Shooting New target, first shot was abit high to the left and now I need a newer target
I got a new gong target from princes auto for 18$ it was a great deal but the first shot was abit high to the left. Shot from 200m with .223 you can see the brass on what’s left of the stand. Anyone else have similar luck or lack thereof?

I'd look at steel instead. I have one of those Princess Auto rubber gongs and cheap .22 ammo was putting holes through it the first time out. I don't expect it'll last long

If I ever hit it I’ll report back ok how it takes it, it says it will stop a .50 but I don’t believe that for a second maybe .50AE but very doubtful

Princess auto and such has similar gauge metal rods, I just bent one to shape to replace mine when that happened lol
Or you can just run some wire/rope through the hole and hang it

Or de burr with a grinder. Straighten the end in a vice. Slide the target on, and bend it back up with a hammer over the vice.

Just buy a copper wire spool and some players and throw it in your range bag. That’s how I hang my targets

Princess Auto takes returns for pretty much any reason,
they say "If you're not happy with it"

You shoot brass bullets?

u/CustomerSupportUber Jun 27 '26
Yes. Its not actually a copper jacket, its 95% copper 5% zinc so its a copper brass alloy. Any copper with an amount of zinc between 5%-45% is brass. I know the copper knowledge makes me seem like a crack head but I swear I’m not

Can't you weld it back together?

I could but I’m going to use some string or some wire so it’s harder to shoot it next time

yeah. i rented a steel gong from silverdale gun club once and sniped out the chain it was hung on in the first like, 3 rounds. the guy to my left offered to let me try his ~2" gong from 100m on irons with my mosin-nagant and i managed to... also immediately snipe out the chain on my first shot.
at least i'm precise...
