Hey everyone,

I’m still pretty green to the precision game—only have about 150 rounds through my setup so far—and I’m running into some optical frustration that I could use some guidance on.

My Setup:

Rifle: Tikka T3x TAC A1

Optic: Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44

The Problem:

Once I try to shoot past 200 yards, things get tough. At 200 yards, I really struggle to see my points of impact on the target. By the time I push out to 300 yards, seeing impact holes is completely out of the question.

To try and fix this, I naturally crank the magnification up to 16x, but the image gets pretty muddy and fuzzy at the high end. It feels like I'm fighting the glass just to get a clear picture.

My Question:

Am I missing something fundamental with my adjustments (like diopter/eyepiece focus or parallax), or am I simply hitting the physical limitations of this glass?

If it's an adjustment issue, what steps should I take to clean up the image? If it's a gear limitation, I'm open to suggestions on what I should replace it with to actually grow into this rifle.

Appreciate any advice you guys can throw my way!

I decided to go with the Bushnell Match Pro 5-30x56mm

I’ve heard cci blazer ammo has been good, but I was wondering if there was any other that are similar

I made a video looking specifically at .308 and whether it still makes sense as a long-range cartridge today.

With how popular newer cartridges have become, I’m curious how many Canadian shooters still choose .308 for long-range shooting.

I also think the rifle itself plays a big part in getting the most out of .308, both in terms of accuracy and extending its practical range. In the video I’m shooting an Accuracy International and a Sako TRG, which are both very capable platforms.

For those of you who shoot .308 regularly, what do you like about it, and where do you think its biggest limitations are?
Interested in hearing some real-world opinions from other Canadian shooters.

Hello everyone. Sorry if this is a dumb post. But I got my pal and a few guns now but have never shot any of them. I plan on going to a range today I just became a member of. Any tips or recommendations for me on etiquette etc?

Went down to the BRRC open house range day event and got to shoot the TM22 .22 lr, the RSO seemed pretty impressed but I can't tell if this is actually good or if he's just trying to recruit me lol. He did mention that the sights were not zeroed in, so maybe that’s why it’s a bit high? 10 rounds for reference

Hi, everyone! I live in Toronto and am applying for PAL next week. While I’m waiting for my license, I wanted to go to a shooting range a few times to practice, but everywhere I’ve looked around the GTA and in Ontario in general, they require a group of at least two people. Does anyone know of any shooting ranges where you can go alone? I’ve also considered hiring an instructor, since I need to work on my shooting technique. How and who can I hire in the GTA area?

Any advice would be appreciated!

While I wait for my Makasi MK15 to arrive, the Akdas Alcor has been keeping me busy at the range.

This rifle has now seen over 4,000 rounds, and it just keeps running. No broken parts, no major failures, and no signs of giving up. It’s been a reliable and fun rifle to shoot every time I hit the range.

Denmark, Netherlands, UK, Norway, Botswana ... all these militaries buy Canadian black rifles and Canadian Elcan optics.

Yet we Canadian citizens can't, ugh. The irony! ​

I got these from a gun show near Winnipeg a few months ago. I painted it yellow and blasted it with my sks at 50 yards. I love not having to reset the target.

I wish I could give credit to the maker. I don't remember who it was.

Was shooting my Marlin 795 when something sketchy happened my guess is a little to much powder in that one. Shooting Aguila have shot lots of them never had this happen.

So when I bought my Adler Arms 22, I didn't think it would be a lemon.
What 22 cal rifle would you say is the most fun to shoot?

I like 30.cal rifles..but my shoulder doesn't lol

Hey guys, had my pal for about a year now, really want to get more into shooting
I live in uxbridge, I see there’s uxbridge clays, but it seems pricey (if there is value there I’m open to it)
Would love to join a club that allows rifles but I’d be okay with shotgun only. Anyone recommend any clubs that will take new members without a sponsor?

Also any clubs that will allow you to show up as a visitor and shoot?

I got a new gong target from princes auto for 18$ it was a great deal but the first shot was abit high to the left. Shot from 200m with .223 you can see the brass on what’s left of the stand. Anyone else have similar luck or lack thereof?

I go to target sports, but the range is only 25yards. I want something much longer. Any recommendations?
