now and it'd be really hard to convince clients otherwise.

The reality is that the Turks (just like the Chinese or Asian manufacturers) can turn out some amazing stuff depending on what you pay for and how involved of a distributor/retailer you want to be.

You can request certain QA/QC processes as part of your contract, even spare parts, warranty processing, etc. This is what the bigger players offshoring their manufacturing in Turkey are doing (such as CZ).

A lot of smaller NATO countries actually rely on the larger Turkish manufacturers (Sarsilmaz or Yildiz being 2 big ones) for their small arms, especially the crew served, belt fed firearms like M2 Brownings.

I don't think Sarsilmaz or Yildiz in Canadian market but Sarsilmaz afaik has some stuff in US, especially handguns. But I don't know the Canadian market.

Let me give a funfact, in Turkey it is crazy hard to get anything that is not pistol or smoothbore. So most of the investment goes to shotguns and pistols for civilian market. Military related manufacturers are able to do its own thing since they are well funded by government. That is one of the reasons why we don't see almost any decent .308 or similar caliber guns for civilians and why military stuff is relatively more affordable. Few exceptions for civilian market here and there but compared to shotguns, it is like nothing.

I have a Yildiz 12GA O/U and it is a very nice quality firearm. Nice materials and beautiful engravings. Very reliable and feels solid.

I also have a Turkish made Winchester 20ga that is half plastic and the trigger group self destructed.
